Unfortunately we weren't big fans of this restaurant. A dish does not suddenly get sophisticated just because you mix some "Asiatic" features (and I'm very used to Japanese/fusion cuisine). Our "Ramen a Bologna" was such a weird mix that didn't work together at all. Their wine list was again rather disappointing.

An absolute disaster is probably the most fair and accurate description of the “service” we got here. We had a 9pm reservation, arrived a few minutes early and were seated shortly after, ready to enjoy the full experience. After waiting a long time, having watched the couple seated after us giving their order, it was finally our turn. 40 minutes later the appetizer was served, but our wine was forgotten. The server apologized but we never got any wine. The lamp on our table went out and was changed two times. Given the darkness of the room we could not see the food or each other. After the lamp went out for a third time, having waited for an hour in total, with still no wine in our glasses, we decided to leave. We paid for the starters of course, which in fairness tasted quite well, unfortunately we could not see them in the dark. Maybe it was just a bad night, and we were unlucky, but certainly cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Wow - this place is unbelievable. An exquisite execution of tradition and innovation at a reasonable price and with a great ambiance. We had the meatloaf (trust me on this) and tortellini to start and both were sublime. For secondi, we had the bolognese chop. Have to say that although the flavours were rich and powerful, this dish fell a little flat for me. It felt quite heavy and unrefined compared to everything else we had. Worth trying but I would split it among 2. Overall, an excellent experience and I will happily come back over and over!

Great food experience. Food was delicious and so was the wine. The service is outstanding, bravo! Menu is reduced so everything is fresh and you find traditional dishes presented in an elegant way. Only minus, the ragù was not enough on the pasta for my personal taste, but the pasta itself was very good. 👌🏻

One of the highlights on our Bologna trip 🇮🇹 From the start you feel the passion in the people at Oltre. They love food and they want you to have a good time. The menu is delicious and they can even commodate glutenfree alternatives. Their regú is exceptional. Also a shout-out to their bartender and sommelier. They did Such a fine job in making it an experience to remember. And a funny little detail was they had Street Fighter in the basement 🔥

Run here, don’t walk! My partner and I had an amazing dining experience here. I have no idea why there are such mixed reviews. The ambience is a mix of elegant and casual, giving it a fine dining experience but also laidback. All 4 staff members we had interactions with were lovely. A special shout-out to Luca, he was awesome! The food is flavoursome and creative, especially the ratatouille dish, yum! Don’t skip the desserts, the snickers was to die for! I highly recommend visiting if a modern take on classic dishes is for you!

A fantastic experience. The place is minimalistic and creates a nice atmosphere. The staff is very professional and they have a superb sommelier who is very knowledgeable. We took the menu with whine pairing. The food was unbelievably good. A must visit when in town!

In Bologna for two days so this was a last minute reservation. They did have space opposite the bar with normal table. Laurenzo that was our host was amazing with everything. From introducing us to the restaurants concept, prepping us the most delicious cocktails and explaining the alignment between kitchen and bar. All dishes were traditional and very tasty. Price was more than fair for 4 dishes and 5 cocktails. Moreover even though restaurant does not seem kids friendly, our 11 year old daughter that was with us found her meal and non alcoholic cocktail in an sec as she felt also very welcome. Recommended!

Dined in around 9 pm without a reservation. Bar seat. Servers and the bartender were all attentive. Great and interesting (in a good way) wine menu and a friendly and knowledgeable somm. I had the pasta and the pigeon dish. My favorite was the pigeon. Perfectly cooked, very tender and full of flavor. Wine pours were a tad bit less than my expectation for glass wines. Just get a bottle.

Went to Oltre which is very different from the many trattorias and osterias that you find in Bologna. The atmosphere is really cool, the cocktails we had were great. However, we ordered two mains (secondi) that were not so great, my dish was missing the chickpeas (which I later confirmed with the waiter), and the fish had no flavour, it was served only with broth and vegs so I'd hope it to be tastier, maybe the chickpeas made all the difference. My boyfriend ordered the veal bolognese and it was soggy, he just had had it a couple of nights begore in another place and just wasn't as good. The desserts were very good but still felt disappointed with the mains.

In my short stay in Bologna, Oltre was the absolute culinary highlight. Although limited vegetarian choices on the menu, the staff and kitchen were more than accommodating to improvise some delicious dishes. Cocktails are fantastic, wine was also very good. The restaurant has a great vibe, modern and young but still classy.

Amazing experience, worth every penny twice over. The staff is wonderful and speaks good English and every time we finished our course the next one was not far away. The dishes were a great show of Italian cuisine and produce and the drink pairings were amazing (especially the wine with the frog label, so if someone knows which brand that is I would be a happy man). The place is very trendy and has a great minimalist decor. The lighting makes every table feel like an own room and the noises of other tables are hardly noticeable.

One of our top highlights in Bologna (where the culinary standards are already very high) was Oltre. We really thought it was everything that we look for when deciding where to eat in a new city: beautiful interior with high-quality finishes, an informal and modern, yet very elegant service, a stimulating wine list, and above all absolutely delicious food. Among the more modern restaurants in Bologna, Oltre is definitely the best! And if that weren't already enough, the cocktail area in the entrance is superb as well, with a super-knowledgable barman... To put it simply: We can't wait to return

Good food, drinks and ambience. Tortellini and veal chop were excellent. Dessert was ok. Expect 75 euros per person.

Where to start? The staff here is super friendly, the interior is awesome, and the food is delicious. And don’t even get me started on the cocktails, they are amazing! This is simple, highly recommended!

The cocktail Negroni was interesting and wines were good. Tortellini was interesting as it was different from what we had in the town. However, I would definitely suggest dessert to be changed or improved. Also Tagliatelle Ragu - beef had a very smoky taste, which was not normal for this kind of food. Probably they were too late to take away minced beef from the oven. :) I had a feeling that the restaurant was earlier good but the quality highly decreased. We believe that the kitchen and waiters could do better job. Thanks.

Best Parmesan tortellini of my life. Raghu bolognese is also excellent. Also had the Cottoletto Bolognese, great. They do encourage to order cocktails. They are very good, but of course after 4 of them @ 12€ a piece it’ll make up 50% of your bill ;)

Staff were brilliant and the food was very good. Knowledgeable sommelier for the wine pairing with the set menus we chose despite not being advertised as an option in the menu; he was clearly rushed off his feet so some of the pairings were late, but it was very well chosen. Overall a very enjoyable evening in a trendy setting - would recommend and return.

Delightful 7 course vegetarian lunch- great show case of Italien ingredients in a creative way. Wonderful laid back friendly service. Not pretentious at all. Delicious wines

Everything about this restaurant is first class. Interesting interior, upbeat waitstaff that are friendly and can speak English. Innovative dishes prepared and displayed on the plate beautifully great wine pairings. Easily one of my top 3-4 food experiences of my life. I would consider myself silly if i we're going to be near Bologna and not go again. In fact, i was staying in Firenze and took a train to do just that. Entrance can be hard to find.

A truly memorable meal. Excellent value for money with really friendly staff. They catered to our vegetarian needs with adaptations to the Heritage Menu. Having food with extremely low travel miles is important to us and to have that food deliciously prepared in a brilliant atmosphere was ideal. The meal was much cheaper than equivalents I’ve been to in the UK. Excellent additional cocktail and the best cappuccino I had in Italy! The staff spoke excellent English and communicated the dishes well. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or just for a really good time.

Food was good but it was not a great dining experience. We opted for the Oltre 7-course tasting (chef’s journey) and it ended up being a 4-hour dinner! I’m all for Italian pacing for meals but something was definitely up with the kitchen. The couple that got seated next to us (that sat down 30 minutes after us) eventually finished their tasting at the same time. Looking at the time stamps of my photos, it was around 40 minutes between the 2nd and 3rd course. Unfortunately also no acknowledgment / mitigation by the staff until we let them know when we were paying. Very disappointing as this was a highly anticipated meal of the trip.
