I have played at Hills for a long time and want to acknowledge both the negatives and the positives. There are some really great refs here, but also some really poor refs. Just being honest, and believe I and others are entitled to our opinions (have read the reviews and I feel like the courts should really try and take this feedback on instead of continually saying there are two sides to every story, as we are the clients paying to be here). I feel like the more senior refs want to be there and are continually fair and engaged, but we find some of the younger refs (18-25) are too busy talking with their colleagues to focus on the game in front of them. It would be great to see some more consistency throughout the referee team. Also - a ref who plays in a certain division/comp, should not be allowed to referee that same division/comp - very bias. It would also be great if at the end of a round (each team has versed each other) a review is put in place. There are also many teams that need to be moved up divisions and choose low divisions, smash every team and there is no fair play. ***On a positive note, the front desk team are always great! Friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help even in busy periods and are an asset to the stadium. The courts are always clean and spacious and the stadium is a credit to management. The COVID systems in place have been very fair and appropriate and managed extremely well. Thanks Hills!

I am very disappointed and upset by the behaviour of some of the staff member’s of Hill’s Hornets. I see that there are lot of favouritism going on in the club which I have been ignoring because I don’t want to upset my boys. My sons have been part of this association for years. But just recently the behaviour of a staff member just broke my heart and I am very angry and disappointed by his actions. The way he behaved was very unprofessional and rude.

Well managed and great complex. The canteen has good variety for a quick in between snack and reasonably priced. Parking gets quite busy, although parents are usually quite good to leave straight after their games to allow the next lot to park.

A local not-for-profit sporting association with a money making mentality. Profits before people. According to the CEO himself Hills Basketball Association is proud to ‘have built a solid financial position over a number of years.’ Which means they’ve got a bank account with plenty of $$$$$ in it that enables them to recommission a sports complex whenever they feel like it. HBA are in this position because they overcharge everyone for everything all the time. And once they’ve got your money they won’t be giving it back. Even when you’re rightly entitled to a refund. On a positive note, when they are swept, and the roof isn’t leaking, the courts are pretty good. ****MY RESPONSE: Spare me. Rep fees for 2021 season: $630. Half of 2021 season cancelled. $630/2 = $315 refund for the basketball I did not play. But that logic is entirely unreasonable thus wasn't factored into your 2 month deliberation on the matter.

The location is very popular, the demand is far exceed the offer. This is the main reason why the management does not care for their existing "client". If you want your kids to have a consistent training, this is not the place to go. The re enrollment system is like a competition, you will be lucky to secure a spot for your kid if you "fight" for it! The training quality is normal, nothing special to stand out from others club.

It’s well maintained court. There are 6 courts inside with cafe. Court 1 has audience sit out area. Mobile signal will be bad, don’t plan to take office calls or work connected

I’ve been playing at Hills Hornets for a long time and the refs are really strict in the way they handle game management. Too much technical fouls which leads to 5 min in the sun bins. We’re here to play a social comp and have fun but it’s very frustrating. You can’t even ask questions as I requested the ref to clarify the rule and I received a tech foul for asking. No discussion policy; It’s really poor from a player’s perspective and I don’t encourage anyone who is looking to play social comp at Hills Hornets. They really need to change management as it’s very authoritarian.

Hills Hornets grading has been systemically poor. Most recently case our div 4 team was moved to div 1, after missing a season and never winning a comp (in Div 4). Unsurprisingly we have been soundly thrashed from the get go, by great teams who play solid basketball, well above our capability. It is so demoralising even the opposition stop playing just to give us some dignity. Parents of the other teams are apologising to us at the end of games. We made multiple requests, prior to the start of the season, before redraw, to the club, in writing. Told ... "you lose on avg of less than 12, so you are competitive". Ever seen teenage boys wanting to sub off? The whole team wants off at every sub. To see kids who just want to play basketball leave in tears every week is heartbreaking. The team love the game, they just want to play. Sure it might build character but enough is enough. On the positive side, great facilities, great court staff - the refs, the court supervisors and the front bench staff are awesome - they have tried their best and have been amazing - ,they tell us to email, write and call. We have "done all the right things" and followed every direction - but to no avail. It appears if you are not part of the training squads there is scant attention to feedback. Be careful about your child's wellbeing before putting their name down to play. It is a great stadium and facility, but the grading is toxic and degrading, with no recourse. It is why I am posting here.

Facilities are fine.... One less star as I consistently see my kid being hurt/injured by other kids. I am not sure if coaches can watch out or players are expected to be rough. Due to the location and access through a narrow road, traffic jam is caused.

My 2 adult daughters attended here during primary and high school years. I have now brought my 11 year old daughter for the last 5 years. They love basketball. Hills Hornets has provided them with a strong skills base to play confidently as a valuable team member. Coaches are fun, interactive, patience and educational. Office staff are very helpful. Onsite canteen is great for mums to have a coffee and snack. Kids always look forward to something from the canteen. Toilets, grandstand and stadium are always kept clean. The 2 new state of the art stadium courts toilets, office and training rooms are exceptional!

Played summer and winter comps here while I was in highschool, hopefully once this whole lockdown situation passes I can start playing there again. Also their new courts are awesome, can't wait to play there again!

the facility is great although some of the rims are a bit crooked some of the staff may be a little angry at some points. The worst parts of this facility are the refs they hire anyone they see i feel like they do not have the proper practice as finding a good ref in this facility is a really rare occasion i am disappointed by this

The Waratah league coach is abusive (which I experienced first-hand at rep trials in 2021), yet he won the club’s coach of the year award, so that might tell you about the culture of the place.

Good way of having fun and learning basketball. However Hills Hornet’s enrolling system is quite old school as every term you have to remember the day and enrol kids like brand new, while it should roll over to each term unless parents terminate. This is a very inconvenient system for full time working parents. They should change it. Also if you want to contact them over phone, it’s very inconvenient as they don’t have staff for general enquires.

I first played at HBA in 1996 and I have loved supporting the Hornets senior representative teams for years. I last played local comp here in 2021 (Thurs Men's A Grade) and hope to be back playing at HBA again soon. I've moved closer to HKBA (another good club) so it's currently more convenient for me to play there. I have a lot of fond HBA memories from supporting the Hornets, being involved in rep trainings, playing in local comp games and early morning shooting around. The people are always welcoming, the facilities are excellent and I've made some lifelong friends along the way. It's been awesome to see the Association go from strength to strength over the years. I look forward to being back at HBA when the 2024 NBL1 East season kicks off! Cheers 🏀

😠 Be there very early or very late or it's like mother Ganges in heat wave. Majority of lanes are reserved for lessons and recreational swimmers must share 4-5 people per lane. Steam and sauna are great. Fix the congestion/overlay of swim classes!
