Irma Stern Museum is located at the UCT lower campus, but is open to not only students. Free of charge for students but adults may look into the entry prices. Entry on Thurs and Fri from 10am to 5pm. Whilst on Sat it is 10am to 2pm Interesting fact about I.S Museum: Stern crafted works of paintings, and the very last work of hers was left as incomplete as it was upon her death in the studio part of the house/museum. Check it out at the musuem. The house and studio, turned into a Museum, gives an antique life feeling, which is good to experience. It's like time travel to the 50s with the future and all. Also, the garden outdoors is very lovely. I think I saw a cherry tree or it might be so prunes. But it is all there in the garden (at the very end of it) take the stroll and enjoy!

Fantastic collection of Irma Stern artworks, antiquities and gifts given to the artist by other artists and during her travels. Three of the rooms are supposedly in their original state. Upstairs there is a contemporary art gallery. Gorgeous large garden.

Beautifully curated home and garden of a South African legend. Lovely atmosphere, special works of art by a unique and fabulously talented woman. Definitely worth a visit. Seeing Irma's studio and favourite armchair, her paintbrushes and work coat, all contributed to a memorable experience.

Travel back in time and go look at this artist home and paintings, sit in her garden and observe your surroundings. Paintings are interesting with staff relating personal details about her life. Private reading and workshops also available.

Inspirational. Love the Front door from stone Town Zanzibar. The collection of works together in the Firs homestead is an international heritage site for South African art.

A very special home museum of iconic artist Irma Stern. Current Georgina Gratrix exhibition The Cult of Ugliness is a brilliant tribute by a spunky artist with a wicked wit. Listen in to the Sanlam Arts Round Up today, Fri 30 September, to find out more. See news blog on mapmyway.co.za

School field trip for Creative Arts. It was such an informative and lovely experience for the learners, most of which do not get opportunities to experience excursions. The tour was given by a well informed guide who was more than willing to answer any and all questions. The learners had an opportunity to create their own art which was spectacular.

Fab little museum showcasing Irma Stern’s work, art collection & studio as it may have looked. The house itself is a work of a art what with the colourful walls & designs painted on all the furniture.

I spent a morning admiring the most interesting art and spending time in the stunning garden. It was peaceful and offered wonderful reflectiveness. This is definitely a must see.

I have been to Irma Stern museum almost 15 years ago and this week I went for a second time hoping to enjoy this great artist’s work one more time and share it with my kids. What a disappointment and disrespect to Irma Stern. Maybe 30% of the museum is Irma Stern’s work whilst rest is another exhibition and completely a random room with no markings who the work belongs to. UCT really needs to think about how to bring it back to its previous glory.

Somewhat concerning. Worth going to. It's free and has some interesting stolen artifacts

A really lovely museum exhibiting Irma Stern’s work but also giving you an insight to her life, her home and her travels. The gardens are beautiful with amazing mature trees. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Very friendly and informative staff at entrance door, reception and within the museum. Receptionist made us cup of tea n coffee for a reasonable price, which we sat out on the front patio to enjoy with a delicious crunchy, half way through our tour. It was so intimate to be in the artist's home, which has been kept as if she left the room yesterday. The garden too mustn't be missed. No wonder it was a great inspiration to her. The works on show cover a wide spectrum of her work, early 1920s upto a year before she died. Not too many of the very valuable ones are exhibited. There was also a supplementary exhibition of a new young artist, woven into the Irma Stern exhibition. Very thought provoking. Well worth the visit.

The paintings of Madeira done while Stern spent time there tell us of the dark side of Madeira that is not obvious and known. I love the island as a soul place being the birth land of my parents and my family. The good news is that the island is more prosperous than ever. But the island has been selling its soul to the almighty € and $, with tourism and foreigners buying property and driving the island life into a commercial money driven place. Otherwise it was inspiring to visit the home of one of South Africa's eminent artists.
