Tyler is the most incredible bartender I have come across yet! Not only in Charleston, but out of all the cities I’ve lived in. His warm and friendly demeanor makes you feel comfortable and welcomed from the second you walk through the door. His attentive personality and charming smile will keep you entertained for hours. Beyond that, he has extensive knowledge of the drink and food menu, including how things are made, what goes into them, and how each flavor compliments each other. I have been coming to see him every Sunday now for weeks in a row and ordering the Mango Chile Margarita. I send in friends often to see Tyler. Highly recommend this restaurant and ask for Tyler when you come!

Gave this a try for happy hour and specifically wanted the patio. It was very nice and relaxing. The mango-Chile margaritas were wonderful! Loved the popcorn…excellent queso…and the brisket tacos were superb! The black beans were very flavorful and a really big portion as a side, definitely enough for two. Would definitely come back and try more!

I was blown away by my dining experience here. They have amazing cocktails the Pineapple Ginger Margarita was so good. And I love all the authentic dishes. I have to say that the Esquites was phenomenal and the Enchiladas! Also, on Friday night the Chef is on the patio cooking. I loved seeing him in action. Their indoor and outdoor space is phenomenal. Hellooo!!! Visiting from Miami Beach… My dad and I had a great and easy dinner at mayas!!! First of all I would like to thank Mr Taylor for his top notch service at the bar. Friendly, charming, helpful, positive and electric attitude. We found totally the opposite care at darling oyster one night ago (read review please). Guacamole was good. Also were the chicken tacos… plus two coronas… Thanks again for a great service!!!

We had an amazing dining experience on our anniversary! We were totally surprised by the welcome from the host with a personalized greeting card signed by many staff. The place has got a beautiful ambience, spacious yet cozy feel, food was delicious, and the service was great! To add to our surprise, our lovely server brought us a complementary entree to make the evening feel even more special. Highly recommended!!

We really enjoyed our time here. Nice to have an elevated Mexican food offering in Charleston. Service was excellent: attentive, patient (took us while to figure out what to order) and timely. We loved the salsa and queso. Tacos were substantial and tasty. Margaritas were on point. Definitely will return!

this place almost meets my expectations and more! the bartender tyler is what keeps me coming back! he is so good at his job and also is so amazing as a person person! maya would not be the same without him!

Amazing experience!! Our server Reese was awesome, and super helpful with deciding what to get on the menu since everything looked so good. The brussel sprouts were incredible along with the entomatada enchiladas. The cocktails were also delicious! Highly recommend trying out this spot!👌

This is not a traditional Mexican restaurant. If you are expecting traditional,...don't! It's very different. It was a new experience. The service was excellent! But not crazy about the food. Started with the margaritas. I had the Spicy Chile, my husband had the Strawberry Margarita. They were fresh and tasty, but not overly strong or sweet ($9 happy hour). We started with the Queso and added mushrooms ($3 extra for mushrooms). It was tasty, but the chips were deep fried, so very heavy. We split the Steak Fajitas ($27) which did not come out on a sizzling skillet. It was good, but came with 3 small corn tortillas (we prefer flour tortillas). Over all, it was a different and still enjoyable experience, but we would probably not go back because it's not "our style" Mexican.

The entire experience was great! Knowledgeable server and support staff, beautiful space and great food! What more could you ask for? Oh wait! The menu is almost fully gluten free! Huge for those that normally only can pick from a handful or less of menu items.
