What’s not to like. Great service and extensive menu covering the healthy to the indulgent. This one in Bakoven and the one at the aquarium were super. The latter was great for kids as there is a play area.

Great brunch/coffee spot. Coffee, juices and food are really nice. Location wise, it’s on a busy/noisy road. All in all a nice spot in Camps Bay.

We were sitting in the hot sun so I tried to put up the umbrella. Passive aggressive manager comes up behind me and says, “There’s a reason the umbrella is not up.” Secondly, a Mini Cooper parked next to where we were sitting was smashed by a truck because the road is so narrow and busy. Will not be returning.

Very good breakfast and amazing staff. Very friendly and honest. Forgot my EarPods without knowing and they gave them back to me 1 week later :)

Around 17:20 Sunday 19 February 2023, I got to Bootleggers,it was full outside no space to put my bike without disturbing other customers. Not a soul was inside so I thought, let me take it inside by the window seats which has the bar stools. As I'm walking in with the bike the manager said, "excuse me what do you think you doing, with your bike inside?" Speaking loud from the other side of the room. I asked, "why the attitude?"Because his tone wasn't respectful at all. He then said it's because you feel entitled to bring your bike inside. So I called back while riding up Suikerbossie to find out his name so one of the other waiters said his name is Lucienne. So I asked his surname and she didn't know so she gave the phone to him. So I said it's the guy to whom you were rude, then he was even more condescending. The only reason I didn't make a scene was due to the fact that, if I had to act classless I would have played into the stereotypical coloured person. I can't believe they have people like this working in a customer service environment. But that specific shop is known for low-key racism within the cycling community, that's the reason for few local people of colour visiting there but hey, some people like it that way.

I ordered an orange juice and got more pulp than juice. Pretty sure I ordered a juice and not a fruit salad for takeaway. Very disappointing. See photos.

Been there a couple of time during my stay in Camps Bay. I think Bootlegger in general has super great dishes and would be my spot to go to for breakfast and lunch. Nice place to work from as well! Food is great. However, I think the staff and service is way below what we’ve seen in other Bootleggers we went to in South Africa (e.g. t the one in Stellenbosch was way more pleasant than the one in Camps Bay, CT). Staff seem a bit bored and not enjoy working (there) at all. Some people working there are absolutely friendly though, however most of the ones that we’ve experienced were just so so and smiling was not really in their vocabulary and communication was a bit brisk (perhaps bc it’s so busy during weekends?). That’s where the 3 stars come from. Perhaps also a bit chaotic as it’s super crowded (especially on weekends) and it feels a bit cramped (compared to other bootleggers). Cycling place to be in Camps Bay it seems! Lots of cyclists have a stop over before or after Chapman’s Peak. :) Nice bike and coffee culture! In general I would not recommend taking “oatmilk” coffees is you’re used to European style oatmilk. It’s makes the coffee very sweet. So rather go for normal milk coffees.

Best breakfast place in camps bay hands down. The bootbun is 10/10 and so is the coffee!

Forgive my camera does not do justice to the amazing mouth watering food. A fantastic place to visit, amazing atmosphere very clean and refreshing. The service one of the best l have ever received in very long time. Mercy was my waiter, absolutely amazing kindhearted and sweet. At the bar Lindokuhle made the best of drinks timely and very friendly to clients and the manager Jay, was an absolute gentleman. A leader with a lot of heart. Keep up the amazing service all round team including behind the scenes in the kitchen. Highly recommend that you visit the Bootlegger Camps bay.

Stopped by for a quick coffee on our way out of camps bay. The espresso was decent and the service polite. The roast was a bit dark for my liking but not extremely so. The pastry was hard and stale so definitely can’t recommend that. The vibe was very pleasant with what seemed like a lot of tourists and people that like to work from coffee shops.

I went here for breakfast and after sitting at the (dirty) table for 10 mins with no service - no menu or drinks order. I left. I was greeted at the door when I said I would be getting food. I tried to get the waitresses attention but they all ignored me. It was busy but not crazily so and there were more than enough waitresses and 2 weren’t even busy with anything. Weird place

Lovely coffee. Lovely place to stop for a cup of coffee and there are wheat-free crunchies AND gluten free pecan nut & date cookies. Enjoyed so much. .

Food is always tasty, but coffee usually tastes a bit burnt. Every bootlegger I’ve visited in Cape Town says it takes 30 minutes to make pancakes. I love the flapjacks, but there is no reason at all that a pancake should take 30 minutes. Every time they explain that to me, they lose a sale and don’t seem to care. They need to figure out how to offer everything on their menu in a timely manner! To end on a positive note, the staff is always super friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is always nice.

We visited Bootlegger Bakoven on saturday morning for breakfast as a recommendation from our guesthouse and wow...Coffee made by Tanaka and food was great, my waiter Jonathan had a welcoming smile and the manager Laundry? Stopped at Bootleggers Bakoven for breakfast, promptly greeted and assisted by Siya, food came quickly, all was good whilst being seen to and served as if in a Michelin Star restaurant whilst still being real. Very well done to the Branch and all due to our experience with Siya and the Kitchen teams promptness! Thank you

In my opinion the Bootlegger in bakoven's breakfasts are slightly better prepared, compared to others in other suburbs that I have experienced recently... The chef here is making the food tasty and not dry.
