Beautiful place... Pet friendly and really really big. There's a lot to see and walk inside. Also, if you want to taste a delicious local wine it's possible. In resume, I'd visit it again. If you are looking for a place to have a good time with family/friends/couple, this is it.

What a spectacular Asian and African themed garden. Different from anything that i know in Portugal. Impressive layout of paths leading from one theme to another. Pertains to Quinta da Bacalhôa so they have a nice shop to purchase wine. They normally do not allow dogs but made an acception for this visit. I highly recommend this garden.

90 acres of muesum quality sculptures, massive exhibits, and beautiful landscaping. Wear good walking shoes. The layout and amount to see is beyond what we expected. Great value for only 5 euros. Worth the visit!

I loved it! Really cheap entrance (only 6 euros). The garden is massive and took me a few hours to walk through everything. There is nice restaurant by the entrance ( u pay around 18 euro per person and it includes dessert, coffee, soft or alcoholic drink, main meal of your choice and salad).

It's such an amazing place. Definitely need not less than two hours to indulge in nature and the sculptures available. So quiet and peaceful. Entrance fees are 6 €. You can additional 6€ for bus tour instead of walking . A map is available at the location to navigate through. The place requires private transportation or arranged tour. No public transportation in the are.

It has many, many great sculptures in both stone and metal art forms. We really enjoyed it and will return again. My only complaint is that there is a bit of a mixture of cultures as at the entry area there is a Roman influence and then there is a large area devoted to Africa and then the Buddha area but it's only described as the Buddha Eden gardens. I think the Roman statue area should be removed and the garden divided by vegetation into the African area and the Buddha area as that would make sense. I would like to see more foliage in the Buddha area with corner to allow meditation with trickling streams and seating. At present, the Buddha area is in a vast open expanse of land which doesn't seem appropriate to me. Overall a good place to visit and take a multitude of photos of the amazing sculptures.

5 hours was not enough to enjoy it to the fullest! It's an incredible place, there's a lot to see, lots of places (and things) to take pictures, a lot to learn, and the history of the garden is amazing. Will definitely go back soon!

Amazing experience! the place is very beautiful, the garden is extremely well maintained, and there is a train on site to help transport those who have difficulty walking around the park, excellent for accessibility. the atmosphere evokes peace, with good restaurants, a wine shop at the exit, and many free parking spaces.

I though this was going to be stupid, but ended up being my best experience by far in Portugal. It's amazingly beautiful garden with so many unique statue gardens, like I haven't experienced before. Background info: the garden was started in 2006 by a private individual for collecting art. The emphasis is on appreciation of art, tradition, and religion, rather than religion itself. It is primarily Buddha statues in response to the Chinese Cultural Revolution, where many Buddhist temples, monasteries, and artifacts were destroyed between 1966 and 1976.

If you're in this area, this place is very recommendable to visit. Admittance is €5 for an adult but worth it. Take some time (2-4 hours) to absorb all the impressions. The park is well maintained and full of art sculptures and Buddhist sculptures. Also impressive are the two blue terracotta armies. Very nice are the iron animals made out of old oil barrels and scrap metal. The park is filled with beautiful plants and trees. There is also a trail in a bamboo forest. The pictures speak for themselves. Very recommendable.

Stunning. Totally recommend visiting if you're I'm the area. If you visit in the summer months, make sure you get a ticket that includes a train ride as walking all of that in the heat would be dreadful. It can be expensive €12 entry + €12 for the train per person, but it's worth it, and I imagine they also spend a lot on maintaining the park - it was clean and in pristine condition. We walked through various areas and very much enjoyed it all, including the African section. We also stopped for an ice cream for the kiddos and sangria for the ladies ;) - they were the size of a fish bowl.

Huge place that has a variety of art, animals and vegetation, palm trees, bamboo shoot paths and local trees. Large bodies of water with picturesque views all over. They even have a great wine shop with many just 3 euros. Lots of snack bars and washrooms around also great shady areas. Only 6 euros to get in lots of walking but tons of are all around. U could grab a train as well for an additional 6-8 euors(I don’t remember) but I walked it with no issues. A must if u are close by to the region.

We had a great experience. The gardens are amazing, and we loved wandering through the new Africa section. The sculptures themselves are amazing, and their placement is also well thought. The only downsides (which were minor) are that 1) was not clear that the train ticket option was not a classic hop on hop off, but rather you have to hop in where you left and if you hop off on the last stop you cant hop back in; 2) the cafe near stop 3 should have had a recycling bin (even if just for cans) and fresher food items (the chorizo bread we had was a bit stale, which for the price we paid should not have been). Again, we had a great time and would definetly come back

5 bucks is nothing for this experience. Plan for 4-5 hours, very comfortable shoes, as this place is huge and you will not want to miss none of it. 100% recommendation!

Beautiful garden filled with breathtaking sculptures of various traditions as well as modern art sculptures. The price is fair, and we spent 2 hours looking at the plants and sculptures in the park. The staff are friendly and spoke English with us, we will definitely be visiting there again.

Visit several times and each time it gets bigger and better. Very well maintain park, with beautiful statues, sculptures and buildings. Would suggest more options in the new added café, maybe because out of season period but choices was limited.

An amazing park, Buddha Eden has hundreds of statues, from a gigantic recling Buddha and dozens of other gods and mystical beings. There are also a whole lot of metal and stone carvings and statues. Well worth a visit.

Incredibly beautiful, peaceful place. Very reasonable price both to enter, and for the train around the huge park (necessary as my mother struggles with mobility). Lunch was excellent, and very reasonably priced, too. Will go back.

Big garden with ton of art and walking paths where you can easily spend several hours. Some parts are hilly but there is a train service with three predefined stops. It’s costs 6€ in addition to admission fee but not that it can get packed. There are some kiosks inside where you can get some drinks but note they are on the expensive side. On the way out you can get some wine reasonably priced on their store. Try out their white sangria if you go there on the summer

I went there for vacation and my friends brought me there, needless to say the site was beautiful and was perfect to take a little walk. The monuments was pretty nice and mixed well with the landscape. I think that it’s a nice place to take you children if have the chance.

Good value as a visit. We went as a family and had a train ride and walked all around very beautiful well maintained gardens. So many amazing sculptures with a variety of subjects not just Buddhism. Beautiful lakes, koi and turtles too. Well worth a visit.

This is heaven on earth and and a must stop anywhere you are within an hour. I’m not sure of the history of this place and it’s MASSIVE! Expect to spend most of the day here enjoying the grounds and statues.

This place will make you go: " how the hell did this happen? In the middle of nowhere?" As you explore the property and the wonderful Asian and other artistic inspired sculptures, you will absolutely fall in love with the peaceful surroundings and the involving nature that surrounds the whole thing. Plus the souvenir shop has tons of wine ...so yeah..GO THERE if you happen to be in the area!!

Very very large garden. The statues are great (and big). The huge Buddha's are impressive. I really did like the terracotta armies and it's renovation. In high season it was for not too crowded. Really excellent.

That incredible place that everyone should visit in Portugal. Easy to find, there is no preparation and you need to pay the entrance fee – not expensive. You can choose to walk or use the train. I recommend using it because the place is huge and you can stop in specific places, walk a little, take photos and catch the train again to move on. On the way out, you pass by a convenience store and can buy wines at a great cost. Have a good trip!

We had a lovely day here, you need a good 3hrs to walk around the garden's, the restaurant was very good service was excellent and the food very good ,18euros each, but that was salad, bread, main course with rice and chips, dessert, wine or coke, and coffee, fantastic great value for money, the gardens are so well looked after and it was only 6euros per person 👍😄 the toilet's are spotless , the park is dog friendly , would recommend

The Bacalhôa Buddha Eden is located in the city of Bombarral, about 80km from Lisbon, 1 hour by car. Reserve about 2 hours for the visit, if you go with small children, it is better to take a stroller as they will get tired, it is a walk for any age, if you go on very sunny days, do not forget the sunscreen and to take water. There are several paths to do within this location, don't worry which one is right to start, exploration is part of this tour, explore the paths and go to all of them if your legs can handle it, guaranteed in each of these paths you will have beautiful surprises. There are two places for lunch on site, one at the entrance and the other in the middle of the park in front of the lakes. It is an unmissable tour and worthy of many beautiful photos. For wheelchairs, I recommend using a motorized one, as the path is long and there are many descents and ascents, but you can enjoy it for about 90% of the tour, as there are always alternative ways to reach places with stairs. Have a good trip!

A really special gorgeous, place. As a South African I just loved the incorporation of the stone art in the maze as well as the mass display of metal art, and the colossal Buddha's were magnificent. The garden itself is very well thought out and planned with a clever mix of local and imported plants that are low maintenance. Great place.

The Buddha Eden gardens have to be some of the most peculiar places that I have ever seen. The gardens are huge, and they set the stage for a gigantic open-air art exhibition, with sculptures crafted by some well-known artists. And that for an entrance fee of only five euro. For an additional price, you can ride aboard a touristic train over the garden's streets. At the exit there is a souvenir store with a wide variety of affordable, local wine. I visited the gardens for only three hours, but I could have easily spent a whole weekend there.

Stunning beautifully manicured gardens with an array of Asian, African and modern art sculptures. It’s really is a sight to behold and totally exceeded my expectations. Make sure you set aside the whole day to explore the gardens as they are huge.

Amazing park! Wonderful to walk around and admire the art. There are almost no explanations, therefore a map with text may be useful, I forgot to ask for one. The restaurant offers a reasonable buffet choice, if you are not a vegetarian… The shop at the end is a good place to buy good wine. After all, the owner is a great player in the wine business.

It was a great experience to visit an Asian park in Portugal. The park is vast and well maintained. During the visit, you can see big statues of Buddha or Terracotta Army. I recommend it!

Simply STUNNING 💚 I got there at opening time & had the garden to myself for the first hour. Absolute bargain at €5. I find it astounding that some reviews think the train is expensive at €4 when it does a circuit of the entire garden allowing you to hop on & off. Total cost for adult entry +train €9 a "BARGAIN"

Every time i visit this awesome garden new surprises awaiting me, this is one of the most extraordinary gardens i have ever been, full of thematic little places inside, from Asia to Africa you will find a collection of statues, bronze and iron animals and characters so diverse that you wont believe your eyes. Absolutely worth a visit!

I highly recommend visiting these gardens, they are absolutely gorgeous! We took their little train which is a great way to see the grounds and very relaxing. We sat at the little outdoor café and had a huge glass of sangria. Then on the way out we purchased a few bottles of their excellent wine. We will definitely return!

  • 5/5 David J. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing ! 5€ the entrance, dogs friendly except for the train (4€/person). Honestly I can’t believe the prices. It’s just nothing if you compare the beauty and the immensity of this place. You can scan a QR code and get the map on your telephone. Perfect place !
