Look. I'm going to be honest. I saw the place online and it looked great. And I do understand that covid affected everyone. However. First thing that put me off was there was nowhere to park. Second. I got out of car and told my partner to drive around so I could find out where the parking is. When I got to the door I saw there was a poster up for rooms to rent @ R3500 per month. Fine. They offer long stays. So I ring the bell and was let in. First thing I saw was the photos was actually taken in better days. There were a few unsavory characters sitting around that were drinking quarts of beer which the hostel was obviously selling. Loud music and kids crying was heard throughout. But as this was a business trip and we needed to work and have some quiet I did a u turn. The guy who wanted to book me in said I must first book in before he tells me where my partner ( who is driving around not knowing cape town or the area! ) can park. Sorry but I left and looked for another place. I'm not saying you can't have a good stay there. Just not for me at the time

I arrived too late (18h00) to secure accommodation. Staff were friendly and Arthur the Manager was very accommodating and suggested another backpacker.

Showers could be cleaner, please work on the hot water. Its never readily available especially during peak bath times.

I had an amazing stay at the Green Elephant. Rooms and bathrooms were generally clean, the food is good, so the Green Elephant is amazing value for your money. To top it off, the staff are some of the nicest people I have ever met (shoutout Arthur). Highly recommend!

Arthur is a genuinely unlikable person. Putting his own personal business above serving the customer. Give him your money, shut up and fall in line is my advice. They stole my clothes, my shaver and other smaller items but when reported to the front desk NOTHING was done to find the culprit even though they have 24/7 CCTV that is fully functional. Avoid this place if you can for your own sanity.

Friendly service, beers are cheap and cold. Very neighbourly establishment, safe space to work, have a cold beer or take a dip after a hot day. A beautiful hidden gem. The barman is a great soul.

Great experience. Visited twice in 2 years. Friendly staff, friendly roommates. If you wanna meet people from all walks of life, this is the spot. Well maintained, always clean. For some weird reason, it has a tropical feel to it, must be the timber. Safe and roommates always respect one another. My only problem is the uncontrolled noise levels sometimes, maybe an insulated fabric could counter that as a future renovation idea?

The manager was notified that there was BED BUGS in one of the dorms and continued to assign people into the dorm. Beyond disgusting and dangerous. Definitely not a backpackers vibe. It mostly has cheap to medium long term housing. Some people are living in tents for months in the pseudo yard. The manager was quite rude to us all on seperate occasions. Would not recommend this ‘backpackers’ to anyone.

I enjoyed staying at green elephant guest house. Its real a nice chilling space with a pool and the kind of welcome i received from the staff was ontop of imagination. Its a Mncwaaàaaaaaa to me

I literally never leave reviews but I went through Green elephants reviews and filter urged to leave one From the moment I got here I have enjoyed everything the people the staff the environment and not only that but I have extended my stay number one in OBS Bravo Howard and Arthur

The worst experience ever. 1They don't clean the dorms it was only cleaned on day 5 since my arrival. 2. My sheets were changed after 6 days after I had asked a roommate and was told I had to request for change of sheets. 3.Was booked here for nine days but I'm leaving before I have to because of the attitude and lack of customer care I have received from the lady on duty at reception here today, twice. I was willing to ignore everything else but the disrespect here is astonishing. Imagine someone waking you up to question you at 23:45 why I am using 2 pillows, after I had been using 2 pillows for a week? Now I can't even go back to sleep.

I loved this place. The staff was amazing and was always helping me where I needed help. The vibe feels like home, unlike Observatory backpackers, and Aanda and Arthur were great people to meet. The cleaning ladies were amazing and respectful of my items and personal space. They wanted to always ensure that my door and locked and that my things were safe. Damn, I will miss this place.

I feel it's safe and the view is beautiful.

Service was poor. Cleanliness was poor. People sleeping on the floors and couches.

It was really nice and we were watching the Man City Game....really enjoyed my evening
