One of the most beautiful areas you will ever experience! Camping and hiking out here was absolutely incredible. There are many campgrounds and dispersed camping. I visited the Lake Marie area; it was an incredible hike. My dog and I had a great time exploring out here! The scenic views were breath taking. I highly recommend visiting the area.

One of my favorite national forests I've experienced so far. I've seen a decent amount of the west at this point, and I would easily say this is one of the most peaceful and serene forest. I'm surprised it's not more popular; 60-70 degree days in July with snowy peaks is an absolute dreamscape to me.

SO pretty and easily accessible! Really neat to get so many lake views with so little effort 🤣 Lots of wildlife and so many fewer people than RMNP. Clean bathrooms and easy to navigate the roads and trails. Can’t wait to return!

This is the most tranquil breathtaking lake I have seen in a long time. The reflection of the lake is just like a mirror. It has well traveled trails thats an easy walk, bring a jacket the air is a little chilly.

What a absolutely beautiful area! Everything was so green when we visited in early August. The flowers were spectacular. We spent a full week exploring all over. We hiked, camped, paddle boarded and saw so much incredible wildlife, lots and lots of Moose!!

I love these mountains and I cannot lie. The sunsets and the sunrises are gorgeous! Photography is fun here in different light. Dispersed camping here leaves a wonderful taste in my mouth. So far, very clean areas so let's keep it that way!

Gorgeous place and fairly decent roads to free dispersed campsites. Stop at the Laramie ranger station and get a map to the many roads that have free dispersed camping. This is a wonderful place to explore and camp free for 14 days ! No 4x4 required to get to some wonderful campsites ! Highly recommended!

Beautiful forest, crystal clear water, and epic sunsets and sunrises! Camped near Elk river with some family and friends for labor day weekend. It was quiet and peaceful even though it was a popular weekend we almost had the place to our self's.

Absolutley beautiful place to hike and camp. We drove through some trails to a campsite and stayed 2 nights and it was fantastic. Lots of tree cover to protect from sun and wind. And tons of area to cover! Saw some beautiful open fields and a great view of sunrise for the mountains. It was fantastic to get into the fresh air. Some of the trails on the way up were a bit tough to get through, but nothing a truck, a hatchet, and 8 guys couldn’t handle. It was also a little damp as we went around the time of year where the snow is melting away. Overall, 10/10 experience!

Great place to boondock for the night! I wish we could have explored it more. We slept by the cows and it was delightful. (Watch out for cow patties 😜). Super quiet night and beautiful place. It was rainy and foggy, but we still had a great time.

Plenty of dispersed campsites to choose from, but this is a popular destination and most of them were filled, even on a weekday in the autumn. I had a cold and quiet night, but I'd prefer a place with a little less traffic. Some of the higher elevation roads are quite narrow and rough...4WD is recommended. (I was camping in the area south of Arlington, WY.)

We stumbled on the Snowy Range and Medicine Bow by accident and probably would have pushed on thru. So Grateful we Didn't!! Stunning Views, Quiet Trails and Amazing Wildlife. If in or around Laramie...Medicine Bow is a MUST See...

So peaceful, so nice. Definitely one of the most relaxing places I've ever camped in. The only downside for me were all the bugs, there were waaay too many, and I have a slight phobia, but I still give it 10/10.

We love dispersed camping in the Vedauwou Campground. There are 2 camping loops with peimitve sites. Each spot has a picnic table and fire ring. Most pull offs are paralell to the road, with a few being back/pull in paved pads. Our dogs love hiking among and climbing the rocks. One of our favorite stops on our cross country travels.

So incredibly gorgeous. We took advantage of the dispersed camping. The dogs and cat all loved exploring our site and we had a very relaxing stay even though it rainwd the entire time. Such diverse plants and trees, everything was in bloom and beautiful.

Loved our recent backpacking trip through here. Prepare for cold and windy weather in the evenings. 10/10 would recommend!

My family and I love to take our 5th wheel campers and side by sides to the mountains and do trail riding. We take a our dogs and have a relaxing vacation. Some days we will stay at camp or we will run into saratoga for the best ice cream at lollypops.🍦
