My husband and I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and had a great experience. The wait was short and the service was excellent. All the staff we encountered were kind and pleasant. We sat on the front porch and enjoyed the views of Charleston in perfect weather. They serve complimentary cornbread and honey butter to start 😋. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my husband got fried catfish. Both were fresh with the perfect crispy texture. The flavors were yummy and balanced well. The fries were also perfect and crispy/soft. I ordered a lavender martini which was delicious. You can really taste the vanilla vodka, which I loved. We would definitely go back! It was good vibes all around.

Poogan's Porch was absolutely amazing! I made a reservation two days before as I was bringing my dog and wanted to make sure we were able to get outdoor seating. When we arrived we were seated right away on the patio in the back on the first floor and there was a water bowl already waiting. Our waitress Keri, filled up the water bowl right away for my dog which I very much appreciated. Keri was very sweet and accommodating to not only me but my dog as well. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were absolutely phenomenal! The bacon jam and pimento cheese sauce that it comes with on the side was a perfect pairing! The shrimp and grits are incredible. The portion size was a bit big for me so I did not finish it but did take it to go. I also ordered one of the mock-tails on the menu which was delicious! I would highly recommend both dishes when you go there. It was a hot sunny day but the patio where we were was covered and there was a fan outside which helped a lot. I will definitely be back next time in Charleston!

Had a wonderful lunch here this past Sunday! The restaurant has a small cozy homey cute vibe. There seemed to be a wait when we got there so this must be the happening spot for brunch. The Fried Green Tomatoes was a great appetizer—the bacon jam for the dip was so delicious! Really enjoyed the Shrimp & Grits (with poached egg for $2.50) and Country Fried Chicken—both huge portions and very tasty! Our cocktails were great as well!

We got a reservation so we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. I saw this was advertised on multiple websites to try before Charleston. It did not disappoint. Service was very good. We ordered the she-crab soup, shrimp & grits, and the famous bone-in fried chicken. She-crab soup was very flavorful and savory. The fried chicken was juicy and tender. The shrimp and grits was creamy and there was no shortage of meat in there. Place was very clean. Prices were slightly expensive.

This place is absolutely amazing! The food is fresh and full of flavor, menu variety is just right and the staff is very attentive. I would recommend making a reservation as space is limited. Their outdoor seating is dog friendly and they will treat your four legged friend just as well as you! Amazing place, and a must stop when in Charleston! You will enjoy anything off the menu here!

This is a haunted restaurant. Our server told us two spinster sisters lived here in the 1800's - Elizabeth and Zoe. They were reclusive and stayed out of the world's way. After Elizabeth died, Zoe became very depressed and went crazy. She was admitted to an asylum, where she died years later. Zoe's ghost still wanders through the house/restaurant looking for Elizabeth. Our server also told us he saw Zoe once. He was upstairs and saw someone in black walk into a room. He followed the individual, and when he got there, the room was empty. He checked the closet. No one. Zoe was known to wear black all the time. And now the food... delicious. That fried chicken is fantastic. I didn't think I was hungry, but I finished most of it. Great portion. Perfect crispness and juicy. The fried pork chop was also fantastic. Moist and well seasoned. Get the pecan pie. I actually I like it despite pecan being my favorite nut. If you're in Charleston, don't ghost this place.

We had an excellent experience here! We made a reservation which proved to be necessary as they were turning away walk ins. The setting was nice and clean, just slightly cramped but to be expected in historic Charleston. The pimento cheese fritters were a perfect appetizer. Very creamy and flavorful (a nice change for this cheese stick loving girl). I had the chicken and waffles and it’s no exaggeration when I say the BEST ever. Our server was fantastic, attentive and prompt and everything was spot on. We’d definitely visit here again.

We came here for brunch and had a wonderful experience. The interior is super cozy with pretty paintings and open seating. We ordered the she crab soup, fried green tomatoes, lowcountry mussels, fried chicken, and hummingbird pecan pie. We also got complementary biscuits with honey butter and jam, which was delicious. The fried chicken was super tender, and the collard greens were cooked perfectly and were the best we’ve ever had. The hummingbird pecan pie was super gooey with strong bourbon and caramel flavor, and it was definitely one of the best pecan pies we’ve ever had. We loved everything we ordered, and we would definitely come again if we’re back in Charleston!

Great service. We came in without a reservation during a busy weekend at 730p and got a seat. The waiter was friendly, helpful, and fast. My spouse and I loved the apps, entrees and dessert. They had great southern biscuits to start, with whipped butter that had a hint of honey. I got the lavender cocktail but with gin instead of vodka and it was amazing (and that's coming from someone who loves a good lavender beverage). We got shrimp and grits and the catch of the day (grouper). The portions were a good size, but not huge. We got the pecan pie to split for dessert. Overall everything was pretty great. The waiter made what would be a good meal - great. Definitely would come back- especially to drink :)

Poogan's Porch is a must if you are visiting Charleston for the 1st time, 2nd time, 3rd time or... you get the point. My wife and I reserved a spot for breakfast and I highly recommend whenever you choose to go that you make a reservation, this place is going to get busy fast and for all the right reasons. The place itself is really nice and well designed, it's cozy and homey with multiple levels of seating. The service was fantastic and our server filled our morning with such beautiful and vibrant energy. To start you get delicious biscuits with a light and creamy butter. We each got a fantastic mimosa, grapefruit and pineapple. Then our food, the pimento cheese balls, the chicken and waffles and the brioche french toast...ummm, hands down the best meal we had here in Charleston and that's saying something because we only had great ones. Everything melted in your mouth, mouthwatering good and I only wish we went here earlier in our trip so we could have gone again! Do I recommend going here? If you made it this far without making your reservation, what are you doing??? Go go go!! Enjoy!!

Portions are large and it's classic southern dishes here! I'm so full! The atmosphere is formal but they let us in wearing street clothes and treated us graciously. They have a couple of mocktails and the one we got was delicious. The biscuits they bring you right off the bat are what you'd expect- pure goodness.

Best chicken and waffles I’ve had. Crispy skin on the chicken, not overly greasy, and juicy meat. Waffles were also good, not chewy/doughy. Egg white omelette is a very generous portion and hash browns that remind me of McDonald’s breakfast hash browns but way better! Really charming restaurant - inside of a house and good service from the staff. Highly recommend and would come back!

It was a warm summer night, we were in the mood for a Charleston Staple and came to this gem. Upon entry you see a huge home with of course a big porch. Upon entry you feel like you are in a row home in DC or a old house in New Orleans. They have a small bar right behind the host stand if you are waiting for your reservation. We made one and were sat right away. The food here is amazing, all the classic southern dishes. We had the fried green tomatoes (amazing), lamb - meat falls right off the bone, and a Salmon southern Caesar salad. For drinks I had the bourbon flight, very fairly priced at $20 for 3 glasses of bourbon. Service was top notch as well. We didn’t do dessert as we had it before, but it looked great. Highly recommend this Charleston classic!

This was my second time eating here. The first was roughly 5 years ago. The food was just as good now as it was then. I wish I could remember our waitresses' name because she was an absolute sweetheart. She was very attentive our entire visit. The food was phenomenal. The atmosphere is lovely, especially if you're interested in the back story of the location. We went on a Friday and it eas decently busy (roughly an hour wait) so I do recommend making a reservation regardless.

Autumn was our server, and our experience was beyond perfection. Her suggestions were on point, and her descriptions made your mouth water with anticipation of the flavors to come. Autumn was so gracious and hospitable. A beautiful representation of Southern hospitality and charm. All of our dishes were amazing, from the appetizers to the entrée followed by the desserts. Banana pudding and pecan pie. So, so delicious!

The food was delicious! Good luck trying to decide what to eat though, as they have so many delicious items it'll be difficult to choose. I had the Fried Chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and it was amazing. Pro tip: make a reservation ahead of time, as it's a very popular tourist spot and the wait time was 45 minutes to an hour when we got there. Luckily we had a reservation and got right in. Once in, the service was quick and friendly. It wasn't too loud, but definitely very packed.

Great southern classics in a gorgeous historic building. Don’t miss looking at the autographed menus on the walls through the building. Not only our server Liv, but every employee we passed welcomed us in. She crab soup was to die for. The only other item I ordered was the biscuit and gravy starter and with how filling the bowl of soup was, I’m glad that was all I got! As I watched the chicken and waffle orders walk by me to other tables I just thought WOW, that’s a lot of food! My dining partner had the fried chicken sandwich which he said was delicious. Reservations were highly recommended . We had one and we’re seated within minutes of arriving. Those without reservations were quoted 1.5 to 2 hour wait on Sunday brunch time. Reservations are via the Resy app.

One of the best food experiences in my life. Our first time in South Carolina and the food was up to its reputation. The drinks (cocktails) were great suggestions from our server. And the lamb dish was the king of the night. I still remember how it tasted. I'll definitely be coming back here and do it all over again.

We were looking for a place for dinner in Downtown Charleston and this place popped up. We went during weekday and no wait at all. We ordered She crab soup, famous Fried chicken, the Catch of the day (Grouper) with green bean and the red rice and ended with Pecan pie. They gave us warm biscuit as soon as we sat down which was good. The soup is delicious. The fish is moist and flavorful. The fried chicken is very tasty and the pecan pie with vanilla ice-crean finished the day. It's a must try restaurant when you are at Charleston.

Poogan’s Porch is a staple/standby in Charleston. The food is fantastic. The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is fun as well. A neat old house in Charleston with interesting, signed menus hanging on the wall. Have been going there for years and will continue to do so. Good food, good times. Go Eat!

This was recommended by my taxi driver from the airport who is a local. It did not disappoint. The venue was very nice and historically beautiful. Their fried chicken sandwich was the best I have had. There was not a huge menu, but the options we had were really good. Definitely a must have if your are in Charleston.

We had a wonderful night at Poogans! Atmosphere is so relaxing and the service was friendly and attentive. We started off with the fried green tomatoes. Best I have had because of the pimento cheese !!! The best!! We had fried chicken, a must, so so crispy and shrimp and grits! Both were very good!

The only place we want to go for lunch/brunch when in Charleston. Something on the menu for everyone and it's ALL good. The atmosphere is cozy, lovely and clean. (Make reservations.) We will be back!

Food and service were good. Even though our res showed for a different location, they accommodated our large group immediately. That was awesome. One thing that stood out about the food was its good presentation. I also remember the crust of the fried pork chop to be well seasoned. I enjoyed the experience.

The staff was super friendly, and when our waitress found out we were not from the area, she was quick to refer a couple of friendly options for my family to do while in town. The food was fantastic. I enjoyed the fried chicken.

Service and atmosphere was fantastic. The bartender told us the story of the sisters that lived in the house. Very interesting. The shrimp and grits looked great but not the best flavor I have had. Not horrible but wouldn't try that next time. I would go back again though. My friend had the egg white omelet and it was great. We all had fried green tomatoes 🍅 and it was the best 👌

We had reservations and were seated promptly. The waiter, Brett, was so friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our appetizers were the fried green tomatoes and fried okra, both were absolutely delicious. The bacon jam was so savory and yummy. For our entrees we ordered the house salad, shrimp and grits, and the pork chop. Everything tasted fresh and so good. The pork chop was absolutely delicious. I mean, possibly the BEST meal ever. Such an enjoyable atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back.

Went for my birthday dinner and great experience. I got the steak medium well very tender to my satisfaction. My husband had shrimp and grits were good but a little more on spicy side if you like. We also ordered wings as a appetizer pretty good, but they are fried not as your usual appetizer wings. Would like to see more food options overall great experience and the management came by to check on us as well

Above average brunch - but it didn’t blow my socks off. The pimento cheese fritters with bacon jam were the first thing we ate. These were my favorite thing we had. The fritters were fried well and the pimento cheese on the inside was perfectly melted. The bacon jam was outstanding. I’d never had bacon jam before but I knew Poogan’s porch was well known for their bacon jam and it was delicious. The texture was great - small bits of bacon with some sort of jam. It was perfectly flavorful and an excellent complement to the fritters. The complementary biscuits were good but not great. I’d say they were pretty average for biscuits. They felt a little too dense in my opinion. The main entree I had was the chicken fried pork chop. I thought the chicken fried pork chop was fried pretty well and I liked the texture and gravy on top. The grits served with the dish were good in my opinion but I am not a grits expert so I have minimal experience to compare this to. The service was fine. A little slow but they took care of us fine.

It has a good atmosphere, service is very good, but the food is absolutely disappointing. I ordered the blue crab dip, and it was room temperature. The cheese on top was not melted. The she crab soup was Luke warm and over seasoned. This place seems to have an issue with heating up food. The waitress insisted to bring me another crab dip, and it arrived the same way. We ordered 4 entrees. The lamb shank was so tough that my fork couldn’t pierce it. The fried chicken was dry, and the fried pork chop was burnt and dry with cold peas on top. The only edible entree was the salmon.
