Shelly Park

Tourist attraction β€’ Park β€’ Playground

πŸ‘ It's a beautiful park, nice and quiet. It was perfect on the day we went when it was 36Β°. The water was so cold and refreshing and the rockpool is great for a swim to avoid the waves. Not too far from Cronulla and is significantly quieter so you can actually get a park. People often mention park, pool, beach, great, kids, Great, playground, spot, area, water,

It is my first time here and I can assure you guys that it is a great place for everyone one including children . The ocean view is spectacular . You can have nice and safe swim at the rock pool that filled with ocean water everytime a wave comes which make the water very clear and clean. The park have a walking path alongside the beach. There is a playground for kids, toilets, ovens ,and seats around the park. You can fish off the rocks but be VERY careful as it may be very dangerous and slippery when wet. I really recommend this place and I did enjoy my day here.

Lovely family park perfect for gatherings and children's parties. Many memories made over the years and a great spot with the corner shop to get hot chips and ice creams. Shelly pool is such a vibe many of the locals do laps at sunrise and are the source of some great wholesome convos and the nuns pool rock beach is also a nice spot for a shallow dip.

One of my favorite places for a beach walk. Beautiful views along the cliff coast on a rating can make you forget about everyday life.

An excellent park located right on the water. Toilets, park benches, BBQ facilities, water fountains, showers and plenty of grass. Some shade from the trees. Swimming available at the ocean pool. Locals built the initial pool in the early 1900s, but it only became a formalised ocean baths when the walls were put in under the Unemployment Benefit Scheme in the 1930s. Minimal rolling waves at this beach. Rocks on the shoreline - it’s not your normal β€œbeach.” You can enter the water - but there are rocks at the shoreline. A shoreline walking track passes through the park. The water located to the south of the ocean pool is used by divers to enter the water.

Lovely setting with various shady spots to have a picnic. Parking is limited in busy periods and shops are not nearby, so bring all supplies with you.

Shelly Park is a great park. There is a large play equipment set for those with young ones, a large grassed area for cricket, sheltered areas for lunch, a large ocean pool, toilets and changerooms. There's also a Cafe across the road, and you can walk up and down the coastline along the Cronulla esplanade. A great spot.

Great place for families to gather and relax together. Right on the water but with plenty of grass area and tables to make it comfortable. Pet friendly too, as long as they're on a leash. Worth the effort.

Nice park with a children's playground, plenty of natural grass, toilet facilities and a small sandy beach. A bit of a slope towards the beach and parking is limited so come early ir catch a train to Cronulla station. A walking seaside track is a must to do.

Bring your water shoes for the kids, lots of "sea glass" and shells here. Calm water, beautiful scenery, love the little pool area. There's a playground near by as well. And a little walk you can do over looking the ocean - beautiful! There are washrooms nearby as well.

Really a nice park to go to. Nice picnic tables and benches, if you are early enough. Decent takeaways nearby. There is also a cummunal BBQ if you want to do your own. Parking is a bit "tight", but that is understandable - it's a very popular place.

Great beach with something for everyone, including a large beach rock pool where you can sit in the shallows with young children or swim out to the far end to catch a wave splashing over the wall. Room on sand and rocks to set up, or if you prefer grass, the park is right behind the pavilion with views down to the water.

Nice small beach. Great spot to dive. Also has a rock pool and amenities close by. Good spot for family and a BBQ. Also a nice scenic walk to Cronulla Beach or the other way.

Big seaside park facing Shelly Beach. Large shaded playground. Plenty of shade under mature Norfolk Pines. Easy access to coastal pathway for strolling or jogging - Bicycles not allowed on pathway. Very crowded on weekends and public holidays. Street parking available but you have to be early on busy days.

Really great place to swim or have a picnic. With a good cafe near by and toilet facilities.

Brought back so many memories latest visit as I used to frequent this little beach so much growing up. So many more cafes available now and that take away shop on the corner still going strong with an awesome face lift. The rock pool and the small sandy beaches on both sides remain in good shape. The grassy hills with an awesome view of the ocean. The massive park with kids playground and bbq areas. The toilet and shower facility still standing and in good shape. The walkway which goes all the way to Cronulla beach. There is so much more and I highly recommend all families and partners to spend a day on a weekend with good weather and catch the sunset.

Shelly Park ,beach & baths is a Fantastic place to go and relax. Not so packed as the other beaches. Very wheelchair friendly from the car parking to the baths stairs .The people there on the day were helpful and accommodating. It was my wife & first time back to a beach since her stroke. We are both looking forward to our next visit and I'm confident that we will become regulars to shell Park.πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸ»β˜οΈ

My earlist memories as a child is my parents taking me over the weekends to the ocean pool at Shelley Beach. Now many years later as an adult I'm still drawn to Shelley Beach, sitting in a quiet spot and watching the majesty of the ocean breaking upon the sand and deeply breathing in the salty air. A beautiful part of the world.

  • 4/5 Jessica P. 2 years ago on Google
Easy access and a nice fenced park for the small people. A few covered bbq areas also. The ocean pool is usually clear and has a nice sandy bottom with both a general beach area as well as man made ramp and stairs with rails for easy entry. The worst bit is trying to find parking. Plenty of spots but always taken so be prepared for a few minutes walk from a side street, to get to it.

  • 4/5 Jessica P. 2 years ago on Google
Nice rock pool with a little beach. Access to the open water on either side. Toilets/ change rooms built before antiquity but function well and add to the general vibe. It's got a couple of out door showers as well. Nice park with a playground and a couple of seated shelters in the vicinity. It's a steep slope from the top to the rock pool and beach, so best for able bodies.

Anywhere along the Cronulla beachside is lovely if you can find parking. The water is clean and inviting and the play area great for kids. The toilets at Shelley really need a makeover though.

Beautiful spot, perfect for a family or group of people. Play ground , open grass areas , restrooms and showers close by as well as plenty of shade and easy access to the rock pool and beach area plenty of room to put up a tent for that extra bit of shade, locals are friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are close at hand, I would recommend getting there early to try to get a parking spot but there are plenty of backstreets to park on within walking distance

Shelly Park is a 12-hectare park located in the suburb of Maroubra, New South Wales, Australia. It is named after the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, who visited Sydney in 1811. The park is home to a variety of facilities, including a playground, a skate park, a BMX track, a tennis court, a basketball court, and a picnic area. There is also a walking track that winds through the park, offering views of the ocean and the surrounding suburbs. Shelly Park is a popular spot for families and young people. It is also a popular spot for birdwatching, as it is home to a variety of native bird species. The park is open from 7am to 7pm daily. Here are some other things to know about Shelly Park: * It was originally called Maroubra Park, but was renamed in 1936 to honor Percy Bysshe Shelley. * The park was designed by Walter Burley Griffin, who also designed the Australian Parliament House. * The park was used as a training ground for Australian soldiers during World War II. * The park is home to a number of heritage-listed buildings, including the Shelly Park Baths and the Shelly Park Pavilion. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors, Shelly Park is a great option. It is a beautiful park with a lot to offer visitors of all ages.

Great spot for a picnic or a swim. Public toilets/ changerooms are functional but needing a little love. Plenty of shade, water and bbqs. Great play equipment for the kids

Way too busy. People will almost piles up on top of each other to get a space on the grass The pool was absolutely packed which was terrible. Parking was an absolute nightmare and it's very hard for somebody with a disability to get there from the on street parking area. Definitely not a place I would recommend.

Great place to go hike and camp. Beautiful views from Half Dome, it's definitely worth hiking up there. Clean, well-maintained trails and you could just feel nature walking with you the whole way. Lots of squirrels saying hi along the way. The hike to Half Dome was eight hours to and back. Along the way, you can see three waterfalls, which are breathtaking and beautiful. The trails gradually increase in elevation. Challenging hike for those who aren't physically fit. The waterfalls you are able to just go in, but sometimes can be slippery on the rocks so do be careful. Dogs are allowed here so don't be afraid to bring your pup! Camping is a recommendation since it's a good price but you need a reservation because of how packed it could get. A very popular place to go. Excellent nature!
