    We were there on a Friday night with a friend treating my wife for her birthday. But we had the worst dinner service imaginable that night from this server named Sung. The way we were treated at this establishment by this server, Sung, clearly demonstrated how bad this place is mismanaged. Apparently there is no consequence for being a bad server with an attitude. The management even had my Yelp review removed for stating facts. They are enabling this kind of behavior. What a joke. 20 minutes into the dinner we asked this worker to be nice to us after multiple requests for items that we did not get or sent to wrong tables. We also told him it was my wife's birthday that exact day we were at the restaurant. Not only he refused to apologize and tell us he will try instead he started to harass us. He gave us DOUBLE order of this Hawaiian steak and 5 minutes later he came over to ask us if we wanted more of the Hawaiian steak. But we did not even get a chance to cook the extra order that we did not order yet. Why do we want more? We asked why he is harassing us like that? He said he just want to make sure we get what we wanted. He started telling us to repeat stuffs we ordered to double check. 5 minutes later he had this girl send over another DOUBLE order of Hawaiian steak again. Unbelievable. At the end, we heard at least 3 birthday song sang by the servers and something with candles delivered to those tables. But nothing for my wife. He ruined my wife's birthday. She was so angry and started to cry after the dinner. We decided to talk to the manager on our way out. That piece of s**t, Sung, ran in front of us and grab the manager Tim to the side right in front of us before we had a chance to talk. He probably told Tim to cover for him or not to let other managers know what he did. Unbelievable. Anyway, we used to be regular customers for years. Not after this kind of treatment from this place and the management. By the way, the definition of hospitality is the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers. I think people need to know that if you work in the hospitality business.

    My daughter asked for a lunch date, we arrived at 1:45 and after literally a couple minutes wait we're seated. All good there. The waiter shows up after about 10 minutes, okay... Place isn't crowded and I can't say what he was doing beforehand as I didn't know who the server was. We order our beverages and food. He puts it into the iPad and then goes to help others. He brings the sauces, rice and no salad. I noticed he was starting to serve others who came in after we did. Catching his attention as he walked by, we asked for a bowl of brisket sauce. He said he could top off our sauce tray. He proceeded to give the table over a bowl of sauce. At this point we've been there over 25 minutes. Someone else brings the food out, guess what... The grill isn't lit. Other people that arrived after us and are seated are already cooking and enjoying their food. I go ask the manager if I could borrow the lighter wand to light our grill (I know I can't) she says she'll go tell the waiter (instead of just doing it herself). They go track him down, he walks by and I'm not exaggerating another 4 to 5 times bringing stuff to the other tables, another 10 minutes had gone by and finally I'm like enough... So I ask for the check for the soda my daughter drank and he says with an attitude "what about the food" I said how were we supposed to cook it when you never turned the grill on? He says I thought it was on... I said, at this point we're no longer interested in eating here. I speak to the manager and offer again to pay for the drink and she looked annoyed but said it's okay. We left... And yes we're black. The only blacks in the restaurant.

    Go to any other Gen or KBBQ in general. The manager ignored our request to have the heaters turned on while seated outside, the waitress tried her best but couldn’t get to everyone in a respectable timeframe, some of the food was frozen solid (you can see the ice hanging off the radish paper in the photo), the salad had no dressing, and we had to change our own grill. Unsatisfactory performance all around.

    An all you can eat feast that you cook yourself. Fresh, clean, friendly staff and great atmosphere. There was a 20min wait for a table but definitely worth the wait.

    At first the service wasn't good, the servers were slow the food took forever to get there the service was bad.. but then I asked for the manager and i expressed to him about our service and that it was unacceptable. He was very apologetic and he asked to fix it I almost left the restaurant and I decided to give a chance we got seated right away inside and they really made up for it. I really think this manager is amazing and does his job right he gave us great service and great servers. I'll be coming back again.

    Have been going to this location for many years and today I have had the worst experience. Server only came by three times and we were not able to order for over 20-30 minutes. The second order we made took another 20 minutes to come out. Spoke to Josh (manager on shift) and while he was helpful in hearing me out I am still disappointed. I am going to have to reconsider returning to this location.

    Got seated and didn't even get menu books... too 20 mins to get drinks.. another 30 to get served.. and finally when we got served we didn't even get what we ordered. They threw random food on our table and they didn't seem to want to give us brisket which is something we were familiar with.. horrible experience because we didn't know what to order since we didn't have a menu to look at and it took them so long to give us napkins. The server was focused on one table and they were getting the top service while we were getting lowest customer service. They still expected 20% tip and the manager was no where to be found. Not to mention music was super loud which made it even more frustrating to express our concerns. The last time we were there we were seated in the patio area and the experience was amazing.. I hope the manager reads this because we were waiting for our mom to come back from the restroom while waiting for our card to return and they started picking up the table and spilled water near us making us feel like we needed to leave right away... everything was just very uncomfortable.

    Came here not knowing what to order. Really enjoyed it. We would at what others would order around us, and if it looked good we would order too. It was a good place to eat. The atmosphere was good The food the good The service was super. Eventhough it was crowded those People can juggle very well.

    This used to be a fun/decent place for KBBQ - like a Yard House equivalent - but the quality has definitely dropped. Ordered delivery because I do not have access to KBBQ in my neighborhood. I asked for cucumber and potato salad - and was given kimchi, of all things (?!) and the meats were overcooked to hell. Go to one of the mom and pop places in Cerritos instead if you can help it, Gen clearly doesn’t want business.

    You better hope the new location they built next door has filtered water.. because this is what’s served to people at this one. ALL the water given out is out the hand washing faucet. Naaaaaaaaaastyyyyy. Sometimes it comes out gray, and we just wait for it to come out clear again. Welcome to Gens😆!

    I ended up trying this place out last minute since my favorite spot was closed this afternoon. Overall everything was good but the service was kind of slow, the meats were okay and they don't give you enough sides for four people. I honestly can't complain since it was $20 per person.

    Ordered the 7 meats combo via UberEats and had mixed feelings about the overall experience - The good: portions of the meats are generous. - The bad: ridiculously small side dishes. - The ugly: all the meats were well-done, and some were BURNT and overcooked...

    Just left gen and will not be back. As frequent customers they really dropped the ball tonight. I asked the front manager with glasses and pony tail to tell my server we were celebrating a birthday and they forgot. Not to mention the slow service tonight. I had to constantly flag server down when we need a grill change. When we ordered something it was forgotten. What was going on tonight it was NOT that busy! That sucks because we loved gen. As far as the food apparently server told us they got a new distributor so their rice paper is garbage now and the quality of the brisket was terrible. We spent $150 out the door and STILL TIPPED. For a terrible experience!

    Although pretty expensive, this is one of the best places to get Korean bbq. The meat is actually really great quality and the service is really good. The place can get really packed so get there earlier than expected. This was a great experience and is worth it.

    Very helpful server!! She was amazing.! The lady at the front wasn’t as friendly and we had to ask 3 times for a booster seat for my son. Our server ended up grabbing it. Food, it’s not the same. The brisket was like eating sand. They also accidentally gave us an extra plate of it and we couldn’t finish it. The texture was making us sick. We think it was just shaved too thin. We also were told there was no rice paper… which is my husbands favorite part. As we walked out, we seen everyone with rice paper. 🙃 The place was very clean, very busy, staff was quick. But there was definitely things that could have been a little better. For sure our brisket was just so bad. I also overheard a women walking to her car that mentioned the texture of it as well. Maybe just a bad day for them.

    Very busy on Saturday night, a little too busy. We needed our grill re-lit 3 times because it somehow went out when changing the grill plate. Food was good. Would prefer the music not be so loud. And the grill ventilation could be improved, I kept getting steam in my face.

    It was my first time there and it was just not a great experience. They gave us an estimate of 45min. I know they get busy but they kept skipping us. We waited for 2 hrs. When it was 45 they said are table was ready. Then they said they would be calling is soon. Then they couldn’t give us an excuse. Made us wait 2 hrs. The service was not so great. We had to keep asking for stuff cause they would bring it or wouldn’t enough. There were so people waiting but at the end we were there last ones waiting. I felt like it was so un fair how they kept skipping us. Then they took our order so it can be ready when we get seated. They still took long. They didn’t have it ready. They didn’t have certain meat wet wanted. I honestly don’t know if I would go back. Checked in at 6:50 and at 7:45 they told us the table was being cleaned up. They say us at 9pm. Little people that were there waiting got seated.

    Don't go on Sundays! I know what a way to start a review. But I have gone multiple times in the weekends and this place is way too packed and services is so slow. This time it was terrible, if you did not have patience you were gone. The patio was crowded, the seats were so cramped one could barely walk around even the waiters struggled. My party of 6 were called in pretty quick it was too good to be true. The waiting was worse once seated. We were sitting there starving and watching others eat. My family and I were so hungry were were sharing an appetizer of a single rib it was hilarious. We felt like the crowds lol But thankfully for them my family was patient and service got better after a while like 2 hours later. Until then we got a decent amount of food. But what made our day was the waiters kindness. They were all so polite, apologized and one could tell how hardworking and tired they were going up and down left and right like crazy. A lot of food was out and we would get the wrong meat sometimes but we didn't mind we weren't picky. I would return because food was good and the waiters are very nice and even gave us 50% off. I will make sure to return on a weekday, definitely.
