Beautiful place for an early morning or early evening jog or stroll with the family. My wife, daughters and our 4 year old walked around the common in +30min. Really great experience seeing many joggers and strollers enjoying the scenery and the tranquility. Beautifully kept oasis. 10 months laterโ€ฆ. Beautiful evening last night, havenโ€™t been to the common in some time, and she showed off her best. Even as we approach the end of our Autumn and heading into Winter, the air was fresh but not cold at all. The freedom to walk without your mask was liberating but the foul smelling green dirt bins quickly reminded you of the benefits of being masked. Overall a good night out walking around the common and seeing the green amongst the ashes reminds me that it doesnโ€™t matter how gloomy things may look for now, life always prevails, so Choose Life.

This park is a great place to take a relaxing walk, while still being close enough to an urban environment. It's a wide open park and one can imagine how much developers would salivate at the thought of building apartments on this precinct. There are multiple paths all over the park, and adequate parking for vehicles. Some trees provide shade and it feels pretty safe because there are always plenty of people around. Still, it's best that women walk in groups. Some more accommodation for wheelchair users would be great and bathrooms on site would add value. You'll several dog walkers, and most are friendly and relaxed.

I was scouting the area ad I'm listing a flat for sale nearby. Beautiful park. Good for an evening run, walk. There are toilets but I don't know if they are functional or not. Lovely views of Table Mountain.

Such an underrated community asset. This apparently innocuous piece of land offers an abundance of biodiversity for the careful eye. It is particularly epic in Spring when there are prolific flowering displays.

We had a lovely walk there. Didn't go completely around but stayed near the trees looking for birds. There was quite a few people exercising but be aware of your surroundings when going. Flat easy walk with your dogs.

Rondebosh Common is a beautiful open field space that just gives you that break away from one's busy lifestyle. This natural piece of land is good for those looking to relax from stress, get some fresh air or train to get fit. This is just one of the gems on our doorstep which we can use everyday for free! Only a slight down side is there are no restrooms and certain dog owners let there dogs loose. This is perfect for the whole family to get out for a few hours but definitely not something to do for the whole day.

I take my pups here for walks everyday. Itโ€™s their favourite activity. Other dog walkers are usually friendly and the scenery is beautiful.

A wonderful place to exercise at any time. You can choose to walk the perimeter path twice around and complete 5 kilometers without thinking much of it. There is a patch for the happy hounds to wonder around across the interior of the common. In winter after rain pools appear in catchment areas and are loved by the younger set to enjoy getting wet and messy in the mix of mud sand and water. The animals also love these spots. One of these days Park Run will be back for the joggers, walkers and cyclists. For the botanists the spring is a time to discover what exactly grows on the common. Many a botanical artists have collected and recorded wonderful specimens only common to that area.

I love going for walks with friends inside the Common. You'd be surprised how diverse the nature is in there. If differs week to week and a lot between seasons. Spring is especially lovely with lots of little flowers popping up.

Great place for an after (or before) work run or walk. Lots of people around and beautiful views.

Well maintained . A good place to get a faster flatter run in . It is also very convenient to have both a 'road' route as well as a 'trail' route situated in the same area. The reason for giving a three star review is because as a runner , the route becomes repetitive the longer you run. My suggestion would be to either hop inside to the trail routes and have fun or simply do a lap or two around the Common and complete your run in the surrounding area and come back.

The commons is a huge field, but not of grass. It is a natural wild grass, small to large bushes scattered around and a small evergreen trees forest in one corner. No toilets there, but can do discreetly in the bushes if necessary. A place where we and many other people bring their dogs and the dogs can run free to their hearts content.

The park is crowded at peak times and the people are NOT friendly. Make sure you have earphones to listen to music and wear your mask at all times.

This Heritage Site is a good example of Community and Government collaboration who along with Friends of Rondebosch Common work hard to retain the naturally occuring Vegetation... conservation, academic investigation and heritage preservation... as a lay person you can experience the ever changing vast floral landscape... and a dog and child friendly outdoor venue for any time of year... be careful where you walk there are a multitude of miniature flowers wherever you look

Delightful spot in suburban Cape Town where you can join walkers in the fresh air. Enjoy the lovely views of the mountain, with gorgeous wild flowers of various descriptions in the spring - more than 300 varieties! You will reconnect with your soul in this natural spot where birdlife is prolific. Thanks to those "Friends of Rondebosch Common" a community conservation initiative who keep it in good shape and record the history.

I love this area. It's great for a run or a cycle and full of interesting fynbos and flowers in the spring. There's a grassy patch where you can do yoga or have a picnic. The sunsets over the common are amazing

My friend and I enjoy walking around the Common twice a week. We typically do 2 laps, 5km. It's so enjoyable and I'm thankful to have this green space so close to home ๐Ÿ™

A friend and I went for a walk around the Common which we enjoyed. I do not recommend going there alone or after dark. I also did the Park Run on a Saturday at 8h00 which was loads of fun and safe as there were a lot of people

We love going to Rondebosch Common either for the Saturday morning Parkrun or to take our boys for a run or bike ride. 2 laps of the Common is a 5km run - nice and easy ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ Walking through the centre of the common is always exciting with little bugs, animals or birds to see. Great way to get rid of energy!

What a lovely place to still find a piece of calm in a busy city. It is so relaxing to go for a walk with your dog or your best friend or just alone to find yourself again. Thank you Rondebosch for keeping this place protected for us to enjoy!!!

Safe space to exercise and walk, singularly and in a group. The common is suitable for All ages for evening strolls, bike rides as well as for the evening jogger. Popular spot for dog walkers too.

I recently started walking this side @ Rondebocsh Common as it's closer to where I reside now... I got a few friends to join me. We love the distance arnd the common, we feel safe, love that there are so many other people doing this as well. But the best feeling is knowing I'm doing this for myself (health wise)...

  • 5/5 Nadia L. 3 years ago on Google
Lovely place to walk dogs. If they aren't good off the leash I would suggest not letting them loose as the common is not walled in or has not fence so it's easy access to the road if your dog gets loose but if they are good off the lead it's such an amazing walk for them. It's really one of the nicest places to walk with your dog on or off the lead. Not too many people. Really great spot of you love running or walking. Going around the entire common a few times will definitely get you fit and healthy.
