This is a Historical Site. The Oranjezicht Farm used to belong to the Van Breda family. Homestead Park is the only remains of the original Van Breda Homestead. Dating to the late 1800's. The servant bell structure and entrance walls and a small building remain in the "Park". As a family we have erected a sign with a brief explanation of the significance of homestead on the site. Michiel Van Breda 1775–1847 was the first Mayor of the City of Cape Town. So whoever decided it would be a good idea to title this Historical Landmark as "Homestead Park Nikaj" on Google Maps should know we feel personally accosted and this person needs to be educated on the history of the city of Cape Town. Perhaps get the book "The Farm that died" by Ralph Pentecost. Or Read about Michiel Van Breda on Wikipedia.

Great place to take the kids. Nice little park with lots of shade. On Saturdays you can even go pick your own veggies next door and leave a donation.

Single public restroom not open unless there is an event or cub scouts meeting. Makes it difficult for taking children there. The location is beautiful, the play equipment is diverse and there is lots of space for picnics. Lovely fruit trees planted. Beautiful park with the gorgeous Oranjezicht City Farm next door.

Homestead park is a tiny park in the middle of Oranjezicht above Cape Town. There is a large communal vegetable garden, a children's play area with a merry-go-round a climbing frame, swings and a slide. Generally the park is empty and quiet. It is quite historic being part of the old farm that supplied early ships coming into harbor with vegetables.

Nice park, lots of shade and benches but no public restrooms open and grass needs to be maintained. Very dry.

An interesting and charming public space. The history of this property is facinating. The park is popular with local nannies and there charges, families and their kids, and the cubs/scouts hall that has been operating on this site for decades. The neighbouring vegetable garden is truly worth the visit. Again the back story is worth exploring

Historic landmark. The original farm belonged to my forefathers! Lovely green space in the city.

A lovely park - secure fenced off area with gates, so kids & dogs are safe off leash. Generally well maintained with grass regularly cut etc. Kids play equipment available & lots of shade. (Remember to take ur own doggy poop bags though as none are supplied, despite a dispenser in the park)

Beautiful outing for young children and school groups. We saw and tasted fresh vegetables and herbs from the vegetable gardens and saw earthworms from the worm farm. Then we drank herbal tea made in front of us with freshly picked herbs. We explored the park on a scavenger hunt finding insects and plants. This was an outing organized with Oranjezicht City Farm which is part of the park. It is also a lovely place for a family picnic with play facilities for children. Highly recommended.

Just a pity that the water is not made available to the public but instead used for gardening and the Green point stadium and park. . Lead pipes are still is use and council should do something about it.

Beautiful Quite park for dogs. It's a bit quieter than De Waal park, for occasions when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle

It is a nice park to go with your kids but the only problem is there is no toilet. Nannies and toddlers sometimes they need to help themselves

Follow the footsteps and stories of the slave washerwomen, the Drosters’ hideouts, the quarrymen and the spice millers. Great shady spaces - the local spot for pleasant people with well mannered kids and pets. So refreshing. Grass needs a cut and a general tidy up required though - looking tatty.
