Nice venue. Clean with helpful staff. The place is showing its age but in the best possible way, as its size and decor are of a bygone era. A great place to watch a play and feel part of it. Small and personal. I would go here again and again.

Walking to work for Dirty Dancing for the first time from my digs in the wetlands to The New Theatre. Easy to find stage door left of entrance. Very nice and helpful stage doorman. Up two flights of stairs to dressing room #9. (The Beatles are always with me you see!) You can’t beat a Cardiff audience here. Full houses and very excited. Always a nice crowd at the stage door afterwards full of enthusiasm. Thank you Cardiff. Your buses back to the wetlands though? Ha!

I love the New Theatre. It's a fantastic venue, situated perfectly. Friendly staff and the place is full of character. Seats are a little small but that's because of the age of the venue. We had a lovely visit once again to see Derren Brown.

The New Theatre is a lovely little place. The seats are comfortable with a reasonable amount of legroom and you are never too far away from the stage. The staff were really friendly and after a quick check of our covid passes we were in.

The panto was great, but I paid for interval drinks and didn't get them. And because I couldn't show them an email - tickets ordered mid November - they refused tobsetve them. This is disgusting as they didn't send confirmation of tickets or drinks. I called them 4 times to get ticket confirmation only the day before regarding the tickets. Please ensure they s rnd you confirmation or be prepared to lose money for their profit. And, the theatre was messy from the previous performance.

I went to see The Addams Family here, the show was fantastic and there was lots of room in my seat. There was snacks on sale but card was needed due to Covid restrictions. Overall, I enjoyed and it was a great experience.

Had a great night seeing Deathdop! Theatre staff all wearing masks and plenty of sanitiser available. Zero social distancing in foyer, but more surprisingly in the theatre seating too. If at all possible do not park in the nearby NCP in Greyfriars Rd, £20 something !!

Other than being really expensive, I enjoyed it here. I went to watch Titanic the Musical and it was amazing. So good here and the actors and actresses were amazing too, amazing service and staff. Really great here other than the expense, I really recommend watching Titanic the Musical, so good I can't type it.

Nice theatre with a period charm. The upper circle seats offer a very good view of the stage. Very nice, polite and helpful staff. I have been to many theatres, but it was the first time when the staff asked me if walking up the stairs is not a problem. Prices at the bar relatively high - 500ml a bottle of soft drink was over £3.

Stunning old theatre, been here many many times, and will be heading back in June. Lovely building, helpful staff and a great atmosphere.

Went to see Jack and the Beanstalk. Haven't laughed so much in a while. It was fantastic. Easy to get to as parked by the Museum, 5 min walk then. No queueing, straight in no fuss. Love coming here & would definitely recommend.

Great time at the New Theatre, Cardiff heading back in time for the 80's music of Calling Plant Earth. Facilities were ok, long wait at the bar, separate one for sift drinks would be advantageous.

I always love attending this theatre. The staff are amazing and always polite and friendly. The facilities are great and the seating is comfortable and yet the whole venue is compact and makes for a very intimate setting. Love this place.

Went here to see some great performances, especially the Mirror Crack'd by Agatha Christie, which was phenomenal. The place was quite easy to reach and within a walking distance from St. David Shopping Mall, which provided us with plenty of parking spaces. Although staff were always friendly and helpful and no doubt they did their best to make the whole experience great but obviously, the building has seen better days. It would be nice to see some restorations in place as it's such full of history. I would love to enjoy this theatre for many more years.

It first opened in 1906. It was designed by theater architects Ernest Runtz and Ford, a London-based architectural firm. It was made with Bath Stone. The stage was 76 feet wide and 54 feet deep. The grid was 57 feet above the stage. The theater was closed for a time in the 1990s for a complete makeover. After a facelift to the facade in 2006 and the installation of new seating in 2012 plus an elevator and a repainting of the auditorium, the Theatre is open again.

Amazing performance of the Titanic the best we have seen ,the theatre was nice and they were very accommodating as my daughter was in a wheelchair due to foot surgery, the seats were quite uncomfortable but that was the only thing I could say to make it better.

Nice theatre, comfortable seats, and good food/drink choices. Of course like any other theatre they’re a bit expensive! Also the men’s loo on the top floor is converted into a women’s loo, so men have to use ground or first floor bathrooms.

Card only no cash at all. Excellent staff with very good customer service training. But in fact all just lovely ppl to deal with. Either on phone or in person. Enjoy a fantastic night out, brilliant range of shows go every month .only downside is seats can run small. But it is an old theatre

Lovley old theatre. Friendly staff. Reasonable priced drinks, sweets very overpriced! Pre-order interval drinks then no waiting! Big queue for the toilets, had to wait most of the interval. Seats old as you would expect, so not overly comfortable but that's old theatre chairs and have sat in worse! But a great view. Didn't know it existed and definitely would go there again!

Tiny seats with not much legroom but brilliant view of the stage. Very over priced soft drinks and sweets £6 for a bottle of pepsi and a bag of munchies. Sneak your own refreshments in. Had a great time at the John Grant show.

Beautiful venue. But as we are still emerging from covid . Was surprised that we were packed in the theatre space with no social distance or masks worn. But as the theatre industry is still recovering from pandemic I understand why they didn't limit numbers.

I like the New Theatre. It's old, it's traditional, it has good productions across lots of different genres. I'm not an art buff or even a regular theatre goer but it really is a fab old venue. 👌👍

Great venue, real character unlike so many modern buildings. Bar was run with excellent organisation, all things considered.

Nice place. Seating need updating though. It's like flying with easyjet. Not good if you're a big bloke....or woman.

The seating in the front circle has plenty of room so being tall that's great. This show was the music of Billy Joel , great singer and band sound very good as was the lighting , a fab night overall.

A great place to see a show or a band, recently refurbished to a high standard in the bar areas. The staff are friendly and helpful. Toilets are small and there can be a wait during the interval, but that's not an issue. I would have given it 5 stars but there was a long queue getting in and then queuing for refreshments the bar announced it was closing for the act to start, and it was so warm inside no option for water. A free water cooler would have been Ideal and something to consider. By the way Billy Joel Song Book was outstanding.

I love this Theatre, old world grandeur not flashy, but like an old friend who you always feel comfortable with. Staff as always were lovely and made keeping to Covid restrictions easy. Felt totally safe with the arrangements. The play Dial M for murder was so well acted and I'd forgotten the twist. Great afternoon out.

Great place for theatre! Smaller than WMC (obviously) but great nonetheless. We went to see Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Staff are nice and will help and direct you to your seat no problem. The trip to the bar at the intermission was quick and as it should be - they even had my favourite White Zinfandel Rose🤣😜 Also, some very interesting photos in the foyer of how it used to look over 100 years ago. The place is very recommended👍

The venue is a long-established theatre with a long history of great shows. We saw a kids show and the performance did not disappoint. Very entertaining for all, not just the children. The seats are comfortable and not cramped. The only negative is that like most entertainment centres, the snacks, drinks, and merchandise are way over-priced.

Really good venue. Its quite small which personally I like because no matter where you sit you always have a good view. Found the place organised and the staff good

Watched Aladdin pantomime. Great time had by all. Lovely pre-christmas fun. Pity they had to cancel shows after Christmas because of lockdown measures. Already booked for next year
