Love the place. The landscape and the turtles are amazing. You can clearly see that they love them and care about them. If you want to eat somenthing inside there, you have an open restaurant facing the ocean with a breathtaking view. You will not regret the experience.

Very nice tour and guide was very informative and educational. Infrastructure was all in good shape and tidy. My godchild went for a educational tour and simply adored it as she had so many activities lined up.

Not what we expected. The foundation markets itself as a sanctuary for the protection and preservation of the turtles, but is really more like a zoo. We hoped for a research-lead project, helping injured turtles and teaching about their breading and migration patterns etc. But the commercial focus is clear. It feels very exploitative. We videoed some of the turtles that are kept in the pools contained within the organisation's confines. They clearly want to leave. Not surprising given that these turtles swim thousands of miles across continents in their natural habitats, but here are confined in a small pool. We asked why they kept the turtles here in this way when they weren't injured or anything. Their response wasn’t persuasive - apparently they’re there for research projects to understand more about their "natural feeding and procreation habits". But how can they understand that if they’re kept in an unnatural environment? When asked if they'd ever be released, they answered "maybe one day"... Not encouraging for an animal that can live upwards of 100 years.

I cannot expressed how much we enjoyed this place, it was raining, and we have so much fun with the kids that we didn't care! It's a beautiful project, with a real cause that makes you feel like that they are really making a difference in this world. My kids, a toddler and a 6 year old boy were amazed as we. A must for travelers, a must for kids and the human kind.

The Tamar Project does such fantastic work in protecting the marine turtles, that you absolutely have to love and support this place. The place itself is not very big, and you can walk through the whole area in 30 minutes or so. But you do get to learn a lot, and seeing the turtles is an amazing experience. It's also located in a beautiful area by some of the most beautiful beaches. After going here, you definitely have to go to the beaches and enjoy the natural wonders. If you're lucky, you can even see the turtles in the wild.

A must see place. I love the location (right on the beach). We were able to start early in the morning take a break for lunch in side the Tamar project there is small food area. There is so much to learn in this on place. You are able to see the actual size of each turtle and compare to your own height. So many pools of turtles. One thing we didnt know is that you are contact them in advance and spend the day as a biologist. a good place for kids of all ages. I really enjoy this place.

It's a chill thing to do, you see some big and small turtles and some other marine life. It's for a good cause too, so it's all good. 28 reais per person to enter.

We were impressed by their respect for turtles and nature. We can see a lot of turtles and also several fishes, a ray and a shark.

The best part of it is that you're helping the project by just going there. There you can see turtles ( of course), sharks and other sea animals. The visit is quite short, and there isn't a big amount of things to see. You can buy the entrance ticket there for R$ 26,00. If you are student, there is a discount of 50%.

the place is very beautiful and full of beautiful animals I loved seeing them, especially the shark that looked very close to me, but I found and wanted to swim with some fish and I couldn't, that was frustrating but the rest was very good

I like what they're doing and what they stand for. I guess they need to have to have a front of house so show everyone their good actions. It felt a little like an aquarium to me. I hope those sharks, manta rays and turtles are in there just temporarily.

What an incredible place. So cool to see how the turtles are taken care of inside the institute so that the ones who live in the ocean can benefit from better treatment as well. Amazing ♥️♥️

Great conservation project, beautiful displays and signage with a lot of educational content. Great for children and adults alike. The only disappointing thing was to see the amount of rubbish floating around the nearby beach, contradicting so much of the message which the project stands for.

  • 4/5 Dominique L. 8 months ago on Google
Worth visiting, this project shows great samples of turtles and a few other species, in a splendid space almost on the beach of Praia do Forte. Some explanations in English about turtles and the overall project would be very useful for foreign visitors!

  • 5/5 Myriam L. 7 months ago on Google
Fun outdoor activity to do with kids (free under 5)! Employees are kind, always available to explain or help. Fun way to learn about turtles. There are also sharks and rays to see. The gift shop is nice too :) For people with babies, please note that there are 2 bathrooms on the site, but only one that is baby friendly. It's the one located at the entrance of the park where you pay your ticket. Enjoy :)

It is definitely a place worth visiting. You can admire turtles of different sizes, from tiny hatchlings to enormous old turtles. While they offer guided tours, unfortunately, these tours are not available in English, and not all exhibit descriptions have English translations. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the visit.

  • 4/5 Mark P. 6 months ago on Google
Lots of interesting information. There is a need for guides along the way but none were provided. We could have used more information and this would have generated a more engaging experience. Great to see how the project works and it certainly is an excellent initiative.

  • 4/5 I S. 4 months ago on Google
It was wonderful to visit the Tamar Marine and learn more about the amazing work they do with turtles. It's certainly a place for family and people of all ages, well worth the visit. The most disappointing part is that there are no signs in English or any other languages except for Portuguese, so if you are a non-portuguese speaker this place is not for you, as your experience and enjoyment will be very limited, which is a shame. This is the main attraction in this region but the lack of signs in english, Spanish or any other languages shows that, although, they claim to be prepared for tourists, they're not.

(Translated by Google) The project is of great value for marine life, we can get a sense of how much the environment around us needs attention, and the work done by the foundation helps to prevent the extinction of many species. A curiosity I learned is about how magical turtles are, they are born in a place, they cross the ocean and after all their life cycle they return to their birthplace to die. How are they aware of the location? A natureza é linda.❤️

Large turtles swimming in captive circles. Avoid the cafe, or place an order at your peril. They seem to be doing everything possible to fleece customers. Check your bill very closely. Don't expect apologies when you find you've been charged for items you didn't order.

Nice environmental project. Their compromise with their goal is immediately noticeable if one look around how many turtle nest are being tracked and taking care of. A must go.

It's cheep and very nice (R$20). A lot pools with marine animals (turtles, sharks, stingrays, fish..), . Ask for the to "Yellow Submarine". A tour about the life on deep oceans. Very nice. They also have a nice restaurant inside of the park with a very fair price.

Tamar is a great place to visit, it is definitely a must go. Even if you know everything about Sea Turtles, it is not just about it. Tamar shows what they do to avoid Sea Turtles extinction, the last generation of turtle is three times bigger than the previous, so the project is working very well. I recommend you to arrive early because there are few activities and their particular schedule. Your stamp gives you the allowance to get out and come back later on. From inside you have an awesome view of "Praia do Forte" and its rocks . Have fun and don't forget your sunscreen.

I appreciate that this enterprise allows people access to and views of turtles and rays that would normally not be easily possible. However it does have the feel of a theme park. In addition having a touch pool for rays may be good for custom but not necessarily good for the Ray. In particular at busy times they looked stressed at constant attention. Turtles in relatively small pools seemed to be demonstrating typical 'pacing' back and forth ( in water of course) often seen in zoos with big cats. The money raised by entrance fee is likely very useful for protection and monitoring projects but not at cost to 'performing turtles'.

(Translated by Google) The Project's proposal is interesting, it is a good place to take children and make them aware of environmental education, but the space still needs more care and improvements. I don't know how the treatment dynamics of animals work, but they stay in small tanks and the impression is that they are stressed in that place. (They flap their fins around the edges of the pool, swimming in circles). The lighthouse, which could be an interesting place for visitors to climb and enjoy the view, is closed. The store is an absurd price, EVERYTHING is expensive, a simple keychain costing R $ 39.00 is not normal, it is abusive.
