*Update....I got the ribs i regretted not getting last time and they were definitely worth it. I'm from out of town and asked a local I work with where to get BBQ in Charleston. I am glad he directed me here, all the food looked so good. I ended up with the brisket sandwich and mac and cheese. Both were great. Brisket had a great smokey flavor. Staff was super friendly and service was quick. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. I even bought a shirt to mark the occasion.

I came on a Sunday and the line was incredibly long, waited about an hour!! I got the sliced brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, sausages, mac n cheese, potato salad, corn pudding, and fries. The wait was definitely worth it!! The meat was so tender and juicy!! The sides were so yummy! Would recommend getting all fatty cuts of the brisket though because the leaner cuts are a little dry.

We had such a great experience at Lewis, Barbecue in Charleston, SC. They open at 11AM and we got there a few minutes later and only had to wait about 20 minutes. The line was super quick and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. They had so many good things, we didn’t even know what to order. We end up getting almost everything. We got brisket, half fat, half lean. We got one each of the sausages that we’re both out of this universe. We also got mac & cheese, potato salad, the corn pudding, coleslaw and the beans. Everything was so delicious and well prepared and seasoned. The special was the chicken fried steak and we all shared that and it was also mouthwatering. It was cooked perfectly and had the best sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and two sides. They also had a really great bar with specialty drinks that were well priced. They also had a great beer selection as well. Cannot wait to go back and have it again!!

My friends visited this placed about 2 years ago during a visit to Charleston and they got impressed with their brisket, so I gave them a chance and wanted to try it myself. They were not wrong, the brisket and the pulled pork were awesome and tasty. Good selections for sides as well. The place is spacious for sitting, just be patient and ready to wait an hour or more on the line. Not too many parking slots, very limited. Staff sometimes not too efficient, people waiting on the line and they were talking and talking and not taking orders. The experience was good overall, the best BBQ I've ever had without doubt. Definitely a place you have to visit for a good BBQ experience.

Went for the amazing beef and cheddar special on Fridays. Had some brisket as well, which was the best brisket I've ever tasted. Mac and cheese was on point. Collards were well cooked and seasoned. Loved everything we ate!

Visited: 5.19.23. This place is the BEST BBQ EVER, and we get around!! The atmosphere, the food, the service, everything about it was amazing. We ordered just about everything to try it out. I would say the brisket changed my life. It was not dry, it was PERFECT! So were the salads and nachos.... I could go on forever and eat there weekly. We even ordered enough for leftovers, and a bottle of their spice, I should have ordered a hoody, but I didn't. Enjoy this place!

The reviews are spot on - excellent BBQ. It’s the best BBQ we’ve ever had. The brisket is perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, super moist & very juicy. Wow. The pork ribs are tender & juicy as well. Perfectly cooked. The pulled pork is also very good. Delicious BBQ sauce as well but you don’t need it. The meat speaks for itself. The collard greens are the best ever ever had too. Amazing. Worth every penny. Highly recommended. 5+ stars.

We did a whole barbecue platter, and it was absolutely delicious. From the tender meats to the delicious sides. There were a lot of options to choose from. Typical Texas style line, where you are staying in line and get up to the butcher and he cuts the meats in front of you. Staff was super friendly. Highly recommend you go if you’re in Charleston and take a plate home with you!

Lewis BBQ is one of the best BBQ places in Charleston, South Carolina! It’s Texas inspired bbq! We ordered the brisket (sliced), pulled pork, ribs, and the day we went they had a special of a giant rib! I highly recommend all 4! Service here was incredible, everyone was super friendly, explained to you how to order (you can customize how much meat you want), and we got the food fast! Their sweet tea is FIRE! The Mac & cheese was delicious! Banana pudding is my favorite dessert and I LOVED the overall experience! Highly recommend! 10/10 would recommend!

Everything is good and pretty much everyone said that. If you can eat a large amount. I would try 2 meat 1/2 lb each and some sides. And then next time try their daily specials. Their country fried steak on the weekends looks so thick and heavy. Line does stretch to the door if you are early but wait time is not that long. Service is excellent anyway so they make sure everyone is getting taken care of

Outstanding food — the most delicious brisket, pulled pork, and sides I’ve had. The combination of the sides and smoked meats is perfection. It was such a delicious meal! But what topped it off as the best experience ever was the customer service. One of my family members has severe food allergies. The staff was excellent at ensuring she had the best meal of her life. From checking ingredients to getting fresh sides that had no cross contamination, their attention to detail was immaculate. Worth every bit of the drive. 10/10 recommend.

This place is AMAZING. Super friendly staff and the BBQ is on point. You smell the smoky aroma the second you step out of your car. Meats are super juicy, sides super fresh and it is regarded by the locals as the best around. You won be disappointed.

This place is probably my favorite BBQ spot I’ve been to in a long time. First time buyer and everything was just great. The servers were awesome and nice, the meat was super tasty. I especially liked the pulled pork. I can easily say that was my favorite part of the whole meal. I decided to try a little bit of everything and was not disappointed. I will definitely be back!

Brisket was absolutely amazing! Sides were delicious especially the hatch green chili corn casserole, cowboy beans and Mac and cheese. Both the hot guts sausage and the hatch green chili sausage was delicious with the hot guts being my favorite. A little pricey but great food and good portions. Will definitely be back when we come back to Charleston!!

Quite casual. Probably going to be a wait for lunch or dinner; dinner definitely. Daily menu specials. Definitely recommend the sliced brisket. Brisket and ribs looked amazing. Flavor on the ribs (no sauce) was a bit underwhelming. Otherwise everything was top notch.

First, the staff went above and beyond all expectations. They were kind and helpful in anyway they could and unexpected ways. The lady behind the counter handed me a sample of meat to try and it was amazing. I grabbed the brisket sandwich with fries and Mac n cheese. It was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful. I can't wait to tell others and visit again.

Line for food? What line? The staff are exceptional and keep things running fast and smooth, yet they still make you feel the southern hospitality because they chat with you as you order. They cut your meats right in front of you and tray it. The brisket was the best I've ever had.
