Nice old ruins, ideal for a quick stop as you can do it all in 15 mins, obviously longer if taking plenty of photos. I had the place to myself so nice leisurely half hour or so. The road leading up to the Castle is more of a farm track and is liable to flood and has many potholes so not suitable for all vehicles.

Convenient parking adjacent to the castle ruins. Grass and weeds in need of a trim. Nice information board on site and tried to imagine what the structure was like in its heyday. Beautiful seeing the aeroplanes take off and land at the nearby Luton London Airport airfield 🛫✈️

Someries Castle is a Scheduled Ancient Monument in the Parish of Hyde, near the town of Luton, Bedfordshire, England. It was built in the 15th century by Sir John Wenlock, whose ghost is reputed to haunt the castle. Although always referred to as a castle, it was actually a fortified manor house. The name "Someries Castle" is derived from William de Someries (or Somerys), who had a residence on this site, but the title "castle" is contentious since it hardly describes the structure to which it is applied. The site was acquired by Wenlock in 1430 and building the mansion commenced.

Lovely little hidden castle ruin around the back of Luton Airport. Pretty scenic drive to get to it and lots of birds to see. Good place to watch planes take off and land too if you're into that sort of thing. Just a shame about the litter.

Wonderful place, i never get tired of visiting this place. The brickwork is lovely and there is still a lot of details in the work. You are able to walk through the whole of the building , usually it is litter free but sometimes people visit and leave a bit or two. The farm is right next door to this place and you sometimes get a greeting from the cows who come right up close to the fence surrounding the castle. There is some old farming machinery near to this castle which is worth a little look while there. This is great to see time and again, a wonderful old piece of history right in Luton, wonderful.

Good location, although the road leading to the castle is not paved and definitely not suitable for sport cars or motorbikes. The remains of this castle are quite small and you’ll walk around it in just a couple of minutes. Still it’s worth a visit in my opinion, just don’t expect to spend the day there..

A free attraction - really interesting history behind the manor house and chapel. There's an informative board too which is helpful. Grass is a bit overgrown; it would be good for it to be a bit better maintained. You can spot some planes from the airport taking off or landing. Parking is available just outside the site - on TripAdvisor some reviewers mentioned that it wasn't a good idea to drive over the dirt track, but I found that this was no issue, you can comfortably park next to the site.

You'll find the ruins at the end of a country road, about 5 minutes drive off the main road. There is an information plaque talking about Someries and what used to be there. Unfortunately there is little information provided and there is graffiti on the walls. I would have liked to see/read more about this place. Overall, of you are in the area, it is a pleasant place for a quick visit or a picnic

It's quite easy to find. A small stretch of road leading to Someries Castle was in a poor state, so quite bumpy. There's an area to park, but not a carpark as such. It is also close to residential properties & Luton Airport. Someries Castle is actually a fortified Manor House & dates back to the early 15th century. It's built of red brick, which makes it one of the earliest houses to be recorded. Popular with families as plenty of grass areas to picnic & space for children to explore. The ruins don't cover a large area but are interesting with some definition between the rooms.

Some ruins, in the middle of nowhere, near Luton. Great nature around. The ruins itself nothing that interesting.
