Overpriced and overrated. Considering that this is in a 5 star hotel, you would expect the high tea to be phenomenal but this was not the case. They did not have a wide variety of teas nor did they have menus. Service was mediocre and they push R95 bottles of Italian mineral water on customers. Had we known the water they poured for us was going to R95 - we would have just asked for tap water. I would give this a miss to be honest. High tea at the Mount Nelson is better

We had such high expectations & unfortunately it was a let down. High tea was disappointing, the only high was the carbohydrates, the quality of the food was shocking for a 5 star hotel. I will not be recommending Vista bar to anyone

Wow. What an awesome experience. Celebrated my Lovely Daughters birthday at the Vistor Lounge at the One and Only and Only in Cape Town. The ambience was awesome, the food was excellent and the service was the best we have experienced. Our waitor was Mr Sakhele. Wow, this young man is an asset to One and Only Vista Lounge. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Highly recommend this place to both locals and tourists. CAN ONE AND ONLY PLEASE GIVE MR SAKHELE THE WAITOR AT THE VISTA LOUNGE A BONUS.. THIS GENTLEMAN WAS JUST GREAT AND HE WAS PASSIONATE ABOUT HIS WORK..

I've visited vista multiple times and have had a different experience every time. One part of the experience that stood out was the service of the staff. Absolutely impeccable (most of the time) from a warm welcome to little conversations that make you feel like you're at home, you can relax and you have nothing to worry about. I'd been to 5 star establishments and their restaurants before and some definitely have something to learn. The attention to detail from the temperature inside, the scent, the sounds and placement of furniture just sets this establishment apart from the rest. A great escape from the buzz of the V&A waterfront and the city while still being right next to it's heart beat in this luxurious oasis. I'd love to give 5 stars but I'm yet to be blown away by my experience.

Ordered their specialty which is ( yes , you read it correctly) hake and chips. The hake was perfect. White and flaky, not oily . Also had really exceptional oysters with an Asian noodle salad. Setting is great.We had to call for service 3 x times . So service could be faster.

Excellent service, excellent food, stunning views, everything is perfect. Vista Bar and Lounge @ The One & Only is la crème de la crème. Without a shadow of a doubt, the best experience I have ever had.

Just stop for an afternoon snack. In the atmosphere. The service was great. People were great and we really enjoyed the couple of hours of relaxation. I had the most wonderful papaya salad!

Great views and very friendly service with top notch ingredients. Try and get Elton as your bartender, he is a true mixologist and will make you concoctions off the menu!

We had a awful experience with you guys yesterday. I surprised my friend for her 40th birthday for a lunch with you. We made a reservation for 2pm when we arrived the table wasn't set up yet. We were then seated. After sitting for 30 minutes we asked for a waiter as we were not attended to. We booked a table for 6 and the waiter came back to the table with only 2 menus. for the whole table. another 20 minutes later we had to call a waiter to take our drinks order. Keep in mind we were almost sitting for an hour with no drinks or proper service. The manager came to us and apologized for the "bad service" we received. He then asked if he can bring water to the table and then brought 4 bottles of water and not knowing at the time the water is R95.00 a bottle. We then got Our drinks, we waited another 20-30minutes for them to take our food order. 30-45 minutes later our order arrived with one meal sort. One person was sitting without food for 30 minutes and we kept on asking where is his food. I went to a 5 star hotel to give my friend an amazing lunch experience but this left a bad taste in my mouth. When the bill came we almost paid R500.00 for water! We had five bottles of water, I am ok with paying R500.00 for water if the service I received was worth it. With the manager knowing the bad service we received, it didn't get any better

Absolutely brilliant services from Vista Bar last night. My wife and I decided to go to the One&Only and the service we got was phenomenal. Waiters were knowledgeable and polite. There was a young man by the name of Nabiel if I'm correct, he looked like the manager on duty. He immediately made us feel as home. I have seen him before at another establishment and he never seems to disappoint. We've been to Vista before but we can definitely see a huge change. His one of your greatest assets to the business. Hold on to him. He will be the next GM in the making. We'll be back soon. Regards Nick

I can absolutely recommend the high tea experience at The One & Only. Great service, beautiful melodic piano music, a fab selection of savoury & sweet treats and a tea selection that complimented the whole experience perfectly. Seriously... try the berry tea! Thank you for making my mother's birthday one to remember.

We were really looking forward to coming here for an afternoon tea but everything has gone wrong from the start. We booked well in advance for the 13:00 on 11.04 specifically for afternoon tea, prepaid R1700 and even called to ensure the booking is made. While driving in we were met with an extremely rude security personnel but we just proceeded to the venue. We were seated at the Vista Bar and Lounge, not provided menu or offered anything we were left alone. We thought that, perhaps since we all came for an afternoon tea they will just bring it out. But after 20 minutes of no attention at all we managed go find someone who said that afternoon tea actually only starts in 50 minutes… We planned our day around this appointment and now we need to wait for an hour despite making a booking. In fact it sounded as it was all our fault for coming early, not clearly their mistake. Now let’s move to the food part. My favorite part of an afternoon tea is scones. Warm, beautiful scones. On the photo you can see what some of them looked like (completely not what is advertised on the website!), in addition they were completely cold as they were brought out on the tray with everything else. The rest of the food was alright, but nothing memorable to justify the pricing of this place. Teas were average at best and they came in tea bags, we tried 5 teas and 3 of them were ridiculously bitter. One person had dietary requirements, which we noted in advance and he was served with nuts and dried fruits instead of real desserts, which again is not really suitable for the R500+pp price tag. Overall, it’s a beautiful venue, but there is a great amount of afternoon tea places around the city with significantly better offering. We didn’t leave hungry but we certainly didn’t leave satisfied.

Amazing High Tea

Sadly our morning tea was such a let down and disappointment! We did arrive with high expectations of course. We were after all having tea at Cape Town's One and Only! The setting is elegant, the view magnificent. The tea - a shame really. We were served - what seemed like the afternoon before's tea leftovers - unappealing, clearly dried out savouries. Utterly unpalatable. Scones were brought to the table without jam and cream. The sweet treats were equally unappetizing and bland. Not once did our waitress 'check back' to find out if we were enjoying the tea, nor did she enquire about removing plates with hardly-touched food on it. Now to me that would be a tell-tell sign that something was amiss, surely? In the end, our planned 'special' morning was such an anticlimax. Not at all what you would expect from the One and Only brand.

Peaceful ambiance. Light meal was very satisfying and honestly the best chocolate milkshake I've had all year.

We stopped by for a light dinner. Aubrey, our waiter was excellent. The food; great presentation and delicious. Scrumptious vegetarian options for my wife and stunning views to enjoy. Will definitely recommend.

The bartender Prince is a king of cocktails!
