Sexist barman, horrible decor, indoor astroturf??? Ruined the oldest pub in Cardiff with tacky renovations. This building shouldve been protected from whatever has happened to it now.

Strange colour scheme and paint job that sucks all the traditional pub atmosphere and replaces it with a half arsed attempt at a 'sports bar', awkward football theming is being kind. Advertisements also played through the speakers completing the match day experience. AstroTurf compliments the beautiful traditional glass windows. You'd think there would be some precautions in place to stop things like this happening to historical buildings.

Very very run down. Mold on walls and most of the decent ales were all off and the bar lady didn't know a thing about what she was serving begind the bar when i visted on the evening Sat 7th Jan 2023. Needs a refurbishment as very very poor now - look at the mold on the walls - downstairs, left just before the gents. Not acceptable!

Nice enough local 'pub' that could do with a little bit of spot & polish as a little bit worn. Has some good pictures on the wall of historic Cardiff to show what it was like before the enormous stadium was built, now 20years ago.

No beer available, apparently casks need to be used quickly and there's not the demand, choice of lager cider or Guinness. Ok if you're not a real ale drinker

Decent pub and prices are hard to beat, just don't have much expectations from reading it's the oldest in town, not much of that's left unfortunately.

Clean and looks recently refurbished? Bass draught very good, staff pleasant & welcoming. Haven't been here for a while but there is still a bit of an unpleasant aroma?

The heavy rap background music not my cup of tea. Great location, just opposite the castle.

Called into the Rummer Tavern for a light meal and a drink. I had the Cajun chicken dirty fries with a pint of strongbow fruit. Delicious cooked meal to order. Nicely served in a basket and liner. The service was welcoming, The Tavern was well decorated in Cardiff City FC colours. Good selection of meals and draft and bottled drinks. Perfect for meeting with friends, socializing, and predrinks before sporting and events in the heart of the city centre.

I used to come to the Rummer every week on my lunch break for their amazing hunters chicken. After the new management, it really lost its "old pub" vibe and they stopped food so I stopped going. I popped in today as they've got another new management team. They've given it life again. Repainted, opened the kitchen and just made it nicer. I was on break and would of loved to stay longer, so I'll be back in after work next time. The food could be to stay or takeaway which is really handy. It's tasted great too. Thank you for giving the pub some needed love. I'll be back again 🥰.

Had a much needed smarten up apart from the men's room. Beer prices are no longer cheap infact a bit expensive £5 for a Doombar.

Had a great time. Very friendly and everyone was very welcoming. Came on a karaoke night and was great seeing everyone taking part. Came from Lincolnshire and fully enjoyed the experience of being part of the town. Thank you.

Late night drink that made our night! The staff were very friendly, arrived 30 minutes before closing but they still couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome! Thanks to Aaron and all the team! Emma and Jason xx

The place itself is a bit run down and scummy aesthetically but it's very well kept and cleaned, the staff are quite frankly phenomenal. Very friendly and accommodating. This would of been a 3 star besides the redemption of a VERY good pint of Guinness, properly poured by multiple bartenders and the right temperature

Great boozer, beers cheap, don't go to the toilets hold it in and wait till you get to another pub, the toilets are disgusting ,that's the only thing that let's this pub down .

Hideous. Don’t bother. Toilets in a hell of a state, football fans, rough as hell. Used to be a great pub.

Cardiff's oldest pub. Men's loos kinda attest to the age of it! Great atmosphere. Could do with a bit of tlc on the cleaning front to be fair! .
