👍👍 Certainly a very intriguing yet romantic place. The food was exotic and delicious. The Ethiopian pot coffee was divine. I would love to return to taste the rest of the menu. Ethiopian cuisine is an absolute my try. People often mention Ethiopian, experience, delicious, good,

We had a lovely 'first' for Ethiopian food at Timbuktu. Surprised at the tangy taste of the injera but it mixed well with the rest of the meal. Initial service was a bit slow and the prices can be quite expensive for the portions of protein that you get. I would say this is a must try for anyone keen to experience new cuisines.

Such a cute and cozy place. Timbuktu Cafe has wonderful food, drinks, and desserts. Their all spice tea was out of this world! Perfect ambiance and definitely recommend visiting.

Really great place to have affordable, yet really generous portions of delicious Ethiopian food. The Key Wot is something that I find myself craving throughout the week and honestly, it has to be the one restaurant I find myself returning to the most out of all the others. You won't be disappointed.

Worth the experience, would definitely do it again. A cultural experience best shared with friends. Try a meat tibs platter and veg sampler to share.

I love this place, with his atypical inside and always with good music. The food is absolutely fantastic and their orange juice so yummy! The staff is really nice and the price very very correct. Always a pleasure to come!

Wow wow wow. We love this place. A real taste of ethiopia. Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Advice...change the music to more traditional ethiopian music to make the experience even more authentic.

The food here is overpriced for the quantity received (September 2023) and the quality of the dishes is mediocre-to-poor when compared to, say, Little Ethiopia in the CBD. R207 for a tablespoonful each of two unimpressive lamb stews served on flaccid lettuce and pavement-special tomatoes doesn't tittilate the tastebuds. Lamb tibs was like a greasy regurgitation spat out of a back-alley Chinatown dive, and the injera is a bit too heavy on the latex but maybe I'm vanilla. The service is poor, not aided by the fact that the gormless staff barely speak English. Ultrakitsch decor attempts to be camp but only succeeds in being shabby -- still, it feels homely, like mother's ample bosom. People seem to love it.

We saw they were open online and went there to chill with friends while enjoying some Ethiopian food, but they told us they have no water so they are only serving takeaway! what are you making the food with? No thankyou. n FYI didn come all this way for a takeaway. they didn't even try to show some effort. Bad bad service 😡😡😡 Next time , ofcourse not with me😏, respect your customers and make an effort!

Still have vivid dreams about how good this place was half a decade later. Visited it almost weekly, never found another Ethiopian restaurant this good again. Super friendly staff even shared some of the spices required for shiro wot.

Fantastic. Tiny eclectic cafe with authentic food. Try the veggie sampler and their all-spice tea.

The Timbuktu vibe is great.. Not only is it a quiet place with a great rustic feel to it, the hosts are amazing and very welcoming and make you feel at home. The food is an amazing East African cuisine that boasts of an large portions with plenty of healthy options. DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY!

The food is so delicious. Every time I take someone new they are literally stunned by how good the flavour is. Conversation stops so we can appreciate the food.

It was a wonderful first time experience there. The place is very different, the cafe has different sections with different themes. Their menu is Ethiopian food and that was delicious, struggled with the bread though(the injera) and it comes with every dish, because it was sour…however I do realise that that’s how Ethiopian food or bread is made(apparently takes about 4-5days as it must ferment). The place has a Cousy feel to it. Only challenge was that because we were two, reservations were made but their comfy dinning table and chairs were reserved for larger groups which was a bit of a bummer but wonderful first time experience there. Even then music is was different and soulful.

Lovely decor, intimate setting, wonderful food. Outdoor tables are shaded by vines, inside tables are each unique and cosy. I've eaten here twice, both times were excellent.

A lovely place with very friendly people that serves delicious Ethiopian food. The dishes are really authentic and very tasty. Timbuktu Cafe is also a good choice for vegans and vegetarians. They'll find a good variety here. Thanks for this nice evening, we'll definitely come back one day!
