Golden Acre has all the makings of becoming the crown jewel in the heart of Cape Town. Nestled in a bustling urban center, this place holds immense potential to be the best shopping destination in the city. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and modern design. The layout is intuitive, making it easy to explore the diverse range of offerings. The variety of products available is impressive, covering everything from fashion to electronics, and everything in between. The potential of Golden Acre truly shines through in its attention to detail. The quality of merchandise on display is consistently high, reflecting a commitment to providing customers with top-notch products. What sets Golden Acre apart is its strategic location. Situated in the heart of Cape Town, it is easily accessible to residents and tourists alike. The convenience of its placement makes it a prime spot for both quick shopping trips and leisurely browsing. While Golden Acre is already impressive, there is room for growth and expansion. With a bit of fine-tuning and additional offerings, this place has the potential to become the absolute best in Cape Town. With the right investments and a continued focus on customer satisfaction, Golden Acre could truly shine as the city's premier shopping destination. I eagerly anticipate witnessing its evolution in the coming years.

It's a good shopping place. It has most stores for shopping. Not well-known ones, if you're looking those, then I'd suggest another shopping place to check out. But there's Wimpy there which is also amazing. One thing I'd recommend to the place, is there is a need for ventilation especially with the epidemic still going strong. The place could at least add more windows - which are working or at least air cons? Yes.

Not my general cup of tea, it's a largish mall but very packed, I can't handle large crowds that don't really care what they're doing and have you find yourself walking around people. As if they don't have spatial awareness etc. Gets a bit dirty for my liking at times but the shop stores are always clean and generally when I can't find something I need I can find it here. Hidden gems exist in here which is it's saving grace.

Located in the heart of Cape Town. It is the convinient shopping mall in the town centre, as there is a train station, bus terminus, taxi rank and meter taxis around

I saw a man get robbed here, very unsafe. Best to go to other malls but not this one. Also very overcrowded all the time and quite unhygienic.

I always feel uncomfortable there. Alot of traffic so you need to watch your belongings. People always in a hurry. But there are a few gems there. So as long as you aware of your surroundings its ok.

Please be safe, and on the lookout for pickpockets! Dunno why there is security there! Scary place! Avoid unless necessary.

For the mall thats is in the CBD it is disappointing. Not a lot of shops you can find here. It needs more attention. Most of the time the escalators are not working

Golden dog is actually a good place to buy to buy fruit and veg + is closer to shoprite chicken Chicken Licken or McDonald's or KFC and all those other places even though the train station is close by there so she can buy him anything like fruits vegetables

This center is probably the biggest center I didn't know existed! It has literally everything, but it's a bit tough to navigate if it's your first visit. I shopped at the clicks. Soviet store. Banks and the shoprite. But there really is a shop to cater for all needs!

Golden Acre is the custodian of one of the most iconic sites in the country...the Wagenaars dam, which was built is 1663. It is enclosed behind a glass screen. However that's all there is. A glass screen that people walk past without noticing. They also house a display showing a model of the first castle, which was where the parade is now. However, it's up an unused stairway, and not illuminated. Both of these elements could be used as tourist attractions, and as such, to bring people into the centre, not just as a walk through. Such a pity that the owners of the centre don't understand or care about the most important historical site in the country.

I've got to say that, the mall is clean and safe, though I don't remember seeing a lots of security guards inside the mall.

Most of the escalators are always not working, the tunnel coming into the acre from the deck is riddled with druggies, it dirty an unsanitary it's down right disgusting. And you have to hold on to your belongings it's unsafe !!!!!

Class A fruits at a very cheap price, let me say they look class A, I'm not an expert😎way better than my favorite super market🤐. Very sweet grapes, different kinds of grapes. I'm loving it, I mean the fruits. I buy them here on my way to Market Square and eat them along the way...Very cool and layed back no too much foot traffic atleast on Saturdays because that's when I come.

Medium size mall with some interesting shops. There is a "Soviet" brand shop there that offers decent price on clothes and shoes. A "ShopRite" is located underground but it had a feeling of being "crammed"

It is an all in one place in terms of shops and its closer to the taxi rank and has a big parking lot under

The Golden Acre is a historic and iconic shopping centre in Cape Town. It has been around since 1979, but it has undergone some upgrades and changes over the years. The shopping centre still retains its original look and feel, with a mix of old and new stores. The shopping centre offers a variety of products and services, from fashion and beauty to electronics and banking. The shopping centre is relatively safe and relaxed, but caution is still advisable and personal security is therefore tantamount. The shopping centre is conveniently located near the Cape Town train station and bus terminal, making it easy to access by public transport. The Golden Acre is a great place to shop, eat, and enjoy the city’s vibe. I give it four stars out of five.

Vibrant. Bustling. A maze of shops on different levels. Parking available at very reasonable price. Well worth walking through the building and going thru to join St. George's Mall. It an experience on another side of Cape Town.

This is not a place to go to, neither should it be a place to walk through. It has become completely chaotic as the mixture of those attempting to get to work vs those attempting to subtly remove your personal belongings is nearly unrecognisable. People are constantly running some form of scam, game or whatever which is a shame because it removes you from those tho can actually use your help and benevolence.

The Acre will always be the Acre, but it will never have the vibe of the 90's. Enjoy walking through it to get to heart of Cape Town. Always bustling with people. Security seems to be good and visible. Cleanliness all-round and a variety of shops.

Golden Acre mall offers a diverse selection with friendly staff. Clean stores, good prices, and convenient location make shopping here enjoyable.

The mall is clean, security personnel is visible, tiolets are not up to standerd and you have to pay a fee to use it, there is a sombre mood in the mall as the lighting is poor on some levels, the mall needs an urgent revamp to revive its status as a premium destination for shoppers, all major bank has Atms available however more Atms are required to cope with the amount of foot traffic through the mall, surveillance system is fully functional adding extra security for visitors, there is always a trendy crowd in the mall, my experience was good but it can be better.

Not a fan of this shopping mall. Just happy that my ATM is situated within the mall. Will not visit this mall if I desperately need too😔

  • 3/5 Naomi B. 1 year ago on Google
Regular selection of shops in a cavernous space that might have been better utilized. There are no benches like most shopping malls have. So, unless you are purchasing fast food, there is nowhere to sit. Also, the public toilets are in dire need of updating and seem rather unsanitary, considering that one has to pay R2 to use the facilities. Try and do better, please.

Lots of shops and restaurants to visit and so convenient if you use public transport, as the bus station, railway station and taxis are in close proximity

  • 5/5 Shireen B. 1 year ago on Google
Staff is always helpful when asking for assistance such as time of bus schedule or even trying to fine out where to locate the bus

  • 3/5 Rod S. 1 year ago on Google
Lacks the vibe of its heyday and is more like a walkthrough, but it still has some major stores and is conveniently open on a Sunday.

  • 3/5 Fatima B. 2 years ago on Google
It costs R2 to use a (beautifully clean and modern) toilet. And u must have the actual coin with u or go find it somewhere. Rather don't try to wait until it becomes an emergency.

It is a busy place but safe. Some traditional dance happened there as well. The shoprite there is very full. The queues are very long

I like strolling around in the acre, always gives off that City Vibe which is super awesome. You feel the hustle and bustle of the city and its just amazing being in the midst of it all.

  • 4/5 Najuwah 1 year ago on Google
Very busy due to it being in the CBD, dodge characters hanging in and around, so be vigilant and careful. Couple of good stores but also not the greatest.

  • 3/5 Mariamne W. 1 year ago on Google
It gets absolutely filthy around here recent years, so stay away (if you can) on a windy late afternoon or evening ....youl get a filthy dust and plastic garbage facial-dust bath! The place has been around for ages, and it's good to see the flower market still going. I just find it a bit too hectic and avoid it when I can. The atmosphere is zero. Most of the stores inside are just your regular corporate range, nothing individual, creative or artistic. Not a place to be proud of.

This terminus is very convenient for hassle free travelling to and from the Cape flats. It's always cheaper and much more convenient to travel during off peak hours.

An escalator was not working, which is not good seeing that the Golden Acre is busy over a weekend. Also, the overhead walkway from the Golden Acre to the Taxi Rank looks like it has not been cleaned for years! Imagine the impression it can leave on tourists if I as a local was disgusted on this lack of appeal.

Dirty and smelly. Visited the Wimpy. Bad service, bad food, bad experience. No ice available. Dirty table. Rubber patty on burger, burned dry onions and no mayonnaise on creamy mayo burger special. Worst Wimpy ever!! Filthiest mall ever. What a disgrace to Cape Town.

Place to be.Working in Greenpoint. Everything is close by. If I want to hope on the Myciti and visit the V&A Waterfront.

The golden acre, from a tourist perspective, seems a bit worse for the wear but very utilitarian. We were able to use the clinic to update prescriptions, no reservations required. ATMs, grocery, quick bites, and all sorts of consumables available but the place lacks updating and the feel is either tunnel luck below the grand cavern above. As single male I felt safe but was warned by locals to stay alert. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the place but I would say avoid it either. As a middle of the city utility and metro transfer point it was ok.
