Liberty Gardens is one of the newer liberty branded student accommodations in Cardiff. It is situated opposite Cardiff prison and next door to Cardiff's fire station, and Is just a 2 minute walk from the University of south Wales. In my experience with liberty I have had pleasant interactions with most of their staff, whom do try to organise social events for residents and over the course of the year provided a few nice gifts for people for Christmas, Halloween etc. I haven't experienced what the "shared" accommodation is like, as I stayed in liberty's "deluxe studio" which for one person is spacious and very modern. However it does have some negatives, such as charging sockets in odd places, and very small wardrobe space. The kitchen area in the studios is quite basic and the combi-oven Is quite small, the fridge/freezer quickly fills up if you like to bulk buy, which almost forces you into regular shopping. The overall building is clean and modern, however it does suffer from residents and their attitudes, this might be where liberty gardens could improve the most. It often feels like some residents run the roost and are allowed to act like animals and make other people's lives uncomfortable under the guise of "it's student halls". Unfortunately my stay at liberty has seen a large amount of crime as well, many occasions of residents using drugs and residents cars being damaged as there is no parking on site, so residents who need their car are forced to park in the open via pay-and-display. TL:DR: clean, modern building, fairly decent value for money, good location, friendly staff, some crime/drugs, unpleasant residents on occasion

The rooms are great, but the location is not ideal. There aren't any shops nearby and it's next to a fire station and a large traffic intersection so it does get noisy sometimes.

Really nice place to stay at, really liked the single rooms they offer (I like my privacy thank you very much). Wi-Fi is speedy, staff are friendly, and a 10 minute walk to Queen Street. There's much to explore in the surrounding area Train station is really close by and connects you to major cities in UK like Bristol and London.

Great placement if you want to be just on the outskirts but close to the city centre, there's a fire station nextdoor so quick response but directly across the road is Cardiff prison

Adam Street Gardens in Cardiff has left me thoroughly disappointed. While the concept of having a communal outdoor space is commendable, the execution at this location falls significantly short of expectations. The general maintenance is a cause for concern; the green spaces are unkempt, and it seems like there's a lack of effort in preserving the natural beauty of the area. One of the major drawbacks is the poorly cared-for amenities. From damaged benches to outdated play equipment, it's evident that there's a neglectful attitude toward the upkeep of these facilities. This not only impacts the aesthetic appeal but also raises questions about the overall safety and functionality. Cleanliness is another major issue plaguing Adam Street Gardens. Trash bins seem to overflow, and there's a pervasive lack of attention to detail when it comes to tidiness. This not only detracts from the overall ambiance of the space but also makes it less inviting for visitors who are seeking a peaceful and well-maintained environment. It's disheartening to see a potentially beautiful public space fall into a state of disrepair. There's a clear need for more proactive management and regular maintenance to bring Adam Street Gardens up to the standard that residents and visitors alike would expect from a public green space. Until significant improvements are made, it's challenging to recommend this location for those seeking a positive outdoor experience in Cardiff.

Absolutely insane rules about student collaboration and safety during COVID, despite 0 new cases for months. We shouldn't feel anxious, scared, or nervous to live in a place we're supposed to call home.

Pretty much love this place. Studio gives you privacy but still the security of living in halls. Very helpful and easy going pleasant staff who are concerned enough that you are ok without being overbearing. Studio is perfect for a single person - spacious and perfectly adequate kitchen. Even provided with a tv - I would say that if you are a mature student a studio is better than a shared flat however the very young students are very pleasant as the atmosphere in general is. Deffo on of the best student places

Warning to all. Rooms look like nothing they show in the company's pictures. If you are making a decision what the room looks like and not the amenities within your room you will be greatly disappointed.

Adequate rooms at decent sizes with great care put in by staff. Downside are the basic furnishing in the rooms. 4/5 would move in again

Absolutely outstanding student accommodation! I stayed here for two academic years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. Staff members were always friendly and willing to help students with any issues. Security at Student Castle (now Liberty Gardens) was very professional as well. In terms of rooms, I stayed in a cluster and shared kitchen with other students. The facilities provided were beyond all possible expectations. The only disadvantage that I can think of is the location: accommodation is right next to the prison. Sometimes I could hear noises coming from there.

Even though you make a reservation of the type of room you want, it's still possible that you can't have it for no reason. The accommodation is only for lucky people. Come to test whether you're lucky or not :)

We had some issues checking my daughter into halls on her first day but the on-site staff and maintenance team were amazing in sorting out everything straight away. Big shout out to Daniel for being so responsive. The rooms are lovely and spacious.
