A quick lunch stop - welcomed with friendly service, the toasted sandwiches that were very generous; and great coffee - all served in a slightly quirky environment.

I don't normally leave negative comments but this was such an underwhelming experience that i had to. Eggs Benedict were terrible. Eggs overcooked, cold and slimy ham (tasteless salmon on the other) and sauce from a jar. Coffee was super milky with almost no froth. Definitely not 4* place. O

When we saw this place with happy five star reviews, we where excited to order a nice little breakfast. Absolutely horrible food, wait times, rude service and price. We waited 40 minutes for 3 bacon and egg rolls and 2 coffees and withstood the owner yelling at the staff. When we finally got the food, it was a putrid experience. Nails where sticking out of the inside bench we waited on.

The only place in Cessnock that knows how to make coffee Melbourne-style. Highly recommend trying the filo pastry with tomato, bacon and mayo. Sounds gross but tastes like heaven. I visit for work and Polinas makes the travel worth it.

Great food, quick and friendly service.

Okay, the bacon and egg roll was great. The owner? Was just berating her staff asking if they had a brain all breakfast which really killed the atmosphere. Don’t bash the people who serve your customers. Power tripping ruins your environment.

Copious amounts of bacon, good coffee, best big breaky I've ever had!

Best hot chocolate, great scones nice and moist but the smashed avocado plate... They had more tomato and way to much bread on the dish than there was avocado. Would have given 5 stars but that is always a deal breaker for me. If the star of the dish is barely there don't even try.

Good food and coffee. Our Son has a serious food allergy and they were especially diligent to keep him safe.

Decent coffee and food. Big breakfast could do with another ingredient (hash brown/sausage/baked beans) for $25. Gets 4 stars for quantity of bacon

Brought my parents to the Hunter for a break and went searching for a decent coffee, small breakfast all within a non franchise environment. Found it all in Polina's Cafe. Lots of idiosyncratic furniture, cups etc and the dulcet tones of Dean Martin in the background. Great espresso, fabulous (a little pricey at $9) egg and bacon rolls and home made muffins. All served with character. Lovely.

Stopped for breakfast on the way through town. Great coffee the Salmon Benedict was delicious with a plentiful supply of salmon. My wife's bacon & egg roll was huge. All in all a great stop, thank you.

Stopped here for breakfast as everywhere else was full and must say the staff here were much friendlier than any other places we tried first. Only very limited breakfast menu (but this was made clear to us before we sat down) but good selection of drinks, particularly teas. The Yoghurt Parfait was smaller than I expected but it was delicious. The toasted sandwiches could’ve used a bit more time in the press as the cheese wasn’t quite melted yet. Overall, pleasant experience :)

Very cute niche cafe. Stopped for some food after a long drive on a very hot day and it was cool inside. We were served quickly and had our food and drinks quickly too. Service and quality were great

    I love this cafe.

Portions are decent. BLT sandwich was nice. Eggs Benedict go with mustard mayo instead of hollandaise sauce. Scones are cut in half and baked inside for some reason and go with whipped cream instead of clotted cream.

Coffee nice, quirky decor and friendly staff. Food is nice but not overwhelming. The scones come with a small portion of store bought squirty cream, which is pretty poor.

Basic cafe with overly priced ham and cheese toastie. Toastie had no tomato slices which was a bit sad. There were no other toastie options. Not sure if I would go back again but I would prefer this to Grinders which is a few minutes' walk away.

Our experience at this cafe was pretty poor. We ordered 1 ham and cheese croissant and two coffees the croissant came out fist and was burnt. The coffees didn't come out for about 10 minutes later and they were just look warm so over All not good and won't waste my 18 dollars there again

We only had coffees. Unfortunately all our lattes and cappuccino’s were too milky/creamy. The espresso was good. The interior is funky and you can sit outside. The staff was kind.

Good coffee, except they forgot one coffee for our group. Barista was rude with her own staff in front of customers

I visited Poilna's last weekend with 2 friends. All 3 of us were unhappy after our meal. Bacon was poor quality and very chewy. Poached egg was cold in the middle as though it had been cooked and then reheated again. One of our dishes had a herb oil garnish which was excessive in quantity leaving the bread soggy. The cups provided for our table water were dirty. We asked for more and saw the waitress check the new cups and despite them being even dirtier than the first set they were still given to our table. The cafe was not full at the time of our visit (I expect due to covid limitations) we had to follow up on our orders as our food took more than 40 minutes to arrive. No communication was awarded from the staff as to the delay. Almost gave this place a 1 star but I was happy with the size of my coffee.

Bacon and egg roll was SUPERB!! Coffee was delicious, perfectly balanced and impressive for the brand of coffee (usually I don’t like this brand but Polina’s may have changed my mind here). The bread used for the bacon and egg roll is fresh, onion jam is delicious and bacon and poached egg cooked to perfection. Staff were very kind. The cafe was quiet and ambient for Sunday morning.

Went on the past weekend to polinas. First time customer.not sure if I'd go back. Staff were OK. It was busy maybe busier than they are used to? Manager was running around frantically. I ordered eggs on toast with bacon and a scone with kam/cream. I understood it would be a fair wait for the hot food, but I saw people served after me, get their food before I did. I went up and asked about my scone, yo have the front tell me "yes, we sell scones". I clarified what I meant and she brought it out in under 2 minutes- I assume this meant my food had simply been forgotten somewhere. I gog my eggs on toast which tasted watery and cold, the bacon was chewy and alot of it was burnt past an edible stage. For around $30, I felt quite gipped qnd probably wont come back.

So ordered 2 bacon and cheese toasties @ $12 each to take away. Got home, and unwrapped this. What seems to be a microwaved half-sandwich with lunch meat style ham slices (note the sweetener container for scale). Not impressed, not recommending.

Very nice coffee, sadly the food is not good at all, the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict possibly home made tasted terrible and went back, one of the egg and bacon rolls went back bacon totally burnt to charcoal best way to describe it, big breakfast okish my poached eggs were good bacon some of it ok but some also burnt. Oh yes the mushrooms were very nice.

Good coffee and the Veggie breakfast was delightful. Only downfall...specifically asked for a hard poached egg, but unfortunately it was a runny one. Lucky I didn't open it near my breakfast as it would have ruined my entire meal. Handed it off to Hubby.

Polina's Cafe has great (mild blend) coffee that is served piping hot, by a small friendly team (always accommodating) and the bonus on weekdays I can rely upon service being express! No ques - no long 10 mins waits and always with a smile. A small but delicious menu (sweet / savoury) is available, of which highly recommend the B&E roll !! Cafe has a casual, relaxed and moody vibe that features really interesting art by Polina herself.
