👍 In general, Rudy’s Taco Shop is excellent - really good flavor, nice tacos and fast. Location is super convenient and the food was great. Only a few broken hard shells in transit - everything else survived. People often mention tacos,

San Diego Taco Series, Part 10 Rookie hazing. Boy has popular culture shifted on that topic in my lifetime. While it used to be overlooked in the past, it is now widely discouraged within the mainstream. However, that does not mean that it no longer occurs. Take this evening as an example. It sure seemed to me that these young officers were “delegated” the duty of retrieving food for the benefit of others. I sure hope that the location they were dispatched to was determined by those “others.” I say that because the tacos here were…ok. Crispy tacos, soft tacos, rolled tacos. Fish tacos, chicken tacos, carnitas tacos. Their collective rap sheets bore a similar verdict…average. It wasn’t that they were bad, they just wouldn’t stand out if asked to appear in a “lineup” of other tacos. I sure hope that the “rooks” on duty didn’t select this location of their own volition. If they were found guilty of that offense, I fear they’ll be sentenced to additional “hard” time until their seniority is elevated in comparison to the next gen. And that’s…Henry’s Take. Very disappointed. My wife picked up lunch for our family, the chicken quesadilla is all chicken. The “queso” is missing from the situation (don’t get me wrong, there is cheese, just very sparse). If you’re going to charge premium prices, you better provide a premium product. DO BETTER.

Foods ok, but there is plenty of nearby competition with superior options. Seems like every time I go here, even at lunch, its a bother to them. Don’t call within an hour of them closing at 8 or they’ll tell you they’re in a hurry to close. They are almost as bad as the shoe repair folks around here. I’d rather drive down to Cancun where the food is better, hours aren’t geriatric, and the business is appreciated.

We traveled so far and had heard so many good things about the Mexican food in SoCal. After searching online we found Rudy's and were so excited! We ran over and got a mix of items, but was a little blown away by the price. For a family of 4 it was $80. 6 street tacos, a combo meal of two tacos, two crispy tacos, super nachos and a 4 drinks. the drink machine had no ice, half the sodas were just carbonation. Got back to the hotel to dig in and we were immediately disappointed because the food had absolutely no flavor. Absolutely none. My daughter only ate the lettuce off her tacos, the carne asada just tasted like the most plain steak with absolutely no seasoning, the tortillas were store bought and barely microwaved warm, the pastor had a weird soapy taste and the nachos barely had cheese. We ended up just throwing it all away and snacking on our travel food. From a Tejana, it was just disappointing.

I usually go to Rudy's at least three times a week. It's a legit hole-in-the-wall Mexican place where everything on the menu is great. The carne vampiro tacos with fried cheese are simple but amazing. The California burrito is one of the best anywhere. The chicken mole plate or burrito is to die for if you're a mole fan. And don't leave without getting the ceviche. It's made daily and just spicy enough with fresh shrimp and cilantro. The refried beans and rice are exactly what you want. People from out of town come to Rudy's from the Omni La Costa resort next door because of its reputation. Support great local businesses! ☀️🌵🌮🌯
