Medical clinic Mental health clinic Psychiatric hospital

😠 Horrible place, from admittance to a swift transfer. Took my mother in and was greeted very rudely by the security guard, who treated both of us like escaped prisoners. My mom was treated so poorly and disrespectfully by the nurses that her Psychiatrist organized her to be transferred within 2 days... People often mention staff, Akeso, nurses, patients, times, patient,

Horrible place, from admittance to a swift transfer. Took my mother in and was greeted very rudely by the security guard, who treated both of us like escaped prisoners. My mom was treated so poorly and disrespectfully by the nurses that her Psychiatrist organized her to be transferred within 2 days of arriving. This place is incredibly expensive and you do NOT get what you pay for. Do not take your loved one here!

I would give it a zero rating if it was possible. It took forever to get booked in and get to my room. Rooms don't have air conditioning, kitchen didn't have tea, eating with plastic cutlery, flies in dining area, patients ignoring mask wearing rules, stains on bed linen, bed light not working. You are not getting what you pay for. I had been to a lot of clinics and they charge the same price but they are 100 times better.

Incredible experience. All the staff members are super friendly and compassionate - especially the nurses, who were beautifully patient and caring. The food was exquisite, and the kitchen staff so accommodating, it was wonderful. The community was welcoming - do not underestimate the value of sharing this journey with the people you meet while you're there. My sessions with Ashley were insightful and enlightening. Would definitely recommend Akeso Kenilworth on your journey of returning to yourself.

The worst clinic around. Smokers have all the rights. The window latch was broken. The mattress was soft. Need I say more!

Currently in here and I've never experienced such inpatient staff whilst having am anxiety attack AMD then accuse you of screaming AMD shouting at them, being sarcastic. The facilities are okay but not being able to have am entertainment room is ridiculous we have all been tested and given clear why are we not allowed to talk to other people and socialize with each other in a fun way that could maybe actually help us, but no apparently being woken up but your psychiatrist is the best way. Awful food that only comes with a mango juice box

I checked in to Akeso a few weeks ago, The nurses were ready for me to go into isolation and then I was fed and well taken care of. The covid test was done on my second day in Isolation and I got to see my psychiatrist on this day too. Once I got my negative Covid19 results, they moved me to the GU. Once I joined the GU I had my orientation, the nurses were lovely and everyone was very informative about everything. The nurses were helpful and kind and really caring, the cooks made really great meals, I think we complained once about the food. Maintenance is always being done. The place is spotless, constantly getting cleaned, and just the friendly nature of everyone is really appreciated especially when you in such a difficult space in your life. I would recommend anyone and everyone to this specific clinic. The Cope team were always well prepared and delivered really strong lessons on a daily occurrence, their also seemed to be this constant communication between all the counsellors so they were on the same page. It's a very safe and welcoming space.

I was here for a week, initially intended longer stay but I couldn't wait to get away from here. My medication was mixed up on two occasions. Staff were very unsympathetic, impatient and rather rude. Things like your Hairdryer, Nailclippers, perfume etc are taken and you need to request it if you need to use it. I felt imprisoned and couldn't wait to get out. A few days later I went to Crescent Clinic where I had been before and felt like I was home.

I have become aware of the contents of a post on this platform by my former patient, Ms PM, whom I treated 3 years ago in 2018. Whilst I would not usually post comment on open platforms, on the basis of patient privilege, given that this appears to have been substantially waived, by Ms P M and my professionalism is being questioned in the public domain, I have no option but to respond here. The aim of my response is to try and address her grievances and provide some insight into decision-making, at the time. I will refrain from disclosing personal information regarding treatment, diagnosis, or condition. Many of the allegations referred to in the post are factually inaccurate. Any conduct on my part was carried out with her best interests in mind. I do not take lightly my ethical duties in the medical profession, and am committed, at all times, to the management of each and every patient with their well-being and progress at the forefront. At times, I am required to take certain steps to uphold my ethical duty towards the public at large as well, and this case was no different. I take grave exception to your unsupported claims that I have in any way behaved unprofessionally. In essence, I did not disclose any confidential information to any party without consent. I also did not “force” her to take any steps that were not discussed with her, or that were not in her best interests. - I did meet with the employer, on request. - This was done with consent, which was given freely and voluntarily. We openly discussed my doing so, and there was no coercion, whatsoever. - During my discussions with the employer, I did not divulge any information outside the scope of that which you consented to my disclosing, at the time. I sincerely hope that this clarifies my position. I wish her all the best. Kind regards, Dr D A Feast MB ChB FCPsych (SA) Post grad Diploma in Addictions Care

Nurses are clueless and lazy. Current facilities are beyond shocking due to corona virus, no recreation space other than the smoking area.. Management of the pandemic has been awful. The only benefit of being here is the community of patients, who are under the fist of nurses on a power trip. Have even had nurses not give me my prescribed medication because they have ZERO ability to think for themselves as their superiors are most likely, terrible people who will fire their staff if they use their brain and treat their patients with some thoughtfulness and respect. Love the patients and the education program is fine but completely dissapointed by the facilities and staff.

I came here by choice at when I was struggling with an ED a few years ago. It was TERRIBLE! I didn’t mind the restrictions but the BULLYING by the other kids destroyed me. They would sit together after sessions and make up stories to complain about in group the next day. I had overheard them once in the bathroom but I wasn’t believed as it was 1 against 6. Even one of the councillors Jeane/Jeanine was terribly harsh and rude to me. I get that she was probably protective over her patient but I was accused of saying things which I never did therefore I DENIED it. I was 16 y/o being berated by an adult all the while majority of her patients were bullying me. This is something that was constantly brought up in my therapy sessions AFTER KAYA. I needed therapy to recover from the Mean Girls who pretended to be angels.

Akeso is simply a containment space for those struggling with mental problems. It will only be as effective as your consulting therapists who oversee the care. It is very expensive, they struggle to answer the phone and the staff say things to patients they have no place in saying. I do not recoomend this place. Save your money

Overall My Experience here was good, My Biggest Issue was The Kitchen only getting right after being here for 2 weeks...! There was One Nurse Auxiliary I had an Issue with but it was handled and Her attitude changed towards Me...! I recommend this Clinic for The Programme, The Friendly Staff, The Amazing Help, Assistance and The Food (Well, at least when they got My Diet Right) ...!

Have been three times and clinic has got worse since it went under Netcare. They've def cut costs. Compared to a few years back, nursing staff are fewer, overworked and apathetic. Food is poor and they don't have hot drinks all day as previously. Non-smokers beware: Very little place outside to escape the smell from outdoor smoking area. Also gross sitting indoors next to people who reek of secondhand smoke. The so-called 'gym' is a tiny space with two old pieces of equipment crammed together. Rooms: Pretty good. Showers: Great. Programme: Good, and so are doctors/therapists. It can be tedious and annoying, but it works if you are willing to let it.

My experience at Akeso was an amazing journey of self discovery as well as facing and dealing with my past pain and trauma and my triggers. My time there was invaluable and I would definitely recommend their program to any and everyone who needs help to face, deal with and overcome your past and present troubles and fears so that you too can experience living life without carrying the weight of the whole world on you. This program was exactly what I needed and then so much more.

I have no problem with Kenilworth Akeso Climic. They are phenomenal. This is about Dr Dot Feast. She shared confidential information with my employer without my consent. She tried to convince me it was in my and my employment interests. We had a screaming match, which is unusual for me. I had to get a second opinion. She is not trustworthy and she broke doctor patient confidentiality. She could be struck off the register for her behavior but I don't know her personal circumstances so I gave her a chance. I didn't choose her. She was the psychiatrist on call when I was admitted. She also referred me to a sister for no reason at all except for money. I'm rid of all that abuse when I was vulnerable..

I have been admitted there in high care ( locked ward) for my own safety - bipolar 1, suicidal. Caring staff, small and homely vibe, lovely garden and exceptional OT teams. Hand crafts, meditation on mats, group talks. Fantastic Matrons run open and locked ward.

I stayed at Akeso Kenilworth from mid Jan for almost 3 weeks and would highly recommend it. The nursing staff were great, the catering and cleaning staff all friendly and efficient, and the programme is well structured and effective, focusing on self/relationships and feelings. Emrah particularly is a wonderful group leader/facilitator. Thanks for creating a safe place to be vulnerable and learn coping and life skills.

Shocking shocking service.I phoned 4 times to enquire on behalf of a client of mine who is in crisis….got through to a very officious person who said the only person who would know about this was on lunch!! I left my name and number.I received no phone call back.I have phoned many times again and the number keeps on ringing! This is meant to be a mental health facility!!!!! I will never refer any of my clients here in the future if this is the kind of reception I received!!!!

The most friendly staff and very professional nursing staff, kitchen staff are so sweet and caring they will even keep your lunch or diner aside if you missed it because of a session with the psychiatrist or therapist.
