We attended the Edisto and Beyond Tour this past weekend. Over all experience was a positive one. The docents were all very nice and knowledgeable. I look forward to attending next year!

Lovely, knowledgeable docent helped answer questions. Lots of written information labeling displays. Amazing Native American artifacts from the local area on display. Intricate handmade diorama. Salvaged parts of a wooden cabin once home to slave families in the area is very thought provoking. Glad such care has been taken to preserve these artifacts and tell stories.

Many historic photos. The photos and description of the process of dismantling and moving the slave cabin from Edisto Island to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African-American History and Culture is interesting. Tries to present a balanced SC Low Country history, despite the long and recent reign of segregation. Less effort is given to indigenous cultures (no land acknowledgment, for instance). Note: handicapped access, while provided, is challenging due to types of surfaces.

This is a great little museum to learn some local history. We learned of other places we want to visit. This museum has exhibits dating from before the Revolutionary War into the 20th century. The staff here is fairly knowledgeable, as they should be. These ladies are very good with knowing the local people and how everything here fits together. The gift shop sells art from local artists as well as crafts that are made nearby.
