Great suburban park on the South side of Cedar Falls near the industrial park with paved trails looping around the bigger of the two Prairie Lakes, and along two sides of the smaller lake. Many benches along the paved trails provide opportunity to take a break from walking, running, riding, skiing etc, or just to watch the nature and enjoy the peaceful lakes. Many fishermen utilize both lakes to cast their lines in the warmer months and ice fishing in the winter. Kayakers can often be seen on the larger lake as well. Four workout stations dot the perimeter of the larger lake along the paved trails to offer opportunities to do some body weight exercises. Sign boards are posted to help provide ideas for exercises. There is a dock on each end of the larger lake, and the Southern one has a nearby covered picnic shelter with a paved offshoot from the main paved trails for easy access (by foot or bike, the parking lot is on the other side of the lake). The paved trails also connect to the rest of the greater Cedar Valley paved trails system for easy access.

Although the park itself was clean and enjoyable, the restrooms leave much to be desired! There is no roof or doors for privacy and no where to wash or sanitize your hands. There were a lot of neat things within the park and a great little walking trail with a few geocaches along the way. The restrooms were the only negative I had about this park.

I like this park a lot and it has some nice scenery. Unfortunately, for a cyclist like me, there are a few downsides. First, it is impossible to read the gauge on the bike tire air pump due to the weathering and sun damage. Secondly, some of the path has a pot holes and root damage, not a lot but right where the cyclists need to ride.

It's a decent small town lake. It looks man made to me but is frequented daily so there must be a good amount of fish stocked every year. I spent the morning trying for crappie and bass but didn't have any luck. The group next to me caught a couple average size bass. I'll come again in the future!

The park is a wonderful place to walk and enjoy the scenery. However there is one important thing that needs a great improvement to make this area more attractive to young children who enjoy walking with their parents. The public restrooms are horrible and need to be cleaned up or closed . What is the purpose of having a restroom if is not useable?
