It’s Panera, but healthier. It’s like a lot of other places you can go for fast, casual and healthy. But you can dial down the healthiness if you want with some neat sandwich choices, and what appear to be really good looking desserts. Great for kids who are picky and great if you want them to eat healthy as well. The closest comparison I can contemplate would be Flower Child and this is a nice change of pace and compliment. I enjoy this place! The food is very tasty, pictured is the vegan meatless loaf with basmati rice and roasted potatoes along with the green mint tea! All very delicious and complimentary to the aesthetic, inviting ambience! I gave it a 4, because the truth is it is expensive, and not affordable for many folks. But, if you can afford to treat yourself, I recommend it! The food feels good and is great quality, which is important considering the prices. But overall, would say it is always a positive experience eating here!

My friend and I went here for a little lunch date and received the most amazing food. The grilled chicken club was a perfect lunch, as well as the ahi tuna salad! There was great service , the food barely taking anytime to come. Shoutout to Manny, who was an amazing server making sure our food was exactly what we wanted.

Great selection of main courses and salads as well as side dishes. Had the chimichuri steak with mash and Brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked medium-rare and very flavorful. My daughter had their chicken tenders and she loved them. They were juicy and tasty. She really enjoyed the Mac n cheese.

Tremendous value & quality whether its date night or bring the kids. Healthy menu, classic recipes executed in a professional kitchen. By waitstaff who actually want to be here, and show it with smiles and good attitudes. A straight Tatis home run to dead center. Makes tender greens look, feel, and taste like a hospital cafeteria. My family and I have been loyal fans of Urban Plates for a long time, and our recent visit to the Urban Plates location in Carlsbad was truly extraordinary. The bright and spacious restaurant exudes a fresh and modern feel and I was thrilled to find my beloved green matcha latte on the menu, and I was delighted to meet the talented Sous Chef, Mathew Konatsu. The encounter with Sous Chef Mathew was absolutely enjoyable. He took the time to personally ensure that our meals were prepared perfectly, and his enthusiasm always was infectious. We appreciate his genuine interest in our dining experience and his willingness to answer our questions about the menu.

First time eating here yesterday and it was AMAZING! We had the steak, chimichurri steak, mashed potatoes, sesame broccolini, and brussel sprouts. So much flavor in the best way. The manager was super attentive and it was great being able to chat with him about our experience. Certainly adding to our restaurant rotation!

Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Meal was perfect. The turkey was savory and moist. Very flavorful. Desserts were great. I recommend the hummingbird cake if you are a carrot cake fan (it's not carrot cake though). Everyone there was very helpful and nice and wanted to make sure our meal was perfect.

If you havent been here in awhile or havent tried them, You Should!!! They are in full swing!! This place did a bit of transforming due to the pandemic, but the roots are still as good as it used to be. While you dont see the food as a cafeteria style line, you still choose a protein and all the seadonal sides were present. I got steak with my goto beet salad and asparagus, while my honey got shrimp skewers with brussels and rice pilaf. We topped our meal with the black cherry soda and of course a slice of hummingbird cake. We highly recommend this place for a fresh seasonal meal. They bring it to you now! Service here is always reminiscent of southern hospitality, always greeted with smiles and charm. Must tries? Beet salad and the hummingbird cake we never skip.

Manny's service was top notch. He made some wonderful menu suggestions. The dining room was clean and inviting. Our food was fresh and delicious. I brought my friend from Brazil and we enjoyed a fantastic lunch together. We will be back!

Pretty good and healthy options! The service is pretty quick. I got the four up sides, the portions were reasonable and just delicious. Loved the Roasted Carrots and Golden Beets, as well as the Creamy Polenta. One of the few places that has good vegetarian options!

I went in for lunch and had a delicious meal but, the service is what really earned this review. Such a wonderful and kind manager that took the time to make sure my order would be not just filling but, actually something I would enjoy. He and the others on staff that day also, went out of their way by turning on the outdoor heaters without me even requesting it. I really had such a wonderful experience and of the multiple locations of Urban Plates this one is by far the best! Quality food and environment!

Manny at the Encinitas location was very helpful and kind. It’s not often you see a manager ringing people through on the reg, but you know that when they do they care about their team. The food, as usual, was delightful! Enjoyed a nice lunch with girlfriends!

My husband and I had a great experience at the Carlsbad location. The manager, Manny, is a very nice and personable guy whose top priority is the guest experience. The food was hot and fresh. I like how there are so many different protein and options so you can literally get a different meal every time you’re at urban plate. We got chicken tenders and chimichuri steak and both were flavorful and cooked well. Staff were nice and welcoming, will definitely be back to this location.

I had the greatest experience at this Urban Plates location! All the employees are so friendly, ESPECIALLY MANNY! He greeted our table and we had a great conversation. The food was muy delicioso. I will be back, very soon.

I’m continually impressed by how many options Urban Plates has and the quality of the food on top of it all. It’s really easy to eat healthy or more homey here, and to order a new grouping of food every time you’re there. I’ve always walked in and ordered, but it appears that they have some way to order ahead that may be quicker to get your food. Either way, they have excellent seating options in side with plenty of room to work or meet with others over a meal.

First time here, food was good and service was fine. But during our visit there was some technical issues which required them stop incoming customers from coming in and we were warned the power may go out during our visit. During the pre shut down the manager was very rude and demeaning to his employees. He told one employee to stay like a dog and to remain in his box of chairs that he created for him. Manager should find a better approach with his employees, I get being stressed in certain situations however your employees deserve better. Aside from the manager the food and atmosphere are good.

You can't slap a label that says gluten free and dairy free and then add a giant piece of bread, cheese, and croutons.... Lost my trust. Gluten allergies beware.

Love Urban Legends lates!! This location is close to shopping and we stopped by to get quick dinner.
