Wow wow wow! What a gym! Virgin Active Silo District is one of those places you have to see to believe. I have been to a lot of gyms, but none can compare with this. When you arrive you are met by the friendly staff that makes you feel right at home. After a guided tour through the facilities, you are set to go. The lounge and dining areas are clean, stylishly furnished, and very spacious. The gym itself has all the equipment you could need. The equipment looks and feels brand new. The cleaning staff is constantly busy keeping everything 100%. Bathrooms are beautiful, spacious, and very clean. There is a men's barber on-site if you require a haircut or shave. The steam room, sauna, and huge jacuzzi are fantastic. All and all this was my best experience at a gym ever. I can't wait to visit again. Virgin Active Silo District is the best gym in Cape Town by far!

Top class gym. It offers high quality equipment, ample space and it is one of the quieter Virgin Active branches I’ve been to. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. However, it is a very expensive.

Definitely no place for expats!!! I was a happy customer for the time I was in South Africa and visited this gym as well as the one on Alice Lane in Johannesburg. Before leaving the country, I canceled my membership and paid a cancellation fee, which was totally fine. Unfortunately, the gym kept on taking the monthly fee without me being able to do anything. This happened FOR ONE ENTIRE YEAR!! Absolutely ridiculous, I would advise any expat to not go to this gym. Get yourself a personal trainer instead and don‘t push money to this gym!! Highly disappointed!!!

Horrible policy...they don't want you. I have been going to gyms all over the world and when I have lived in countries with a Virgin Active I have been a member for years. The one in Namibia in Klein Kuppe says "young or old fit or unfit, it's all good". I like that; gyms are for people; to be used by all. When regular gym goers travel we need to exercise and many gyms appreciate this and for a small fee let you use the gym. The day pass here is ZAR 600 - which most of us will use for one hour. I can afford it but I find that approach horrible. It tells me you don't want me. The second gym I walked away from tonight.

This gym really needs an upgrade. Old old old equipment. Quite a few machines have been removed for Covid. Thus there are not enough machines for everybody, wait your turn. Reception staff are very unfriendly. Avoid this gym and rather go to another.

Absolutely Terrible Experience! I went in with my wife who had a free pass from me because I just signed up. They did not let my wife in on the free pass because she is a trainer at another branch! Absolutely Disgusting to treat someone who has been working for Virgin active for 20 Years!! Definitely lost all my respect for this Gym.

My favorite place to be😊 The classes are top-notch, the staff is amazing. We get our clothes ironed and shoes shined. There's a jacuzzi, and we get towel. Definitely worth the price

Great gym. Andile, the lovely receptionist walked me through as I'm from another city, showing me everything I needed. Lovely change rooms.

My experience at this gym has been deteriorating. The level of service is not up too scratch. Coming back after a month break over the festive season and finding multiple amenities out of order, seem to have become the standard. Coming this Feb I will be deducting a star every 30 days until these services are restored.

This particular gym is unsafe to train in due to cold temperatures. I developed a muscular injury from stretching in the literal area dedicated to stretching because it's circa 19 degrees inside the entire gym including changing rooms and coworking space/cafe. I shared feedback with the staff multiple times, the answer is always the same: if we increase the temperature some ppl complain. Multiple other members have told me they mentioned this to the staff and got the same cold shoulder. Additionally, I continuously get charged twice for the gym membership, despite feeding this back to reception multiple times and the admin and red tape it creates for me (extremely unresponsive to emails and whatsapps) is not at all in line with a gym supposed to offer a premium experience. I wont be renewing my membership and have stopped recommending this gym to friends. Since nothing is done to improve the experience when discussing with the staff, Im posting here in the hope of making others aware. Avoid Silo unless you dont mind training in subpar temperatures and arent too mindful of customer care.

My honest opinion after trying various gyms in this chain is that the whole operation is in dire need of an update and revamp. The gyms are reminiscent of 1995 with outdated equipment, minimal functional training space and awful lighting. By far and away the most irritating part of the experience for regulars and tourists is the rigidity of a rules based membership which rip-off and deters tourists and is completely unwelcoming and inflexible for locals. If you are visiting Cape Town search for gyms in De Waterkant and Seapoint as there are others with far better equipment and flexible options for membership. The reception and sales staff at Silo are are not empowered to think.

Upmarket Virgin Gym in the Waterfront. The restaurant area looks like a Business Class lounge complete with boardroom. You can have your shoes polished and shirt steam ironed whilst you gym. Besides the usual sauna and steam room there's also a jacuzzi. Gym machines are state of the art with monitors indicating if you're going to slow or fast.

Virgin Active Silo District (VASD) is the nicest gym you will find in the area. It has many extra facilities such as a sauna, jaccuzzi, swimming pool, amazing showers, electronic lockers, health restaurant, and office facilities for remote workers. The gym is squeaky clean and the employees are very nice. VASD has all the cardio equipment you need (and more) but lacks in the area of machines and free weight or plates. For example, the gym has only a few plate loaded machines and does not have a simple Pulley machine nor do they have an Incline Chest Press machine. The dumbbells go up til 50kg but for a gym that charges 600R for a day pass, I expected more.

Called there to enquire about a membership and was told to come by so I can have a look and a workout and speak to one of their consultants. Made time to go there on a Sat morning just to be told there wouldn't be a record of the conversation I have had with the consultant and that at the moment nobody would be around to be able to help me and I wouldn't be able to come in to have a look around or workout. All this was confirmed by a manager onsite, who didn't even make abs effort to resolve this in a professional, customer focused and convenient manner, so I left, especially after they offered me to buy a PayPass for a horrendous fee. Are you really serious? Worst experience ever and such a waste of time. Staff needs to be trained appropriately and management review the qualification and experience of their talent there - if it can be called that.

I have national membership for Virgin Active and I tried to go to this virgin active gym once (and I know you need some extra privilege on your membership). But they practically chased me a away and said go try N1 City. Not even giving me a chance to find out I possibly can extend my membership. To some extend saying I can not afford it. Very insulting.

Best gym in Cape Town. Lots of equipment, even very specialised machines, high tech, great atmosphere, not crowded at all. Great spa, jacuzzi and cold plunge and a pool as well. Office space and a bar and amazing helpful staff. Worth the price.

I’m impressed by its cleanliness and the well-maintained gym equipment. The staff is friendly, although there's room for improvement in terms of professionalism. The only downside was the strange smell in the elevator. Overall, it's a great gym with a high standard of facilities.

Best gym of all the gyms in South Africa. Most professional personal trainers in the game. Especially Schalk. He's got the highest experience when it comes to modern training and bodybuilding. Go make a turn today and ask him anything on training. You guys rock.

Solid gym. Everything you need. They even have a barber shop and someone who will press your clothes while working out. Free weights. Swimming pool. Sauna. Steam room. Jacuzzi. 10/10

Great facilities and gym. Was told I could come to the gym over the phone and once coming in Themba at the front desk was rude and condescending towards us, there is obviously a mismatch of information from the sales representatives and the on floor staff, which is fine but the way Themba handled the situation was rude and unprofessional as he didn’t even offer a tour of the facilities, I had to ask. I would sign up for the gym for the facilities not the poor treatment from the front desk, as Themba reacted in a way as if we weren’t the correct clientele for his gym. Quite shocking as my experiences at virgin active for the past 10 years have been great.

Hygienic and clean at all times, all gym equipment is in excellent condition, bathrooms are nicely done, friendly polite staff. Seating area at the NU cafe is decent and food is really good! I have never seen a gym as amazing as this one anywhere is the world.

Stunning gym just sucks that my iPad got stolen out of my locker on the first visit. Won't be returning.

Had a day pass which clearly said any virgin active gym. Made a longer way to see these facilities only to be told I can not use this daypass but can buy one for 600. Disappointing.

Premium Virgin gym which has a lobby that many people work from. You can book private rooms and there is also a Nu cafe. The gym is usually not too busy and so working out is comfortable without wait times for the machines

Great place to gym at. Staff are very nice and always friendly. One or two good personal trainers that helped me with form and exercising regularly.

This is a stunning gym. It is spotless with great facilities. Top quality gear. The management team really pay attention to their club. The reception staff are constantly trying to offer help with a smile. The cleaning staff don't stop. They are always busy. You actually have to see it to believe it. Its a really special place and worth paying a visit. Right through covid everyone at this gym did everything possible to stay sane and smile with all the restrictions. They deserve a medal for putting up with members through a pandemic. ;-)

I just got a visitor's pass for the day, but it was great to see a gym operating at this level. Great amenities, work area, modern equipment, views, etc, etc.

So many reasons why I absolutely love this space. More than a gym, a place to breathe, to re-energize and recover. Been to many Virgin Active clubs and there is no comparison. Not even Virgin Active, Kensington London come close.

The best gym in Cape Town. Simple as that. Oh ok ... barber and clothes pressing ... the best equipment ... shoe polishing station ... the friendliest staff ... great pool ... plenty of space. A few posers here and there, but don't let them bother you. And an awesome workspace for when you're tired of your home office. Love it.

Very clean, the only place I've felt comfortable working out indoors. Good assortment of classes and tons of amenities, including Nu Cafe, sports massage, multiple conference rooms. Catered to the professional fitness enthusiast.

A place for your mind & body. A workspace. A play space. Truly a haven in the heart of Cape Town - luxurious gym looking over the silo, staff are super capable, friendly, and professional. If you don’t get got here, there’s no hope for you 😂- beautiful gym. One of the best in SA, no doubt. Totally worth the entrance fee.
