My 5 year old and I went to the aquarium. Popped into Bootlegger for a bite to eat. Now admittedly I have been to the Bootlegger in Century City a few times and it's not a franchise I would normally go to with my kids, but this specific Bootlegger next to the aquarium is quite kid friendly and has some nice outdoor seating. My daughter had kids chicken strips which were really nice and the portion was generous. I even asked if the waitress was sure its a kids portion. I did a DIY breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage and sourdough bread. My only criticism, and this is across the entire franchise is that I prefer my coffee in a proper mug.

One thing that I really liked is that they serve breakfast menu throughout the whole day! 😉 I tried their burger without bun and found the patty a bit too try for my taste. I also tried the chicken strips and they were perfect, crispy on the outside and tender inside just as i love them! Much appreciate the service and the staffs were very friendly!

I went to Bootleggers today with my colleagues. We were there at about 9h40 and the place wasn’t that busy. We ordered our drink and when they arrived they were not piping hot but more warm. However I did enjoy my chai latte. We ordered our foods, which came out at a decent time. The buttermilk flapjacks was not a hit. It was too thick, floury and so little golden syrup. Definitely not light and fluffy as you would expect. Also got the cheese and tomato sandwich, which was average. I also ordered chips on the side, some were very over done. Having ordered chips no one offers you sauce, which most places do especially if it’s not on the table. Eventually they bring the sauce in a gravy jug when asked. The croissant breakfast rolls were good and enjoyable. They were a decent size and filling. My experience was not excellent. But I would like to return and give Bootleggers another chance to redeem themselves.

Popped in at this branch and enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate and a tasty hot breakfast of Peri peri chicken livers. Perfect for a cold morning. I could keep an eye on the kids in the play area whilst having the meal. The service was prompt and friendly. The meal was hot and the coffee perfectly extracted. I will be back.

We went on Saturday, the same day as the boat show. It was busy and service was very poor. We ordered food as soon as our drinks arrived at the table. It took very long and never saw the waiter again. He never came to the table to check if we needed more drink or to inform us on how long the food will take. When the food eventually arrived one meal was served cold. The flavor wasn't great, I expected more. They have a big premises and should be able to handle a full restaurant as they are located at the waterfront. Especially on days of events. Will not go there again but might try another branch some day, but not soon.

The service here could be better in terms of the number of staff available- especially for busy days and public holidays. The waiters were friendly but you could tell they were overwhelmed which was unfortunate. The food itself was decent, although it did take very long for us to get it. The chicken strips for the kids were very dry but the pizza was flavourful. The milkshake was the highlight- it was a proper milkshake made with real ingredients rather than being filled with flavourings and colourants. That was really great. Overall the value for money was not great but I would visit again on a day that’s not so busy to reevaluate them. Perhaps avoid them on weekends and public holidays.

Prophet, the barista at the aquarium kiosk, knows his stuff. He is a genuine barista. He is the only one out of all the Bootleggers that explained about the coffee temperature and asked if I wanted it hotter. He also asked whether I'd be taking my water still or sparkling to accompany the coffee without me asking for water. This is important as coffee is a natural diuretic. I had a flat white which means more coffee in the cup and is delicious. Whilst they did not have anything savoury except for the croissant, he referred me to the main branch so they could heat it up for me while he prepared my coffee. They should really provide more savoury options such as toasties at least. I was indecisive but had a chocolate tart which is made with pure dark Belgian chocolate to accompany my coffee and lemon meringue tart just because it's my favourite. I will definitely be visiting this kiosk again as the service is fast and the barista has a smile that will brighten anybody's day.

Edit: issue was resolved since posting review and staff are now happy to seat customers from 8am, appreciate that the feedback was received and acted on The opening hours are wrong - they offer takeaways at 8, but only open for sit down at 9. The staff were understandably annoyed at us showing up at 8 (with a few rude comments) but the baristas and one waiter were lovely and welcoming which we so appreciated after a long drive. Planned the whole morning around their advertised opening hours, and apparently it’s a daily occurrence so whoever is in charge clearly doesn’t care enough to update them. It’s especially frustrating as a place specifically marketed towards parents of young children.

Where do I begin. The service was amazing. We got attend The food was amazing. Everything was amazing especially our waiter Alan (I think that how you say your name, I’m sorry if I said it wrong). He was sweet and made me and my friend feel so welcomed. Because of him I will be coming back. Nothing but good things about this Bootleggers, probably the best in Cape Town.

So disappointed in the service my son changed his mind about having a cookie and we were told their system doesn’t allow for exchanges and the prices were expensive R32 for a little biscuit 😡

The burger was dry, so dry like it was dried meat. The service dismal. It was a group of us from the business school and I can confidently say no more. We pre-booked yet we had no place to sit. Customers had to be moved to accommodate our large group. Dismal really.

I bought a cheese croissant in the morning and it was not fresh at all. I then went back and mentioned this and they gave me a new one claiming that it is better and fresh. Upon taking the first bite - EXACTLY THE SAME THING! It tasted like it was made the day before and just heated up. It was dry and not even properly heated. I didn't go back to return the second one as I had to get back to work. Totally disappointing.

A lovely place to go to after visiting the aquarium. Great service and the best view of the beautiful table mountain. It also has a lovely playground for children. The menu offers not only coffee and drinks, but all sorts of food that'll make your mouth water

Love the spot, and food is always great. Friendly staff are always eager to help. However, the bathroom is consistently filthy. Soap dispenser broken, water all over the floor. Would otherwise give a 5 star.

We were recently on our honeymoon in Cape Town and passed by after visiting the aquarium. The service we received from Selwyn Bibby was so amazing, funny, genuine and kind that we ended up coming back another 2 times during our week-long holiday just because of him. I would really like to commend Selwyn for his outstanding service and wonderful, friendly nature. Bootlegger is now a highlighted memory for us during our honeymoon and it's all because of the experience that Selwyn gave us. He went all the extra miles to make us feel special and even had a little farewell treat for us on our last day. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for the experience and views, and the food was pretty good too.

Terrible food. The Chicken Mayo's we ordered hardly had any chicken on it, so bland and unappetizing. The chips were all dry, the salad was just thrown into the takeaway we asked for, looking like a mess. No effort was made at all. I really will not reccommend these specific dishes/meals. The waiter had a nonchalant attitude. Not impressed Bootleggers @TwoOceans. I will certainly not be visiting any time soon again.

Myself and my husband spent the morning at Bootleggers Aquarium celebrating our 12 year anniversary. We decided to spend the morning here as we had our 2 kids with us. It was an absolute pleasure the food was amazing the staff especially our waiter Trinity was expectionally friendly and helpful the kids area kept our two busy bees entertained . Fantastic view and vibe... One of the quieter places to visit in the Waterfront away from the maddening crowds & noise. The outside deck overlooking the marina is a peaceful place to spend an hour or two
