Kick back and relax in this unique heritage building while your personable waiter woos you with perfectly prepared seafood. The marlin I had was a definite highlight. Although, having a taste of the oysters, prawns, hake, and muscles at the table, I believe everyone felt the same about their own individual meals. We ventured into the desert menu, and while they each certainly looked the part, they didn't impress as much as the mains. The kids had a blast in the play area, and even made a new friend. This is a great restaurant to bring the kids, but bookings are essential as it is quite popular.

Restaurant in an amazing setting, overlooking the Melkbosstrand beach. Service was a little slow at times, but totally ok, as you don’t want to be in a hurry. Food is good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Damhuis in Melkbosstrand has the perfect location - a stone's throw away from the beach and close to shops and other activities. The views are breathtaking, too making the ambience relaxed and enjoyable. The food is delicious and fresh with a wide variety to choose from. They really do comfort food well, plus their portion sizes are good value for money. The service was friendly and responsive from the time we arrived to the time we left. Well worth the drive from Cape Town.

The waitress made plenty of suggestions and where very helpfull and friendly. Fast food and fast service. Would recomend this place any day. Would recomend making a booking ahead of time as the restaurant is always fully booked.

Amazing food combined with excellent service and a superb view. Prices are good as the portions are massive. Huge menu with a lot to choose from. We had the following: Calamari and chips: heads and tubes fried with chips Damhuis burger: waggu beef Sticky marinated ribs with chips Seafood casserole with a side of fresh bread. Desert was Don Pedro with Kalua and Jameson whiskey. We come here every December and the food is amazing every single time. Lets start with the positive: service was good, Managenment :good restaurant environment good. Eaten many times here and the food was always good and enjoyable. This time the food was bland, dry and tasteless. The oysters were cold but not properly prepared . If you serve oysters free them totally from the shell and leave this attached. Meat was dry without flavor with the egg tasting like airline food. The Greek platter, boring, boring. If you want to add salad as garnishing then make sure its fresh and not a wilted green set of leaves! It gives an impression of the chef. Maybe the rainy evening washed the inspiration from the chef, but considering the price you pay it tasted like a ready made meal from a fast food chain. Was disappointed . Pity as this place used to be good. Will give it a miss in future.

Beautifully located by the beach with perfect views to watch the waves assault the rocks. This old traditional house offers a fantastic menu with a myriad of food choices throughout the day. I had a wonderful breakfast and coffee. Wonderfully decorated and child friendly. Service was friendly and efficient. I haven't had a evening meal here, but after a quick look at the menu I'll be booking a table soon for that.

What a Gem!! Situated on the beach road overlooking the Ocean. Seating outside allows one to enjoy the Seabreeze, the fresh Breeze from the Ocean, the holiday makers and other Diners. The sauce served with the Mussels, delectable, smooth taste simply delicious. The fish cakes oh my word well spiced, very tasty. Oxtail soft, falling from bones, tasty well spiced. Stuffed rolled Pork belly baked to perfection, tasty and well spiced. Rustic, ambience real holiday feel, yet relaxing, and good vibe!!

We were seated inside close to the fireplace. Just the thing for a cold day. We had Oxtail and Ribs, both very good. 2 glasses of wine, coffee's and a slice of chocolate cake for dessert. Yummy. Unfortunately, our waiter was an order taker only. Barley a smile, and no suggestions. She dropped the food off and then disappeared. Had to ask another waiter to assist with more drinks. It was not that busy at the time.

A hidden gem within Melkies. Their pork belly tops the list. I was never a pork belly fan until I had theirs. Literally came back for a second dinner the next night. The waiters and manager are so friendly and communicate well. Be sure to make a drive down to Damhuis when you’re in the Western Province.

Went there for breakfast on 27 January 2024. They open at 9am but people were already entering the establishment before 9am. This is a dog friendly establishment and the dogs were all on leashes. I saw the waiters providing water bowls for the puppers which was very cute. The breakfast was amazing and filling. Beautiful view of the beach. The service was excellent, not a long wait for the food. 10/10 for the food. A definite recommendation if you're in the area.

We arrived between the breakfast and lunch time and thus had a limited menu to choose from. But still the Damhuis delivered. Damhuis is a legend in this little sea side village and for good reason. With staff working hard to set up for lunch trade service was a bit slow and thus only four stars, but this restaurant will always be a must visit. Please remember to book. Having a wrap and a toasted sandwich (due to the limlited menu) sound boring, but it tasted lovely and portions was good. The place is beautiful and creative. When we go to Cape Town or the West Coast we always get a table here. The food and service has always been great with a play area for the kids. Tried some fish this time around and it has ruined fish for me as I will struggle finding such perfectly cooked fish again. Would keep going there to try every dish.

This is a must visit historical site and restaurant, when you visit Cape Town. Firstly, the restaurant is a historical building with lots of history captured inside the restaurant as well in their own written book. When you visit the restaurant for the first time, make sure to mention it because then they will give you their own written book, to read about the history behind the restaurant building. The book also contains the most delicious recipes. Our waitress also took it upon herself to explain the history to us when we walked through the building, which was awesome. Thank you! Awesome food, big portions, excellent service and a beautiful view. This is really a great restaurant and has a nice area for kids to play and a nice area if you don't have kids. I would advise you to book as they are extremely busy. I did the reservation online and it was very easy to do. I did call to confirm my booking and they had already received and made it. Lourens our waiter did a great job and his recommendations were excellent. I would definitely go again.

My favourite seafood restaurant. I love the setting, the food is amazing and it is nice that they don't only serve seafood, but great ribs and pork belly as well. The desserts are out of this world! The prices are reasonable.

Probably one of the best dining experiences I've had in the Western Cape! Reasonably priced for exceptionally generous portions, and the calamari is to die for! Service was excellent and the vibe really nice. Also a cool kids play area.

This little restaurant is situated in Melkbos on the seafront. It has some history and character, but you would need to go there to find out for your self. We sat in a cozy part with a nive fire heater going. It was a real CapeTwon winters evening. Staff were very friendly. Food was good. We had dorado, tuna and a nice Greek calamari platter. Highly recomended.

Loved my experience yesterday. The stuffed calamari starter was amazing definitely a must try if you love calamari and olives. You are really getting value for your money and our waitress Elmarie was lovely.

So so excellent! I give this place a 10/10👌 every dish was excellent, great service, friendly staff & awesome location. kinda pricey but worth it as your money is on/in the flavours on your plate. For the mussel start I'd like to proposal that more bread is served with the dish 3 thin slices isn't enough for the amount of sauce served. I finished my sauce as a soup even the waitress was shocked at my completely eaten dish 🤙 Will come back 100% and highly recommended to all. Do it!! Came back for a second time and was again excellent and iv added new photos from this visit

It's a must visit restaurant if you're in the area, worth the drive if you are not. Angie is both a lovely hostess and sharp attendant, support her. The heaters in the outdoor seating is very cozy. I can have a ciggy without freezing my buns off. Although there was a variety of seafood not in stock, my meal did not disappoint at all!

This was such a lovely restaurant to visit on the beachside in Melkbosstrand! The interior is super cute and quaint, and the food is very reasonably priced as well as suuuuper tasty. The staff were also incredibly friendly and pleasant. Would most certainly definitely revisit when around in the area again!
