If you’re looking for an educational and historical overview of Soweto, then the Soweto Walking Tour is a great option. It starts off with a brief history of the township, followed by stops at at attractions including the Hector Pieterson memorial and Nelson Mandela’s house. It also includes an optional extra beer tasting at the Soweto Brewery, and ends with a traditional lunch at Orlando Towers. Our guide Rambo kept us entertained while educating us on the the township. Highly recommended!

It was a great tour through the vibrant neighborhood of Maboneng. Tebogo is a super nice tour guide, very kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. We‘ve learned a lot and had a fantastic time.

Great art / mural walk tour around Woodstock and Salt River, highly recommend if you like large / public art. It offers another lens to experience a small slice of these Cape Town neighbourhoods.

We did the Soweto tour by bike with Dumi. He is an amazing guide with huge knowledge about the history of South Africa and the Soweto itself. It was an interesting afternoon, he showed us all around and doing it by bike was fun. We really recommend the experience particularly with him. Thank you Dumi!

Last minute booking, as my flight had just landed in Johannesburg and I got in touch through Airbnb to join the tour starting in 2 hours. They were able to accommodate me, and when I arrived the tour guide was aware of his unexpected late addons. The tour itself was really nice, a genuine way to get to know Soweto township, learn about the history of the area and even try some local street food (so yummy!) Would recommend to anyone who wants to experience that. I also felt safe through out the tour.

I had a great time biking around the colorful neighborhood of Woodstock with Terrence. I loved discovering the different murals and get to understand the meaning behind each, and I learnt a lot about the history and culture of the area. Highly recommend!

Did both the cycling tour through Soweto and the walking one in Maboneng. Very friendly and knowledgeable tour guides, Dumi was an absolute star. Nice kota lunch. Overall very interesting and fun day!

Can highly recommend doing the bike tour as it allows you to see off the beaten track areas in Soweto and experience the local vibe and how it was shaped by the important historical events happening here. The guide Lebo was well-versed on the history and culture of Soweto and gave a very personalalized tour around the area.

I went on two tours with One Day Africa and both of them taught me a lot! Sipho is really dedicated and his team gives you a professional and insightful tour, in a friendly atmosphere. I can only highly recommend! Special preference for the Soweto tour with Lebo, where I feel I learned not only about the place and its history, but also and above all about humanity and the importance of being open and curious about each other. Just go!!!

Brilliant young people who are trying to make a better future for them and their country. It was an honour meeting them and listening to their personal experience as locals living in SA, and of course learning about the history of the city. I recommend it very much :)

Had a great experience with the tour guide. Thoroughly explained everything in detail about how all the places we toured have a significant amount of importance in Johannesburg and gave me a proper authentic experience of Johannesburg.
