This is our second stay at the beautiful Casa Vela Hotel. We love the friendly service of all the staff and the well equipped rooms. Everything is always very clean and tidy. Fantastic location to the beach, shopping and Cascais Marina. Good selection for breakfast. Lush gardens with deck chairs offer a tranquil place to relax. There are also two pools if you fancy a swim and the highlight of our stay is the most adorable “Queen of the Castle” - Mia the hotel cat.

Nice room, hard as a rock bed and very noisy. Dogs barking all the time in the room next door plus construction and doors slamming. Was rough sleeping. Short walk about 10 minutes to center of old town. The staff was really nice and great amenities. Honestly I think we just had bad luck of the draw aside from rough mattress otherwise would of given 3 stars.

This may be the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in! The exquisite gardens alone are well worth a trip. We were tempted to just stay at the hotel to enjoy the gorgeous and peaceful grounds instead of exploring the Cascais area. It felt like visiting a botanical garden with lots of quiet nooks and crannies to surprise, get lost in, and enjoy. A very peaceful and quiet refuge that offers solace for the soul. The hotel is tastefully and beautifully appointed. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. A great selection of free welcome drinks was much appreciated. The entire establishment is well and efficiently run. Among the staff, Nuno was especially friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I hardly ever write reviews, but Casa Vela was truly an outstanding experience!

Wonderful location in beautiful Cascais. Very walkable area near fantastic parks and marina. Street parking was doable but required lots of coins. Double-pane windows reduced the sound of neighborhood dogs. Pool and garden area are beautiful and rare in this urban area.

Great hotel. Was not expecting for it to be as beautiful as it was - I didn’t want to leave! Walking distance to the marina, yet tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood. Hope to come back!

Perfect location. Easy to walk to the coastal walkway and into downtown. Relaxing and beautiful hotel. Opt in for the breakfast. So delicious!

A Great little hotel in a quiet location surrounded by lush gardens. The breakfast is great for the price. You can't go wrong with this hidden gem.

This is a very special place. The unique garden, with various levels, fountains, and an amazing variety of plants and (big) trees makes you feel on an island isolated from the city. You almost don't see the other houses and buildings surrounding. The interior of the villa is beautifully furnished, with a tasteful antique and modern combination. Super cosy to have a drink and read. The room (30), kind of bungalow in the garden also was high end, comfortable and well equipped. Friendly staff, quality breakfast.

This place is amazing! So cozy and comfortable. Super friendly stuff, beautiful garden, big pool, big terrace, comfortable beds. Very authentic room design. We just loved the place! I am sure that during summer this place is precious.

I stayed at Casa Vela for 6 nights; first in a Jr Double room (not terrible but the bed wasn't comfortable for me), then I transferred to an Exclusive Superior Double. It is off-season, so I was able to view a few options and select the one I liked most. Spent 5 nights in #29, Tangerine, and I absolutely loved it! So private even though you're in a glass jewel box of a room. It's kind of like being inside a terrarium (in the best way), surrounded by greenery and rocks! Lovely balcony overlooking the gardens. Rock walls behind the bed and in the bathroom. There are a fair amount of stairs and inclines leading to the room but very doable and fortunately not too slippery when raining. The smaller of the two pools on property is about 6 steps from the door of this unit (though no one used it during my late November stay). The room felt spacious and the staff - all of them - from the front desk staff, to the cleaning staff to those helping with morning breakfast service - were just great! The gardens have so many vistas to be discovered - they really are super special and inviting (not easily captured in photos). The entire property is very well managed and taken care of. It's an easy walk into the center of Cascais (maybe 10 min) and Bolt is super affordable (around 3.50 euros) if you get tired and prefer to get a ride back to Casa Vela. The neighborhood in which this guest house is located is super peaceful and charming. Absolutely a wonderful choice for your stay in Cascais!

I made a reservation by mistake for our honeymoon and I immediately called to cancel it and apologized but they charged me for the first night!! This is how this hotel will take 180€ from you in few minutes!! I have never seen such behavior and lack of ethics! Please share and let’s make them be honest and give us back our money! Thank you guys

A really nice place to stay in Cascais. Our room was great, overlooking one of the swimming pools and the gardens here are beautiful. Breakfast is varied and plentiful.

We just returned home from the fourth stay at Casa Vela. Again, this was a wonderful experience. Beautiful, modern and spacious rooms (this time we stayed in the garden house). The staff always friendly and the management very customer oriented when dealing with difficult situations (forced delayed arrival due to strike). Breakfast outstanding, best fresh self-pressed orange juice ever! But also nice small "pasteis de nata" and a wide variety of fresh fruits. Cooked breakfast with changing plates every day. Very good coffee, capuccino, espresso, latte etc. from the machine. The garden is enchanting! Take some time to have a look! All-in-all, a totally quiet location in a nice residential area. Restaurants, the museum center (Paula Rego! and others) and Cascais centre a few minutes away by foot.

Casa vela is a glorious oasis! Spent two days here after a busy few days celebrating with large group of friends in lisbon and really couldn't have asked for more! I booked because of the lovely looking gardens, and they didn't disappoint! Luscious greenery in little pockets around the grounds, waterfalls and beautiful flowers, it was so relaxing and well laid out, didn't feel on top of other guests at all, felt like our our little villa! Perfect if sandy beaches are not your thing! Rooms lovely , beds comfy, pool a bit nippy in late april . Breakfast buffet had great selection and hot drink machine free throughout our stay. Hot chocolate was actually lovely. Nice touch with honesty bar and free cake and fruit available. Staff very friendly, resident 3 legged cat Mia, strolls the grounds , keeping a check on the frogs and ducks! Location is brilliant, less than 10 mins to restaurants, Paula Rego museum and the lovely park. Looking forward to booking again at Casa Vela in the future 10/10.

Great location, just 10 minutes walking to the beautiful center of Cascais. Friendly staff and very helpful with info about restaurants and parking. The room was beautiful, had a balcony, good shower and good bed. Would recommend this hotel, also pet friendly. Parking is possible on the street right in front of the hotel, pay with coins at the machine (€11 for a whole day).

What a lucky find! Location is ideal for the centre of Cascais, far enough away to be away from the hoards of tourists around for Easter weekend, area felt safe to wander around by yourself. Originally, this was a solo holiday and after plans changing twice, Casa Vela accommodated our changes easily and upgrading us even though it was our plans that had changed. Photos don’t do the rooms justice, ample space for the two of us and private balcony’s with beds and seating for relaxation in the day, as well as beautiful gardens and pool to use. Beds were extremely comfy and slept so well. Breakfast was ample, lots of choice for a small guesthouse with free tasty cake. There was an honesty tab if you wanted to have a drink or snack in the day or evening, which we did every night. As previous review says there is building work going on nearby currently, it’s out of the control of Casa Vela and cannot predict when this happens. You will soon zone out the noise. We sunbathed one day by the pool and it didn’t affect us at all. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and always made time to chat and check we were okay. Like to call out the Manager endlessly finding us a hotel reservation and João for checking on us at the end of the day when we’d relax in the communal area. I’d recommend to anyone, yet want to keep it hidden as a secret gem.

I had an excellent stay. The staff were supremely helpful and courteous, the indoor and outdoor spaces the hotel offered were spectacular, and the breakfast was well worth it. They also had stand-by cake in the afternoons, and a nice cat roaming around.

Fantastic stay! Jean Paul greeted us at check-in with a private tour of the property. Our stay was absolutely wonderful with beautiful views of the gardens and pools from our suite. Breakfast was delicious, and we will definitely be back!

A hidden treasure! The risk is that you might miss Cascais because when entering the botanical garden you just don’t want to leave again.. We had a fantastic room, the breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and pastries. Very friendly staff and a calm atmosphere. We definitely have to come back again!

Would recommend this hotel/guest house immediately for everyone who travels to Cascais. Very friendly staff at check-in. When we asked about restaurant tips, he assigned us several local restaurants. And so delicious food we had there. Our stay was short but if we come back we would definitely stay here again! Also nice to know .. parking is easy at the residence! and the center of Cascais at 10 minutes walking distance.

A hidden gem with a beautiful tranquil garden and friendly staff. We felt home immidiately and enjoyed the calmness and beauty of the place, which is located within a short walking distance to Cascais old town and the sea.
