The food here is very nice.. I don't often go for the chippy option but after a long shift about a week ago, I asked my Daughter to pop in and pick up some food for me. Neither of us realised we couldn't pay by card and my Daughter didn't have cash on her. What impressed me is that without even knowing her, the staff were kind enough to let her leave with the food and bring the cash the following day (which I did). This was a simple, kind gesture which showed trust and is quite rare. Sometimes its the little things that mean the most...

Probably the best chips, Masala sauce , sausage in batter I've had in a long time, surprisingly only paid £4 , excellent value for money

Ordered a large portion chips (£2.90), small sausage in batter (£1) and potato fritter (0.80p). Decent amount of chips which were nice. As it was a spur of a moment decision, and I attended at 2100, the sausage and fritter was a bit rubbery, possibly as they'd been under the lights for a while and started to dry out. All in though, it filled my craving for chippy chips, which was nice.

Lovely staff always give a warm welcome, good quality food, ingredients, and they care about their customers and community. They treat everyone with respect no matter who you are. The staff work really hard to keep their customers happy and satisfied. They provide a very professional service. The staff are polite, kind natured, they give generous portions of food. Chips are cooked to perfection, nice, soft and fluffy inside. They are one of the best in my opinion.

Went to the Maelfa fish bar today I had 2 large cod & a small chips at my request they kindly wrapped them separately I can honestly say the best fish & chips I have had in years

Very busy at times, but the food and staff are amazing. Busy is a good thing unless your in the que waiting. Pretty fast though evan when busy.

The chips are so lovely here. Only tried for the first time a week ago and returned again . Will try the kebabs next, hoping they will be just as good .

Food is reasonably priced and freshly cooked which can mean there is usually a queue which can take a significant time to go down. Even ordering ahead you have to queue up, but the food is general worth it. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu has a range of options.

Best fish it's like half a shark and batter is so crispy Chicken kebabs are lovely too mum and myself share a medium which is plenty

As a carer, a client requested that I bring home a bag of fish and chips. I was most impressed when the server asked me if I had, had lunch. When I said I haven't, as I'm working, he offered to give me lunch to take away. I thanked him but declined his offer. I was very impressed by his kindness and thoughtfulness.

The best chippy in Cardiff! The chicken in the strip burgers are unreal and the chips are always perfect! Portion size is great and price is affordable.. the staff are always smiling and it’s such a nice atmosphere! Love this chippy

My wife bought some delicious chips from here for us to share with our sandwiches while on a day out & we thoroughly enjoyed them. She also commented on the lovely staff & shop. We will surely return to try their fish sometime! This is the 2nd lovely chips review within a week I've had great pleasure to write, we can't believe our luck!!! 😋😋

Ordered a kebab on phone and they said pick up in 20 minutes, only to get there and a massive queue so even though you order on phone you still have to queue so what is the point. They were dishing it up as I got there and by the time I got served 25 minutes later it was cold, rang them to complain and all they do is talk over you, how rude, lost customer there

Best fish and chips in the UK. Our friends from London come and always request it. Irish curry sauce is top notch. Solid portions

The chips are alright, but everything else is horrible. Card reader never EVER working, they always want cash, but the most awful thing about this chip shop is that it is nothing more than a meeting place for all the local lowlife, with the staff actively encouraging the foul mouthed delinquent behaviour from all of the local 'disfunctional problem types' of which there are many around the Maelfa area.
