Terrible terrible service. Zero communication skills. Very impolite and unorganized. Most nurses employed are clearly in the wrong profession, they should apply at Pollsmoor instead. They took my babies blanket as "their linen" replaced it with a towel and when asked where it was...its already gone to the linen bank. Yes and??? That means nothing to me. You either go find it or replace it!! You dont just brush it off like its nothing. You dont get your painkillers on time, I could go on and on. What century are we living in? They make giving birth feel like committing a crime!!

I spent four days at Mowbray Maternity Hospital, and I found the experience incredibly traumatic and invasive. Seven months later I am still coming to terms with the terrible experience I had at this hospital. I was honestly made to feel like an animal, there is absolutely no regard for the individual patient, and no privacy whatsoever, my body felt exposed and violated in many ways. That is something I have deeply internalized and feel present on my body on a day to day basis. I seldomly understood what was happening and often felt neglected and forgotten about. I was so desperate to leave that I felt myself falling into a state of depression that was preventing me from bonding with my baby. My baby was born in winter and they took away all of the clothes and blankets I had packed in my hospital bag. My baby was shivering and his feet were blue, what still there was a draft coming in from the window yet they refused to let me dress him, all they gave to me were two incredibly rough and hard towels that gave my baby rashes on his bare skin. He lost alot of weight due to that and when they finally returned the clothes I had packed when I was due to check out, I found some of the things were missing.

I had a horrible experience, giving birth to my third baby. I arrive there @00:00 in labour 14 March. They did not wait for me to push my baby out, they took their equipments and pull out the baby out after 30 minutes of pushing. Who can push the baby out in 30 minutes? In trying to pull the baby they touch pelvic bones which could not go back to their position, it remain open 7 cm wide according to the X-ray.. I was in crucial pain and transferred to grooteschur hospital. I was discharged promised home based care but no one come. Until this day I still can’t walk. I am using a Walker. I will never recommend anyone there.

My first time coming here. The people at the front desk with security should be fired. They are extremely rude and lazy. They sit and chit chat and do nothing whole day besides being rude to people who ask questions due to this being their very first visit. They are only nice to certain people. This I have noticed for the entire 4 hours of sitting here. Others can walk in and out of this hospital as they please. Others are stopped and being rude to. Dont know why money is wasted on people that does nothing when there are more deserving staff to employ

Unfortunately I had to put 1 star to actually post...so my real figure is actually no star...they woke my wife up at 12 the night and told her that she has to share her room with a couple who just gave birth. So now there are 3 adults and 2 babies in a bathroom size room...unacceptable and extremely furious.qhat are they thinking...we had to wait almost a whole day to get a room and that was in the labour ward.now I understand that after birth all mothers need space and time and that's why after an hour of giving birth to our daughter I removed myself from the room my wife was sharing with other mothers who just gave birth and who also was waiting for rooms, just to not let them feel intruded by having a Male in the room cos let's face it to sit there in a hospital gown isn't comfortable and to have another man seeing all this can be upsetting so yeah...I'm very upset by this and know they can do alot alot better. Don't get me started on the security downstairs at reception... Very concerned parent

90% of the nursing staff is arrogant and not friendly at all. They should rather become prison wardens. They completely take away the magical and blessed moments of bringing a child into this world. I'm only a grandparent but both my daughters gave birth there and it was terrible. Why their husbands aren't allowed to be with them through the whole process is beyond me.

The worst experience I have ever had. Before I went there i heard a lot of good things said about the hospital only now to have my baby in a place where the nurses cannot even speak to you decently or listen to you. The communication is BAD,as I write this I am in tears. A csection scar, newborn and hell is not the best combination. Cannot wait to leave

Worst experience ever. I'm not sure how these nurses found themselves in this job. There lack of interest is mind boggling. They expect a mother that has just had a ceaserian to come and find them. They are a bunch of ignorant people milking the system. They don't know how to assist you. Waiting hours for medication because my breastfeeding are not producing milk. Informed them that the same thing happened with my other kids. Horrible horrible

The service from the night shift nurses are absolutely horrible. I gave birth and was in extreme pain due to injury during labour, the night nurses refused to help me, I was called lazy, I couldn't walk at all, I went to a private gp after discharge and was diagnosed with pelvic diatisis, 1 month later Im still suffering from pelvic pain and lower back pain, I could move when laying down. When I told the nurse about my extreme pain, it was ignored. I felt extreme depression because I was unable to do anything for myself and needed help with my baby, and it was not given to me. It's pathetic of the service you receive because it's a public hospital, as if these nurses are paying for your stay at the hospital.

For a government hospital I was impressed and treated well. I would use this hospital again or recommend it to others. The only down side was their food wasn’t the best but had to manage with it after giving birth . I am glad I used this hospital

I went into preterm labour at 33 weeks and had nothing but an amazing experience from everyone who assisted me, from Sister Hill who did all my antenatal check ups, to the staff in labour ward on duty the morning of 23 March 2021 with Sister Waugh, the Doctors and the rest of the nursing staff, I cannot thank you enough. The 2 midwives who guided me through my delivery were phenomenal and so supportive. Thank you very much β™₯️

First time giving birth in a public hospital. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The staff are actually very nice, never encountered rude persons. Nurses always coming in wards doing their rounds which is really good considering that there is Covid they still take really good care of patients. Only downfall is the cleaning ladies that are always making noise. I gave Birth during Christmas holiday 24/12/2020 to be exact so all bosses were away hence too much noise from the cleaning staff who just come in the ward and start cleaning whilst making noise. I had a C section and everything was smooth until I was discharged. Thank you MMH and thank you all frontline workers...... The worst is the slim lady, the sonographer. She needs help she is soooo cold and everything she does is hurried, she doesnt explain the scan in depth I really really wish she can resign and actually get to do what she enjoys cz clearly being a sonographer is not one of them. She is the WORST WORST WORST in the whole hospital thats why I gave it a 4star rating if it wasnt for her it was going to be 5stars.

Gave birth to my beautiful daughter two days ago (04/03/22). Had the most amazing experience. Outstanding staff from the security guards who ensured I had parking space for the duration I'd be in hospital to the nurses who helped bring my baby to the world. For someone who had previously delivered at a private hospital before, I was rather impressed by the impeccable service I received at mowbray maternity hospital. Thank you so much for the amazing service!!!!

I brought my wife in lastnite I haven't seen her since then, I'm sitting whole day outside.I understand with this pendemic we have to take measures, but for a 1st time mother she needs that support because with the extreme pain.its mentally physically and emotionally,The staff are so neverminded and arrogant and they are mostly the reason why alot people do not want to come back here it's our first child and for any mother to be and to go through this alone is unacceptable.

Nurses there are terrible... They should be in jobs where they don't have to work with any people...also they treat you way better if you are the same race as they are. Also if there are different nationalities then English should be the main language,so that everyone can understand.

Tried calling . They have security at the switch board who doesn't even know how to transfer a call. Got cut off 7 times after they've transferred me 7 times? ( shaking my head). If they want staff to be multi skilled then they need to train accordingly ?

Horrible experience. Arrogant staff. It seems as if they hate their jobs. They made the birth of my first child a traumatic experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. There were kind staff members but the majority of them had putrid attitudes towards their patients.

I delivered on the 24 November 2018 through emergeny c cection, it was my first operation ever since i was born. 2 hours after i came out of theatre i couldnt breath, i couldnt even hold my baby. Sister Zulu came to help me, she took my baby and called the doctors for me. She is the best and she really loves what she does.

This was a great place to deliver my baby and i felt looked after by the staff. Sister hill at LABU along with sister conradie were really caring and thourough. The quality of service and care in ward B was amazing. My impressions of this particular hospital was not great from stories i heard but my personal experience was like night and day. I will always be grateful to the women who took care of me and my baby while i stayed there. Thank you sisters godana, cain, buizic, versagie and many more at ward b for making my delivery and after care one to remember and cherish.

Wow... we pay taxes and this is what you get... my sis has been told to wait in a waiting area ..there are no beds... she is in labour, no partner is allowed ..sitting on a hard bench...really... while the state is waiting for Covid 19 cases with plenty of beds to spare at the CTICC...women have to wait ,hope and pray they dont give birth in a hospital lobby.. what has this country come to... Mowbray is supposed to be of the better hospitals..my ### yes... Once we get our healthcare system right...maybe then there will be hope..Cyril..and that lady that claims to be the minister of Health... please there are bigger problems than Covid 19.... unfortunately i have to rate a star.. but zero is what you should get...

I have to applaud the nurses that worked here from the 20th June 2023 to the 27th June 2023, you ladies are amazing!!! Thank you so much for everything you done for me and my little one! I truly appreciate it. From general ward to ICU, to High care and special care - you ladies were truly great! More often than not, people complain about government hospitals and entities but these nurses who worked here for that entire week I was there was so helpful and so professional. From the nurses, to the cleaner to the caterers(the food was so lekker) , I honestly felt like I was at a private hospital and would have paid for the treatment I got. I gave birth to my first little one and it was a great experience at Mowbray, from my pre-natal visits to giving birth to post birth....you ladies are truly amazing and thank you once again for your hard work and making first time moms birthing experience pleasant.

I pushed my baby boy out this morning and can say Mowbray Maternity staff and the setup was EXCELLENT QUALITY service! All staff were so friendly, understanding and did not give any attitude. They kept coming in to check on me while in labor. I even received morphine and they provided my baby with a beany, nappies and maternity pads. I even got to take a hot shower😁 I would NOT go Somerset, MOWBRAY ALL THE WAY!!!

I had the worst experience ever. Will not recommend anyone to go there at all. Being a 1st time mum, they made my experience horrible. They are so rude there. The staff do not know how to treat people , they are so rude! They treated my mum so poorly not knowing she is a retired midwife herself. Its as if the staff hate their jobs. Being in the healthcare sector yoy need to have compassion for people something these people lack

My first time visit to the hospital was awful!!! The manager in charge Ms Jacob's had such an attitude!! My niece was in hospital and had been asking for something just to wash in and salt as she had stitches after giving birth. She had arrived at the hospital on the 9th and asked the nurses who told her to shower in a bathroom that was dirty. On the 10th because she had not recieved the basin and salt yet she asked me to drop it off. It wasn't accepted and Ms Jacob's literally after speaking to her and seeing that I had not left told me to leave and asked why I was still there. I explained that my niece had said that she had been asking since the 9th already. MS Jacob's took her name down and which ward she was in and told me that she would get 1 but that it wouldn't happen immediately. What has nursing turned into. If you have no compassion please dont take up the profession only for the money that you get paid every month. If I was treated like that as someone who was just coming ro enquire if I could drop it off thank God I was not actually 1 of the mothers in the hospital. I'm also a public servant but I try to go above and beyond to help and assist. I'm also in a leadership position with alot of pressure but no human being has the right to treat another human being in this manner. My niece had stitches, it was bleeding if I had not again brought it to their attention how much longer would she have had waited? It eventually took them 3 hours after she had again asked a doctor. God forbid that this happens again.

Today was my first experience at Mowbray. From bookings, to every other department was a wonderful and a calming experience. SR Williams is AMAZING. Every single staff member there goes over and above. They are not only cheerful and make conversation, but they take a genuine, personalized interest in every patient. Mowbray, I am IMPRESSED. Thank you for such a uniform system in your maternity hospital and the upkeep thereof. Susan Cook- an ex private hospital patient. I would highly recommend this hospital to any mother within the demographics who os not on medical aid.

I was in theatre for stitches inside me. I lost so much blood that they had to give me blood and a drip. However no one offer to wash me after 2 days. I just feel like going home. I couldn't change my baby, so I waited for my mom , for visiting time. I feel so helpless. Can someone help me. I can't stand cos I'm dizzy. I already fell twice by trying to sit up. The staff is just generally respectful and kind which is just what you need during pregnancy. The place is very clean from the Antenatal clinic to the labour wards to the postnatal wards. I pray that they keep up the good work

Mowbray needs help it's honestly sad how people get treated.. I'm sick out of my stomach of how the nurses treat mommy's who gave birth and especially c sections😭😭😭I had the worst time of my life and I'm definitely writing a report and sending it to the department of health. Having to be moved to a ward that had nothing to do with mommies who had c section sitting there with so much pain not once did the nurses come and check up on me and my baby girl 6th of November 2020 Friday afternoon I had to call my boyfriend and sister because the nurse kept telling me I must wait only to find out I was in a wrong ward. After my boyfriend called the Mowbray hospital I had a nurse come rush in and take me to ward 34 emergency for c section mommies than only I was checked on... I had nice nurses about 4 that truly cared for everyone but the rest. It's honestly sad that we only numbers thank God me and my child are healthy my family and friends prayed so much.... But I would never ever recommend Mowbray hospital it's sad from being the no 1 hospital back in the day to becoming the worst the department must really look into this. I had a c section on the 5th of November my baby was born 3h05am on a Thursday morning after that my whole life changed the doctors are so nice but the nurses they need to go back and start loving what they do in order to treat people right. My report will be going to to the department of health regarding Mowbray hospital very soon.

Never ever again my son was born 19/05 wife never had breast milk she constantly informed them about the lack of milk in her breast my boy stayed without milk for 4 days untill he became dehydrated then only they gave him a bit of formula he lost so much weight in those 4 days I didn't know what to do. No help was offered all complaints fell on deaf ears wife had to lay for 12 days first 4 days we had a hungry boy. How can I be said that "we are only here for the money" . Straight from the horses mouth!!! With all due respect parents ill never ever recommend anyone to Mowbray. I literally took formula to wife 3 times a day to feed our child ourself without them knowing .

Mowbray Maternity is an excellent hospital, I had a wonderful experience because of the incredible work done by Sister Williams and Sister Hill. What an amazing team of midwives who treat each patient with the utmost dignity and genuine care. Sister Williams who runs the LANC clinic is a midwife like no other, she genuinely listens to her patients and is highly experienced. Sister Hill who runs the high risk clinic takes amazing care in the stressful circumstances of being high risk. I cannot express my gratitude to these amazing women who have dedicated their lives to the care and wellbeing of pregnant ladies. My daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy,she told them that baby was not getting enough and that the doctors told her due to her breast reduction she might not be able to break feed but it fell on deaf ears.Baby lost so much weight form the time he was born to the time he came home. She had a awful experience after a C section. They seriously need to step up or close

I went to have a vaccine booster. Good fast service, no queues, but I had to walk a long way from my car to the entrance in blazing sunshine up a slope. The pedestrian stairway was locked.

Worse experience ever unfriendly staff Long hours sit in pain Sent away from the hospital feeling unwell and in pains without proper examination whatsoever nurses make their own assumptions to say what is wrong with the patient before examining.... Terrible service... Not to mention the foreign doctors and nurses on duty they treat Muslims with no respect

Staff downstairs not that friendly, but incredible medical teams upstairs. I wish one could pay and be a private patient, instead of having to live nearby in order to qualify.

Clean environment. The street leading to the hospital is often parked during the day.
