Terrible gym. Way to many members for the size of the gym. And with all the members you would think they will have more than 4 benches. Very small weight area (you will rarely get a weight you are looking for). Very few machines. WiFi is almost non existent. Even if the gym isn't that full. Can not even play music on it. If you are looking to exercise outside and play tennis then virgin active Point will work for you. But that's about it.

This gym closes whenever whether its load shedding (powercuts) or not. It seems like staff jump at any chance to close the gym early. They disregard the Vitality members who pay a monthly discovery membership. Yes im emailing Vitality heads as well as I've been barred from entering the gym 2 hours before closing for the second time. Also cleaning staff use disenfectants that seep underneath the steamroom door. Might want to wear a mask inside steamroom. Oh and wear shoes to the showers cause they start cleaning sometimes 2 hours before closing time... soapy water is slippery on your way there.

A very busy gym, almost always at capacity. 40% of the equipment is run down and old, constantly being "refurbished". Appaling considering how much it costs to be a member. On the upside the staff is friendly and helpful and the classes are great.

Extremely overcrowded, especially during this pandemic... you barely see people wearing their mask. They do NOT wipe down equipment after use. Staff needs to be a bit more strict to enforce these rules. When they opened up in September and 50 people was the limit, that was great. Maybe you should bring that back, just a suggestion

A sales consultant at The Point Virgin Active persuaded me to open a contract in January eventhough I told him I would wait until February for my Vitality to kick in. However he continued to persuade me with a "good deal" and promised to refund my initial debit order once my Vitality kicked in. This was a lie as he just wanted commission. The money was never refunded and after months of contacting them no one responded, I was also put in contact with further sales people Kumbi and Patrick Narainsamy and was still ignored. Very poor customer service

Something terrible happened today at Virgin Point. I was waiting by a cable machine when I overheard a sweet older woman (60+) kindly ask a Personal Trainer why the tension was not right. The PT responded by saying he’s not a maintenance guy, he’s a PT and walked away. The lady stood there dumbfounded. The PT wears the Virgin Logo on his chest and offered ZERO help. Where were his manners, his general respect for an elder, and his ambassadorship?? I took it upon myself to go call a maintenance guy to help the lady. Guys, please step it up! There’s a great story called the Go-Giver which could really boost what it means to give a little extra. (It takes 1.5 hours to listen to on audible).

Generally a nice gym, but extremely overpriced, especially short term and always crowded. You have to come early in the mornings to get your money worth to work out freely. Every other time you have to wait and run for empty racks and machines.

Worst gym in Cape Town. Full of instagram wannabe-influencer types and haughty douchebags. Always crowded no matter what time of the day and creepy old men walking naked all around the locker room/sauna perving on younger guys. Terrible value for money.

The worst Virgin Active I've been to. The layout is terrible. Everyone is cramped in a tiny free wight section with insufficient equipment. Speaking of equipment. Nobody seems to pack it away. It's also old and falling apart. It's obvious this was built a long time ago. This gym needs a serious overhaul and redesign to make it practical for the modern Virgin Active member. It would also be great if the WiFi was faster than a 1998 dial-up connection.

This gym has great indoor training areas as well as a Nu cafe. They have a great outdoor training area as well, including volleyball and tennis courts. The gym has a great atmosphere and plenty of cardio & weight training machines and facilities. The bathrooms are also very nice and upscale. Overall I have no complaints.

The gym is always packed even on off hours which to me is one of the worst qualities in a gym. The personal coaches also take up lots of room and push normal members out of the way for their workouts which sucks if you do your own workouts. However there is almost everything you need to work out, and two large classrooms with good classes, and a pool I never use. There is a health cafe in there which is great, I love their blueberry peanut butter smoothie. All in all paid $117 for a single month and not quite worth it.

Really high quality equipment and lots of free weights - great value for money even when you don't have a yearly contract. Only downside is that some of the members are pretty rude and entitled. Never been to a gym with such a strong vibe like that before.

Great gym with a pool and outdoor facilities plus a cafe and seating area with Wi-Fi. Staff always helpful and friendly and equipment seems to be maintained well. Had to take off a star as when I left the gym (returned abroad) they kept taking money as a direct debit even though I’d cancelled in person and online multiple times. In the end I had to lodge a fraud claim with my bank. Not ideal.

I came by to ask about the membership options and they asked tons of my personal info just to let me that info. I had to battle to find out about the membership - simply because I didn't have my ID number on me. Guys, really?, why don't hand me a pamphlet with prices at the entrance? if your club is so strict and your cannot see a customer without an ID number? Very unfriendly and clicky club, sigh.

Far too over crowded. I’ve tried attending during “off-peak” hours and the same issue applies. Extremely busy gym where one needs to wait in line to use equipment. When requiring assistance in the gym for equipment that is not working (which happens often), there is a lack of urgency or care to even help. You have to search for assistance as nobody is on the floor ensuring things are running smoothly. Another disappointment to add is that the gym equipment is always filthy. People just do not clean up after themselves and the gym should be more aware of this issue and ensure things are kept clean. The location of the gym is great but I think they’ve lost control of how many people should have access to the gym. Definitely overselling memberships over the actual capacity of the gym.

This gym looks great from afar but on closer inspection you can see that the equipment is run-down and needs replacing. There is never enough equipment in the outdoor area (one day there are 3 bars, then there's none, plates missing, dumbells disappear, etc) Always crowded (but what can you do?) - best to come super early or super late And yes, no generators here which is super strange for such a reputable brand

Great Pump, Shape (Shaun & Jane) & Yoga classes but disappointingly, twice have driven the 19 kms round trip this holiday, only to get there & hear the instructor not avail, so class is cancelled. Christmas Eve (5.30am) & Boxing Day 😩 Booked online & arrived to hear all early morning classes (6.30am) are cancelled yet these classes are still showing on booking app with nothing to say classes are cancelled till further notice. Another wasted 19km round trip 🤦‍♀️ End Jan booked online & (6.15am) class cancelled again with NO notice. Another wasted 19km round trip 🤦‍♀️

Green Point Virgin Active has a wide variety of facilities such as Squash, Lap Pool, Club-V (Kids Gym), Outdoor Pool, Sauna, Steam Room, Weight Training, Tennis and Beach Volleyball. The club also has a Nü Bar for those wanting a pre or post gym snack. Equipment at this gym is a bit older than the equipment at other gyms but it’s got most of the equipment you need.

Lots of machines and never too crowded. The set-up is rather strange as anyone who is upstairs doing cardio looks straight down onto those lifting weights. The pool requires a swim cap, so we asked the club manager if they had any. He said they didn’t that day, but normally they have caps to give to members. We returned a week later, and the employee said they only have swim caps available if there’s some in the lost and found. I think if that’s a requirement they should be provided. We visited the Wembley Square location and they had swim caps available to borrow.

OK facilities but worst customer service ever. Signed up for a month since I was in town to do business and was offered a promotional rate which suited me well. Next thing I know was that they kept on taking money out of my account for another four months after I left the country. Multiple, in fact uncountable, emails later they refunded me two months worth of fees but told me that the other two deductions were used to cover cancellation fees. I explained that there was no mention of such fees when I signed up and requested the matter to be reviewed, reassessed and resolved by a senior manager but this is still 'in the making' - 6 months after I left. Can't even put my disappointment and frustration into words but this is simply not acceptable.

(Translated by Google) This is by far the best workout - @ sweat_1000 - for runners and cyclists! Because you stand or sit on a running treadmill or spinning bike with 30 people in a row, where you test in a kind of shuttle run, go faster and walk on incline or cycle. Then you step off for exercises on the ground (HITT). And you always change that. This is by far the most popular workout from ZA. You can also find very modeling Cape Town, which is confrontational again. And after all these years, this concept is becoming an international one at a time. With London as the nearest location in the near future. # S1K (Original) Dit is verreweg de beste workout - @sweat_1000 - voor hardlopers en wielrenners! What a dishonest team at Virgin Active Green Point. I’ve signed a contract at Virgin Active Green Point 3 times for my Discovery membership and I am still being charged the normal amount and being told my membership isn’t loaded in the system. Our sales agent, Richard pushed for us to sign up but now months later has “no knowledge of who we are” after booking our tennis courts, talking to us on WhatsApp and signing us up as members. I’ve been a Discovery member for 4 months already however still being charged the full amount. Please can the correct person make contact with me to rectify this urgently. It seems that this is the only way to make contact since no one has been able to assist me on multiple calls and mails.

An amazing gym. Has the kindest staff and an amazing vibe. The equipment is in good condition and the setup of the machines and weights are good. I love the outdoor gym area! It does get very busy most of the day so most equipment is taken and your workouts will take longer. A bit more free weights would not hurt as well.

UPDATE: They keep charging us every month when we cancelled our contract 3 months ago!!! THIEVES. They lied to us about being able to freeze the contract during the months we are abroad for free (it is NOT free, you are paying 20% each month even if you are not there). Then after countless hours asking for explanations on several occasions, no solution was given to us. R1,900 a month is definitely not cheap, and it is fine to pay a premium price if the service is good but this is definitely not the case. Not to mention the gym is ALWAYS, at ANY TIME, packed and it's almost impossible to find a spot to work out... Stay away.

Idiotic corporate policy. 1. I was a happy customer for a long time. 2. Last week, their call center started annoying me every morning with harrassment calls. They call you, without introducing themselves they tell you that they will record the call, then they request that you give them your personal data. They refuse to tell you what they want, then they end the call in your ear. 3. This went on every morning until I eventually shouted at them and ended the membership with immediate effect. 4. The day after I cancelled my membership, the harrassment calls stopped. 5. Club manager apologized but was unable to help apart from sending me a confirmation that membership was cancelled. How the hell do you operate your business? You are seriously willfully harrassing your customers until they cancel their membership?!

Been fortunate to visit most of the VA clubs and have found their front desk staff to be pleasant. With the exception of this morning when I visited the greenpoint branch enquiring about a day pass. I've been a VA member for the past 10 years and wanted to play 1 game (approx 1 hour) of squash with a friend coming down from the states. The day pass of R 335 is ridiculous, when enquired one staff member said It shouldn't be a problem and she'll have a consultant phone me back, I never received a call. I went into the branch and waited 30min and still yet to see a consultant. Poor service delivery. Theres really no customer service for long standing clients. Really sad.

Employees are always friendly, equipment and machines are well taken care of and I find this gym in particular has a very friendly, positive vibe. It offers a wide range of classes and facilities, more than most other virgin active branches, due to the large amount of space available to them. There are tennis courts and squash courts which can easily be used through a free booking system (if you have a membership). They are constantly renovating and improving by offering new padel courts for instance. Highly recommend this gym if you’re in the Cape Town area!

  • 2/5 J F. 6 months ago on Google
I used this gym during my stay in Cape Town (original gym is in Joburg). This gym can really upgrade their equipment, such as their dumbbells, mats, and foam rollers. The foam rollers felt useless since the bumps were all smoothed out. The overall layout of the gym is also uncomfortable, it felt like people are looking at you no matter where you stood. I forgot my slippers one day and had to shower without them. The floor felt slimy, and some of the shower heads were weak and broken. The staff here are also not as welcoming as what I had experienced in my base gym.

Decent sized Gym with a NU Cafe upstairs. Has 3 squash Courts, tennis and Volleyball court outside. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Just gets quite busy between 5pm - 7pm on weekdays
