1/5 Cara I. 1 year ago on Google
My
sister-in-law
and
her
now
husband
signed
contracts
and
paid
initial
deposits
to
hold
their
rehearsal
dinner,
cocktail
hour,
and
wedding
reception
on-site
about
a
year
ago.
Two
weeks
before
their
wedding,
the
manager,
whom
they
had
been
in
contact
with
for
all
things
prior,
was
not
returning
any
communications.
The
bride
called
the
hotel
to
inquire
about
the
lack
of
communication
and
was
informed
that
the
manager
was
no
longer
employed
at
Hotel
Anthracite.
This
conversation
also
revealed
that
the
Hotel
Anthracite
did
not
have
a
reservation
for
the
rehearsal
dinner,
a
suite
reserved
for
the
couple
(as
per
their
contract),
and
that
the
staff
had
minimal-to-no
information
about
the
wedding
that
had
been
planned
over
the
last
year.
These
circumstances
were
blamed
on
a
change
in
management.
After
a
few
days
of
anxious
waiting,
a
manager
spoke
with
the
couple,
confirmed
the
rehearsal
dinner
was
booked,
and
reviewed
the
final
head
count.
It
took
multiple
family
members
visiting
the
hotel
in-person
to
ensure
that
the
bride
and
groom
had
a
suite
reserved
for
their
wedding
night.
When
family
began
to
arrive
at
the
hotel,
they
were
informed
that
the
rehearsal,
with
an
open
bar,
was
being
switched
from
the
Private
Dining
room
in
the
restaurant-as
promised
and
reserved-
to
the
Canary
Cafe.
This
was
remedied
again,
after
many
anxious
hours
of
waiting.
Guests
were
blamed
for
reservations
being
incorrectly
made.
Guests
were
told
incorrect
rates
for
rooms.
Promises
were
made
by
multiple
members
of
the
management
team
to
remedy
the
disaster
that
had
been
the
last
three
weeks
and
nothing
was
followed
through
upon.
One
manager
even
suggested
that
his
ability
to
reserve
the
complementary
suite
for
the
bride
and
groom-as
agreed
upon
in
their
contact-
was
a
solution.
We
requested
to
be
contacted
on
the
day
of
the
wedding
to
determine
how
the
situation
might
be
rectified.
I
left
my
phone
number
and
name
with
the
front
desk
twice
prior
to
leaving
for
the
wedding
ceremony.
Instead,
my
mother-in-law
received
a
phone
call
while
the
wedding
mass
was
taking
place
across
the
street
asking
for
the
final
payment
which
had
been
made
30
days
prior.
The
day
after
the
wedding,
the
bride
and
groom’s
top
layer
of
their
cake,
along
with
their
cake
topper,
was
lost
only
to
be
miraculously
found
at
the
last
minute
before
the
bride
and
groom
needed
to
leave
the
hotel.
I
am
disappointed
in
the
lack
of
communication
amongst
members
of
management,
from
management
to
the
staff,
and
from
management
to
their
guests.
Multiple
guests,
and
most
noticeably
the
BRIDE,
were
visibly
upset
(and
for
good
reason)
in
their
presence
with
minimal
consolation
or
care.
I
expected
more
from
this
establishment.
I
caution
any
couple
thinking
about
celebrating
their
wedding
at
Hotel
Anthracite.
I
do
want
to
thank
the
bartenders,
Chef,
and
restaurant
staff
for
their
hard
work.
They
were
fantastic
and
quite
honestly,
the
only
positive
aspect
of
this
entire
experience.
