If you don’t have a phobia of seagulls you’re in the clear! Sydney Fish Market is a large marketplace featuring shops for fresh seafood, deli items, wine, and baked goods + restaurants. It’s always a very fun but crowded experience here so it is best to go early in the morning for the freshest cuts of seafood! The fish market by far has the best Lobster Roll I have ever tasted! It was super flavoursome and the Lobster was SO fresh! By far my one of my most favourite thing to eat at the Fish Market! Also absolutely loved how they torched the cheese as it complemented the lobster and bun so well.

Messy, but lovely place. Great variety of seafood, fresh sashimi, oysters, absolutely enjoy my morning there, had the tuna toro for $25, 4 slices, which could easily cost over a hundred dollars in restaurants. Super fresh king fisher. Oyster is a must try. I would recommend to visit there as early as possible, you will get to see the people in action, bringing in the seafood into the port. I would say this is a must have experience when you’re in Sydney, especially if you have plans to cook.

Best fresh seafood you'll get in Sydney! We had a bit of everything, Lobster rolls, king crab legs, scallops with rice combo, a decent seafood platter for 2 and the freshest rock oysters. All very delicious! Be prepared to spend, it's not cheap but the quality is fantastic.

Always plenty of parking when we arrive for food. They've also cooked raw food that we picked fresh off the shelf. Parking costs are reasonable. It costs the same as taking public transport, so I'd rather drive. Don't feed the birds. Fried battered Soft shell crabs are $6 each Fried battered large prawns are $2 each. Ordering food fresh and having it cooked is the best way to experience what this place has to offer. The mini Tabasco bottles are nice souvenirs. Avoid food that has been sitting in the windows. Stay away from the clearance food. I will definitely go back.

Great fish market in Sydney! There are a lot of seafood to try from raw till cooked. Although there are not many stores but I tasted various food. Recommend to try the Aburi scallops!Overall, everything is quite pricey and food taste is just okay.

If you are a seafood lover, this is the place that you should visit. So many different kinds of seafood and the price is not expensive. Just like walking through an indoor seafood supermarket. you can buy anything you like, and they have eating areas for you to sit down and eat. Some seafood are severed fresh, some have been cooked, you can also ask them to cook for you, very flexible. A very good experience at this Fish Market

Always come and visit Sydney Fish Market when in town. Amazing selection of the finest fresh fish and shellfish that Australian waters can provide. Lots of the fishmongers sell prepared sushi and sashimi to eat there. So fresh and an incredible selection of all types of seafood. Parking is easy, recommend you get there early. They’re actually holding a new fish market next door, so do pay a visit to the old fish market before it moves. Highly recommended.

If you want fresh fish then this is the place to go. They have everything the supermarkets have and then some. Parking is quite easier they have their own parking lot albeit it is paid unless you are only there for fifteen minutes and that is never going to happen. There are a few restaurants and cafes inside as well. There is also a bread shop.

Great variety of seafood to choose from and a very busy place. Delicious and fresh food. Definitely needs the new relocation as the facilities are very run down and showing its age. Parking can be difficult and finding a seat to eat needs patience. Recommend taking your food to eat across the road at the park.

Well, this is a fish market, so please do not expect a smell like Prada or Chanel. If you want fresh fish, maybe still alive, or any kind of seafood 🦞 then this is the place for. Dine in with a great choice or take away for a delicious meal at home. I have seen many great cities at the sea but never such a great place. Sydney Fish Market. Don't miss!

If you're a seafood lover, it's worth a trip here. It's a decent place to get seafood but don't expect Japan quality. If you want to eat outside, just look out for the bin chickens. It is still hotly debated on whether they're a endangered species or pest. 😂😭

It's no Tsukiji, but very respectable shops in their own rights. I love the lobster, oysters, and prawn/scampi choices & I love that you can ask the shops to cook for you even more. Make sure you go to Peter's. Had lobster tail at Nicholas' and Peter's and much prefer the one in Peter's. There's even a decent coffee shop & deli as well.

Sydney Fish Market – a one-of-a-kind seafood hub! You can snag just about any sea creature here. Always up for a visit because the freshness and variety beat the supermarket any day. Pick your seafood fresh and have it cooked at a restaurant, or grab pre-cooked if you're in a hurry. Cleanliness could step up a notch, and watch out for those seagulls if you're dining outdoors – they're food thieves!

If you are going to Sydney... And you like fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Choose your poison, get them to cook for you, sit down and enjoy. Best to go in the morning before lunch time as there will be less crowd.

Sydney Fish Market is an iconic destination for seafood lovers in Sydney, offering an impressive selection of fresh fish and seafood, as well as a range of cafes and restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day. As soon as you enter the market, you're hit with the sights and smells of the ocean, making it a true feast for the senses. One of the best things about Sydney Fish Market is the range of seafood available. From oysters to prawns, salmon to lobster, there's something for everyone here. The quality of the seafood is exceptional, with everything being sourced fresh from local waters and expertly prepared by the skilled fishmongers. And if you're not sure what to choose, the friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice and recommendations. In addition to the seafood, the market also offers a range of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal with a view. The waterfront location provides a stunning backdrop for a leisurely lunch or dinner, and the selection of eateries means that there's something to suit every taste and budget. Whether you're in the mood for fish and chips, sushi, or something more upscale, Sydney Fish Market has you covered. Overall, if you're a seafood lover in Sydney, a trip to Sydney Fish Market is a must.

My first time trying raw fish in any form. Instead of choosing a restaurant I chose Sydney fish market. Amazing experience. Staff at every shop was very supportive and yes they are patient. For sushi, the person from the shop(as there are different shops) helped me with what to try as a first timer. If you want to try raw or cooked seafood for first time with lots of variety, this is the place and then you will fall in love with this place and will come again :)

A feast for the stomach and the eyes too - look how pretty the nigiri are!!! The fish markets were very popular on a Saturday morning but not many lines and we found seats outside to enjoy the water views. We got around 110 bucks worth of food between 3 which is pretty good considering the variety of fresh seafood that we enjoyed! Fav was definitely the king crab leg and scallops. Will be visiting more frequently now!!

Sydney Fish Market is a seafood lover's paradise and a must-visit destination for anyone craving the freshest catch of the day. Nestled along the picturesque waterfront, it's not just a marketplace but an experience in itself. One of the highlights of the Sydney Fish Market experience is the opportunity to indulge in delectable seafood delights while basking in the sunshine by the water's edge. With numerous outdoor seating areas, you can savor your meal amidst the bustling atmosphere and enjoy the salty breeze that sweeps in from the harbor. During our visit, we couldn't resist trying some of the market's specialties, and we were blown away by the sushi donut and lobster roll. Bursting with flavor and impeccably prepared, they quickly became our favorites. The sushi donut, a creative twist on traditional sushi, was a delightful fusion of textures and tastes, while the lobster roll was a decadent treat that left us craving more. But the beauty of Sydney Fish Market lies not just in its delicious offerings but also in the vibrant energy that permeates the air, every moment spent here is a feast for the senses. Whether you're a seafood aficionado or simply looking for a memorable culinary experience, Sydney Fish Market delivers on all fronts. So grab a seat, order your favorite dishes, and prepare to embark on a gastronomic journey like no other.

MUST VISIT. This place offer you a wide range of Fresh seafood. There are variety options for you from fresh sashimi to sushi or poke bowl. I have try a lot from different store, most of them are great and fresh. Except the Alaska crab with burnt cheese one, its taste yummy but sadly not serving hot enough. 🥲 Overall, it's a must visit place. Especially for seafood lover! Cons : the table not enough for the crowds if you go during meal time. You have to wait for a while.

This market is not only made for locals, it’s also a great tourist attraction. Great atmosphere, the crowds and the shoutings just reminds you of a proper fish market. The market offers a wide range of seafood that are fresh, caught daily. From personal experience, It is recommended that you arrive early in the morning somewhere around 10-11 if you’re that kind of person who doesn’t like the wait and crowds of people.

Great seafood spots in Sydney. Plenty shops and restaurants to select from. Every seafood looks incredibly fresh and juicy. It's nice to sit outside by the bay, but you should exercise some caution around the birds. It's a good idea to order takeaway so you can enjoy it at home away from the birds. Though somewhat pricey, it was still worthwhile to try.

It's always great to see the local freshly caught fish. Amazing to see the fishmongers cleaning and sorting fish out. Then just beside that you can watch the chefs applying their amazing skills preparing the seafood in hundreds of different ways. Great to eat here but be prepared for large crowds and long queues. Hard to find a place to sit as well.

Tourists often come here to eat seafood in Sydney. The food is ok and the price is ok, not very cheap. The suggestion is that if you have finished buying food, you should choose a seat in the outdoor courtyard next to the port, it will be very nice and airy, do not sit inside. You should buy wine at the store inside to drink with seafood. Be careful not to let the birds steal your food while you are busy taking photos.

Excellent place for fresh fish and seafood. Quite an institution for Sydney. Looking forward to the new development to provide more space - at peak times it is really hard to find a space. We ended up in the Boat Shed restaurant - excellent, but a little more expensive than the other options.

I’ll give it 5 stars since it’s so hard to see a big market like this could please everyone but it almost did it! We went there today after first visit 5 years ago. It actually even better! The Peter’s seafood is great as usual and the food stool/cart at front sells grilled scallop and lobsters are so yummy and better than ordinary counter food there. I’m very happy about the food and ambiance there, so 5 stars for the experience today :)

I went through the reviews before going to the market and many of them were about prices and crowds. I finally visited this place on a Tuesday early morning (I understand that people who live in Sydney may not be able to do this due to work/school/distance) and it was a pleasant experience. There were few people and shops were just open. All facilities (including toilets) clean and plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your food. Regarding prices, i believe it all depends on what you actually want to eat. For example, I don't buy lobster because I don't like it. However, if you haven't tried it or you want to try it specifically here, then your bill's going to be more expensive. I only bought what I really wanted to eat as for taste and portions. So saying it is expensive or cheap is relative. Ther is a fresh fruit section by the end of the market after all the fish stalks, worth trying The chocolate strawberries! The quality is definitely top, everything is fresh and not smelly. If you are a tourist in Sydney looking for a good, fresh meal, give this place a go!

Have you ever wondered where everyone has gone if they’re not at the opera bar or at any of Sydney’s icon bars and restaurants over the weekend? Yes that’s right everyone is at the fish markets buying and eating lots of seafood! If you thought interest rates going up and cost of living was taking the toll, that’s not the case at Sydney fish market. It’s one of the busiest touristy attractions you’ll find in Sydney especially on a nice sunny day. When dining outside just be mindful seagulls and garbage chickens are always on the lookout for free food. Because it’s a major attraction, bring lots of cash because you’ll need it for both parking and the seafood. There’s a lot of great food from raw to cooked. It’s always good to eat at the market ready cooked, you’ll find lots of different seafood packages. If you’re planning to buy raw seafood, save your money and go to your local seafood shop as it will be much cheaper. Things to try at the market include: oysters, king crab leg, lobster bun, crab, sashimi, aburi scallops, grilled seafood, prawns The construction that’s currently undergoing will be the new Sydney fish market due for completion in 2024. The new building will include restaurants, bars, cooking school classes and outdoor seating. Even though the fish market is heavily overpriced, it’s a popular destination with great atmosphere and some of the very best seafood you’ll find in the southern hemisphere and second largest internationally. If you’re up early in the mornings, check out the auctions starting 5:30am.

The craziest, biggest seafood market I have ever seen for any seafood lovers. They had everything that is seafood fresh and cooked. Everything was very fresh and delicious and prices were very reasonable. The lobsters and shrimps were also delicious. Some seafood can be picked and cooked on the spot.

If you like seafood, this large fish market is your must be place! Fresh, good taste good price, many kinds of sea food will let you so happy. They also can cook at there. No need waiting, no on road traffic hassle, buy and eat. I think they make update this moment. When is ready, go enjoy.

Great fish market. It is extremely busy which can make it hard to pick or see what you want. Most of the stalls sell anything you could want to take home and cook, they usually have a sashimi/sushi and oyster bar as well as a variety of fried and grilled fish platters. Careful sitting outside as the seagulls will be hunting your food.

If you want reviews about the retail area of the fish markets, read the other great entries. My review is about the behind the scenes tour of the workings of the market. Our tour guide was professional, knowledgeable and injected her enthusiasm into the tour. The tour included some history of the market and local area, then onto the auction floor, with its fascinating Dutch auction system. We were shown various species of fish and crustaceans, many of which I didn’t realise were of commercial interest. A very enjoyable experience and well worth the early start!

I recently visited the Sydney Fish Market and had a memorable experience. The outside dining area had a lively vibe, with seagulls, emus, and pelicans adding to the coastal atmosphere. 🐦🦆🦩 However, the construction of the new market was a bit distracting and took away from the otherwise pleasant scene. 🚧 Now let's talk about the food—it was simply tremendous! 🦀🦞 I indulged in a huge king crab, mussels, and various shellfish that were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The sashimi of salmon and scallops were a highlight and absolutely delicious. 🍣 The addition of burnt ends meats complemented the meal perfectly. 🥩 Don't forget to bring your own wines, as whites pair exceptionally well with seafood. 🍷 One thing to be aware of during your visit is the birds—they love to join in on the dining experience uninvited! 🕊️ Be prepared to shoo them away. Overall, Sydney Fish Market offers a fantastic selection of seafood dishes in a vibrant atmosphere. Just be mindful of the feathered friends looking to share your meal!

A lot of varieties of fresh sea food! I recommend you to stay and eat inside the building, otherwise you’ll have to fight the birds who try to take your food. Price is a bit high, but that’s reasonable enough for seafood. Everything is delicious except for the garlic lobster who I bought at one of the first stores near the entrance. The lobster was too dry and tasteless.

My favorite seafood spots in sydney. Good vibes. So enjoy it. Many shops and restaurants to choose. All seafood seem so so fresh and after cook as our order they are all juicy. Sitting outdoors along the bay is good, but need to be careful about the birds a bit. 🕊️ They might be hungry too. Love the 💖 crab and oyster here a lot 👏🏻📣

Currently a bit of renovation being done. This place is the largest fish market in Sydney, serving all kinds of seafood to the public. Also, they have many food vendors where you can get freshly cooked seafood and pretty good prices. Personally as a vegetarian, it's a bit of a challenge, but they do have some places I can eat. There is a fresh fruit market, a bakery, and deli that serve vegetarian friendly baked goods and sandwiches. I opted for an acai bowl, a feta and kale pie, and a milk tea. All were good! Just a bit overpriced, but I guess if you're not eating fish, then your options are slim 🙏🏽🤙🏽

BBQ Grill was a real disappointment. The food here is precooked not made as you order. Was cold and bland. For the money paid, I certainly would of expected more being situated in a fish market. The the only time I will ever revisit this market is to buy fresh seafood.

What an experience. It's worth a visit for those who are adventurous. Plenty of fresh sea food and made to order. But watch out for some dodgy vendors, make sure they cook the fresh fish or crab that you ordered otherwise they might switch it for old stock. Paid parking on site. Light rail access nearby.

I visited the Fish Market twice on my last trip to Sydney and will definitely return in the future. Some friends of mine recommended arriving early in the morning to try the super fresh seafood here, and it was true! I've had many fresh oysters in my hometown in Vietnam, which is also rich in seafood, but the oysters at Sydney Fish Market still made me say 'Wow.' The food is diverse, and everything can be rated from good to outstanding. This place can be crowded, but don't worry; there are numerous seats available, and they also provide napkins.

A selection of seafood for seafood lovers to choose from! From lobsters to salmon, everything here is pretty fresh plus the chefs are really professional when dealing with them. The outside sitting area has a lot of birds flying around though, so visitors please be careful with your food :) We ordered the king crab and it was amazing. the scallops are also really good. Would definitely come again.

This is the most spectaular fish market I have visited! Large amounts of seafood to choose from which you can take home fresh or eat at the market! Choices range from sushi/sashimi, crustaceans, molluscs, and even sea urchins! Also has cooked seafood as well if that is your preference. Prices are a tad expensive but you can get a good feed with very high quality fresh seafood for $50. It is worth the trip and worth the money. Would recommend eating at Peter's Fish Market.

Usually extremely busy with foreign tourists and suffocating to visit but during lock down, the place is basically for locals. Enjoy the fresh seafood without fighting for a place to sit is a pleasure so we're enjoying this peace while it lasts. Tourism is great for the economy so not opposing border reopening and the expansion of the fish market is on the card.

Prices were exhorbant to what we get here locally. Food not fresh, cooked food been sitting too long and therefore dry upon arrival and fresh seafood literally watered to the pont where there was no taste. Will not be visiting here for a while. Wanted to help with what is happening with the virus and all but standards have dropped dramatically since last year and we enjoyed coming here on special occasions or lunch with the kids now and then.

The peeps at Peter's were especially helpful and friendly. Loved their selection and quality of fresh sashimi, especially the octopus which was juicy and not too chewy. Their lobster roll was divine, and they're really generous with the portions in the cooked seafood sets! The cheesy aburi scallop sushi over at the Fish Market Cafe was very delicious as well! They have an impressive extensive menu, wish I could have tried more of it. We came around 7am when it first opens, and everyone still seems to be busy setting up, BUT don't be shy and start ordering from the stalls - they are more than happy to deliver! Overall this was such a lovely place and must-visit, despite it being called a "tourist trap" its really worth it.

Best place to buy fresh fish, prawns, lobsters, clams, mussels, so on and so forth in the city, especially for those who enjoy eating fresh sea food. You’ll get to see different type of fish that you can not imagine they even exist. It’s fun to visit this market and it doesn’t get busy during the COVID-19.

Great place to visit with an incredible variety of fresh and cooked seafood. Fun to walk around and compare quality and prices if you're after fresh seafood, the choice and range are amazing. Something for everyone including yum cha, a butcher and some interesting eat in options. Can be a bit hit and miss depending on the day and the crowds as it can get very busy which can detract from the overall experience. Eating outside will attract hordes of seagulls so beware! This place was honestly amazing, if you love eating fresh fish/seafood this place is the right way to go. Great variety of seafood and even some fruit stores. But bring a good about of cash/money with you because the bill can rack up fast. Also bring an cooler and ice packs to take some fresh fish home.

Well times have changed.. the food average buffet set up I think they need to set a net around the outdoor area so the birds don't intervene. I probably prefer a fish and chip shop close to the beach as I can see they do it fresh.
