Our food was delicious!!! We went there because a Tim wanted conch fritters in the worst way. These didn’t disappoint. I even liked the conch soup! I ordered the grilled mahi with veggies and peas and rice. The fish was cooked perfectly and the veggies were delicious! The peas and rice were fresh and not over cooked. There wasn’t much seasoning on them, so I added a tiny shake of salt. I also asked for a small container of their house made jerk seasoning for my fish. Holy wow was it good. It was spicy, yes. But it was so full of flavor. There was a little lime and a subtle sweetness, and then the flavors that made the heat. I tried to buy some but they don’t sell that for outside consumption. Tim had a mushroom Swiss burger. It was slightly overcooked as he likes his burger med rare to rare but it wasn’t hard, dry or crunchy at all. He is pretty picky and loved it. They also brought us a sample of the house made hot tomato condiment sauce. He added that to a bite of his burger and said the flavor was good but it was way to spicy for him. His burger was so flexible, we asked the waitress if it was really beef! She said yes, of course it is! We didn’t know. Anyway, we would definitely eat there again and would recommend it to anyone who asked.

We got to explore St. Thomas for a few hours when our cruise ship docked and went on a search for some authentic Caribbean food. Upon speaking with some locals and searching google, we discovered Gladys’ Cafe. Are we ever glad that we got to dine here! Unfortunately the oxtails were sold out by the time we arrived (always a good sign!) but we enjoyed their curries and the steamed fish was chefs kiss! Steamed to perfection, just the right amount of seasoning… DELICIOUS! If we ever come back to St Thomas, we will be back and arriving early so not to miss the oxtails.

Recommended by our Taxi driver as the best Local spot on the island. It did not disappoint. If you are lucky, Paulina will be your server, this sweet lady just made our day and suggested the best items on the menu. We had the Jerk Wings, Oxtails, and Grouper Sandwich to eat and for drinks the Fresh Mango slush with rum and Fresh Lemonade.

A must if visiting the island. Just wish we had time to squeeze in another visit while there. The jerk chicken wings were amazing, and I had the best chicken ceasar salad.

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon in St. Thomas, and Gladys' Café was highly recommended. We ate here twice for breakfast and lunch, and both times were phenomenal. The food and service were both top notch. Also, make sure you try the Conch Fritters, they are the best on the island!

The food was fine, simple breakfast fare with no bells or whistles. Not much veggies in the veggie omelette. The waiter was funny, a bit over the top, but very attentive.

Excellent place for a breakfast or lunch. I've had both and both were super tasty with a local flavour. The staff is really nice and welcoming. Check out the art on the walls. Brings the atmosphere up a notch.

This is the place for oxtail in Charlotte Amalie. Classic flavor prepared by a kitchen that understands the nuances of Caribbean cooking. I wish I could eat it every day! A must try while you’re in town.

The food and atmosphere were amazing. The one issue was being able to locate the restaurant, I’ll recommend asking locals for help in finding the restaurant.

Not a fan of the customer service. Vegetables over cooked and had zero flavor. The stew chicken was good. The oxtail was not good(AT ALL). The portion sizes were skimp for the price point. Some days they’re on point some days they aren't. Consistency is key, and unfortunately this place is inconsistent.

We tried Glady's Cafe during our St Thomas visit. It came highly recommended so to our surprise it was a bit of a letdown. We visited for lunch on the first day and had the oxtails with rice and vegetables. Our daughter had grilled chicken with rice and veggies. The oxtails lacked flavor which was very disappointing. They were meaty but the flavor was missing. They did mention they ran out of oxtails earlier in the day but were able to secure another batch before the day ended. Maybe that had something to do with the lack of flavor. Our daughter said her chicken was good but nothing special. The next day we gave them another shot for breakfast this time. I had fish and grits with home fries. My wife had pancakes, bacon, and home fries. Our daughter had an omelette with home fries. Again, the fish lacked flavor and the grits were regular. Our daughter liked the omelette. My wife said the pancakes were good and they were a good size. The home fries had the most flavor out of everything. Being that the restaurant was so highly recommended I was expecting more. All in all it was decent, but nothing I would have to return to.

We got to try Gladys Cafe today for lunch and everything was delicious! The curry chicken is phenomenal and my husband had the special of kingfish. Highly recommend! Our waitress was the cutest lady and so kind! Also of note: best friend plantains we had so far on the island- and we had some at two other local places.

Our first stop in St Thomas aside from our hotel and it was a great start to our trip. Friendly service and yummy sandwiches for lunch! All of the food looked amazing at other tables, we wish we tried a rice dish.

This is black owned restaurant recommended by Locals. They close early so missed lunch. We came for breakfast in our way to airport. We had fish and grits, sausage platter with pancakes. Generous portions and great prices on food and mimosas. We got oxtails to go for lunch. Looks delicious! Service was great! Place is really clean with nice portraits.

Best place in town ( that we found staying for a few days) for breakfast/lunch. Not only in a historic location, but down an incredibly stunning alley way, in the picturesque part of town. Overpriced shopping nearby, so be careful. But the food here is the best and it feels like your IN the Pirates of the Caribbean.

This was a nice hidden gem not to far from the harbor where cruise ships come in. Alot of cruisers seem to find their way here and I know why. Their food is outstanding. You have to go down an alley in the shopping district to get here so it was an adventure in itself. The staff was very accommodating and the food was an absolute treat. Not to mention the bushwhackers which definitely set the tone for the rest of the evening.
