I have stayed in hostels all over the world and this is my favourite! Everyone has a place here- solo travellers, couples and families. The rooms are spacious, comfy and warm (electric blankets?!!) The breakfast is great and the kitchen is fully equipped, there is a social room with Netflix for movie nights, a working space for us digital nomads and even a swimming pool! The best part of the whole experience is the staff. I never expected so much kindness and warmth. Every single member takes the time to get to know you and this vibe spreads among the guests to create a real feeling of home away from home. Great location, walking distance from beaches, shops, cafes and restaurants. Would 100% recommend this place for anyone is looking to rest, feel welcomed and meet some incredible people.

Honestly cannot fault this place. Spent a night there with my mom, on a mini roadtrip. The staff are so helpful, accommodating, welcoming and amazing. The room was perfect, super comfortable, spacious and they all Have their own theme to the room with a unique feel. There is multiple communal areas, ideal for having a nice meal and chilling, having some drinks, working if you need to, chilling at the pool or by the fire. And the location couldn't be better either. Highly reccomend to anyone needing a few nights for any reason.

This is my favourite hostel in Cape Town. The decor is inviting and not loud, the beds are really comfortable, the hostel is quiet at night and it is just a friendly space to chat and make friends with fellow travellers. There is free breakfast in the mornings which might not have as many options as the one at The Backpacker, but you can make your eggs the way you like here. The price is reasonable and I even shared a double room for the same price as a dorm because their dorms were full

We had a great stay in a private room at this hotel/hostel. Really well positioned and safe. Great that it has an honesty bar for drinks and the location is very good for most activities. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much trouble for them. We joined the big Braii they put on with all the other guests and it was a wonderful experience.

This is an excellent place to stay. Centrally located in Green Point - close to the water front, shopping centre and many cafes/restaurants/supermarkets nearby (within walking distance). The place itself is lovely, lots of small details really make this place very homey and cosy. The staff are amazing - especially Ntombi. Very helpful, welcoming and warm. The friendliest people, but not because they have to be but because that is how they are. Authentic and genuine. I stayed in a shared room (3 beds) and was very lucky with my room mates. Very quiet, considerate and kind. The BIG is in a quiet residential area with a lovely pool. It’s a great place to relax, enjoy and get a good nights sleep. They have family dinners, which unfortunately I couldn’t take part in but they looked delicious and good value for money. Breakfast is the same every morning (fresh fruits, cereal, yoghurt, toast, eggs). I couldn’t believe breakfast was included in the price and is really awesome! I honestly loved how clean everything was (the room and bathrooms are cleaned every day). The bathroom in the shared room is amazing and the room itself is wonderfully decorated. I had an excellent time. 10/10 and would come back for sure!

Lovely, welcoming and helpful staff. I had a great stay at Big, and wish I had found this gem sooner! The decor is super tasteful, and located close to the high road. I highly recommend you stay here!

This place is amazing! I felt like at home. The staff is very helpful and answer all the questions very kindly. The common areas facilitate exchange and meeting with the other guests. I would definitely go there again!

The BIG is the perfect place to stay in Cape Town. The accommodation is very well maintained. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Next time we go to Cape Town, we will certainly go back to this nice and comfortable place.

Excellent location and high quality hostel. More quiet than other hostels but the main area still provides a great place to meet fellow travellers in a relaxed setting (not a party hostel). Amazing staff - welcoming, approachable and very helpful and passionate about making us feel welcome - suggest great tours and can help with last minute bookings (I was there during off season). Would highly recommend for an enjoyable stay in Cape Town.

The staff are amazing! So friendly and welcoming☺️ And it feels like you’re part of the family the minute you arrive. Room was super cute and comfy. Also lots of other spaces in the main house to sit, work, or chat with fellow travelers if you want. Heating pad under the fitted sheet kept me nice and warm in the Winter. And nice European breakfast with coffee, toast, jams, meusli, sliced fruit, make your own eggs/French toast. Walk to Waterfront in 12 min or so. Definitely would stay again!!

Staying at The Big was one of the best experiences of my life. The atmosphere is like "home away from home" and you feel such a good vibe once you arrive. The guesthouse rooms are absolutely emaculate and the decor of the Guesthouse is very cozy. All the staff were so warm and friendly and I will never forget them - A BIG thanks to Tal&Amy (owners) Milou, Athi, Ntombi, Vee, Siwe, Khanyo, Cindy, Naomi, Aluwis, and John :-)

Very clean, and the staff is very helpful, the space is well good for work or just relaxing. They create programs for you and ask you simple but very meaningful 2 questions : what do you want to do today? And what have you done today? ... I like it and i recommend it way more than a 5 stars. Here you discuss with new friends and you relax (not a party hostel)... Finally the location is incredibly calm and close to a lot of things

What an amazing place. The whole building had been renovated in to a perfect location to stay at. The staff is excellent and super friendly. Couldn’t wish for more. The location is situated in the center of Cape Town. From here you can easily travel to all the beaches, city center, and waterfront. Don’t forget to talk to the staff for some tips and tricks. You won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy the good vibes.

I have just come across the website of the hostel while browsing the net and it reminded me of the perfect stay I had 2 years ago, therefore I have taken the chance to give it five stars (only because I can't give any more than that). It was just one of the best times in my life thanks to the hostel with very helpful and friendly staff.

Great hostel in a good area. The activities are also super fun to tag along (for example a homemade dinner or a night out at the art galleries). Room and shared bathroom were clean. Breakfast was good (you can make your eggs). Felt very welcome :)

Definitely one of the best hostels I have ever experienced, the staff is beyond helpful, they are focused with helping You blend into their family mesh. They can assist you with ANY type of booking that you could or even haven’t imagined that could done in the region. Their staff members also take willing residents out on outing for food & cultured events, when I go back to Cape Town, I know exactly where I plan to stay. #IG @Diesaltravels

Please, do not call it hostel ! :) This place is absolutely amazing. First of all, it is conveniently located in Green Point which means close to the Waterfront, Table Mountain and Clifton and Camps Bay beaches. Second, it is superbly managed by a crew of guys, always ready to keep you company and give suggestions about what to do/where to go. Breakfast included, two fully equipped kitchens where to cook your lunch/dinner, complimentary wifi (also in the rooms/dorms), free parking, spacious communal areas with sofas, books, table games and cable TV. Moreover they make up ALL the rooms everyday and change your towels on request (at no extra cost). I am not a backpacker ... but I really love this place. Highly recommended.

Very cozy and beautiful hostel located in walking distance to the V&A Waterfront. I spent 6 nights in a 4-bed women’s dorm and couldn’t be happier. Great value for money, place is clean and you can have a good night‘s sleep because it’s super quiet. The staff is amazing, helpful and there are always activities where you can participate, for example braai night or walking tour, among many other things. Easy to meet people whilst chilling at the pool or having breakfast. I haven’t had a lot of breakfast but it looked quite good with fresh fruits, yogurt, muesli and more. Neighborhood is quiet, a Woolworth supermarket is close by and a bunch of restaurants as well.

Best hostel I have ever stayed at! Staff are phenomenal! They are fun, have great recommendations, and really add to the social vibe of the B.I.G. Everything is clean, breakfast is very nice, and they have everything you need. Extended my stay here, and many others did as well.

Beautiful hostel. Super comfortable rooms, lots of activities, helpful and friendly staff, and lots of common spaces to enjoy. I felt really safe too - will definitely be back. You’ll find a wide range of ages and backgrounds here. The value you get for the price is fantastic.
