Our first time ordering from Aban Kitchen since moving to Carbondale and we were very satisfied! Looking forward to ordering again.

Great food! The chicken is the best I’ve had in this area!! Awesome place to double date or go with a group of friends! They have family style dining.

There is no greater joy then sitting down to a meal in a place you don't know, after climbing for several hours, and then being taken care of like we were at Aban Kitchen. The food was immaculate. I had Lamb my climbing partner the falafelwrap. Succulent and fall of the bone the Lamb was perfectly cooked and the rice brimming with spices to satiate my hunger. The wrap was fresh and lovely. Falafel was well seasoned and fried so it was crisp yet had a great bite. If you are staying in Carbondale to climb. This is your spot! Great portion sizes, fresh, and perfect for post climbs but won't weigh you down in the morning. Also shout out to our host who was so kind and had immaculate timing when it came to fill waters or ask if we needed anything. So kind.

I ordered Grubhub from Aban as I was looking for something different here in Carbondale. Well, let me share that this food did not disappoint! I got a chicken stew and It was savory and delicious! The bread they give you appears to be freshly out of the oven. The chicken meat fell off the bone and the portions were quite large. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely order from Aban kitchen again!

The food is delicious and so rich in flavors. This place made me fall in love with Yemeni food. The service was very courteous also. Highly recommend.

Came into to an empty restaurant which is a plus for me. I intended to order a 25 dollar meal but had to pay 32 instead. I was a bit disappointed with the price until I started eating my shawarma and chicken kabob. It sent me to the main reason I love different kinds of food. I def recommend this place. A meal you can eat twice after purchasing once is a Win in my book.

This is a very small restaurant and if you have a party of 4 are More it's best to make reservations at this place bcall they don't have much seating at this place but they food is great 👍👍👍 it's ALOT 🥺 price but it's worth it

First time at this restaurant, I graduated few years ago from SIU and I was visiting Carbondale to meet my friends. So I trie this new place (new to me :)) and I love it. The food was super delicious, I ordered Haneez Lamb, think about know makes me wanna go back. You must drink their special aromatic back tea.

The food here is always delicious. Today I ordered the chicken mogulgul with hummus and clay oven bread, as well as the vimto to drink and everything was amazing. Kind staff as well. Definitely would recommend.

Wow! Delicious, cooked to order. Open during the week. Ordered chicken shawarma sandwich and kabobs. Both excellent. Most items can even be made gluten free. Clean too.

If you haven’t been to Aban’s Kitchen yet, you’re doing yourself a disservice. This place has a wonderful, cozy environment with the friendliest staff in the area. The lamb is amazing and prepared in a few different ways. I’ve tried every single menu item and I’m happy and satisfied with all of my entrees. This place is truly something special and I hope it’s legacy continues for a long time.

As a family friend, I've had the privilege of frequenting Aban Kitchen, and it's become my go-to for culinary needs. The warm atmosphere, combined with their fantastic kitchen appliances, makes every visit a delightful experience. Highly recommend this gem for both personal and professional kitchens!

If you haven’t eaten here, you’re missing out on one of the best restaurants in southern illinois. The food is delicious. There are vegetarian options for those who prefer it. I had the lamb, my son had the falafel. We left with that feeling you only get when you are full and you know the food you ate was made with care and high quality ingredients. I hope enough people appreciate how lucky we are to have a place like this is southern illinois, because I would be devastated if Aban’s were to close. Give it a try, seriously. If there were anything to complain about, it would be it’s so hard to have to smell the deliciousness coming out of the kitchen while you’re waiting for your own food to arrive. So, not a real complaint at all. 100% will go back, and I will likely go back a lot.

I’d never been to this restaurant and really didn’t know what to expect. I asked the server to kind of explain and he was very kind and explained the menu well. The menu is simple in a good way. No hot food is good or bad depending on your preference and mostly lamb and chicken with a few beef options served with rice or bread and humus. The lamb with rice was very good and I plan to go back to try multiple dishes. If you’re a little skittish when it comes to “ethnic” food, this food will not scare you a bit. I would say try it and you’ll be pleased with how friendly the staff is and pleasantly surprised how the food is different but not exotic. Also, I didn’t walk away feeling bloated more satisfied. Hopefully this helps

This is my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in our area. It’s not your typical Gyro place at all. It’s a real experience and the food is excellent. I judge a good Middle Eastern restaurant by the quality of basmati rice that they buy, this rice is some of the best I have ever eaten. Light, fluffy, very long grained yet form kernels, and spiced with something delicate that I cannot name, but is addictive. The last time I was there, I splurged and ordered the lamb chops, and I was not disappointed. It was more food than I could eat, and so I had to take some home to eat the next day. Poor poor me. No really, these folks are really really nice people and the atmosphere is, peaceful and quiet, not like your usualAmerican restaurants with loud music blaring, and several TVs. This is the kind of place that you would want to take your favorite person on date night, or take business colleagues to discuss important stuff. I hope people can support this business as much as possible so that they will be successful. The pandemic was hard on them and I’m glad they survived it.
