Just went to the desk to ask about canceling my membership. Gentlemen at the counter was fine but a Ms Elain W had something smart to say back to me after everything I said. I joked that Planet Fitness makes it hard to cancel your membership and she responded rudely not us sir it’s Planet Fitness. Obviously I was speaking of Planet Fitness and not the people at the counter. Then she said something else and I gave up speaking to them and wrote this review. Horrible customer service. Nice facility though.

This incident occurred on 12/1/2023 at 5 pm. As I walked into Whitehall Planet Fitness, there were two staff members (one male and one female) behind the desk who were engaged in a conversation but still looked at me without saying welcome as I scanned my membership. There was a third staff member also behind the desk who was engaged in a conversation with a customer. As I walked further in, the third staff member asked me to check in and I informed him that I did. He said that he did not see me. I then interrupted the other two staff members to ask them if they saw me check in. The male staff said "did you check in?" I told him "yes I did," where he proceeds to rudely say "then why are you bothering us?" The female staff member burst into laughter and the one who asked me initially said nothing. Nothing to de-escalate the situation or to come to my aid. I was beyond shocked and did not feel like even starting my workout, but still decided to do a short one. Leaving the gym, the same rude staff member was too busy engaged on his phone at the desk, the female staff member was leaning against the desk with her back to the door. They did not say anything to the customers who were leaving including myself. In addition to this, there were cleaning bottles which were empty and the bathroom was not clean. I will no longer be attending planet fitness and will have to cancel my membership.

This place was great 6 years ago. However the population has boomed in the area in recent years and it is too small for the number of people that it needs to support. This place needs to grow so that there is enough equipment that one is not constantly waiting for a weight machine or ab area.

We are greeted by the front desk staff when we check in as well as departing. The work stations have adequate supplies and work areas are clean for customers usage. The staff provide assistance when needed.

During my travels this week, I visited another planet fitness in NC.. this facility is great as well.. I love the new treadmills and the other patrons working out was ACTUALLY working out and not taking pictures on machines taking up time and space. Establishment employees were courteous and helpful.

Moved out of town for about 2 years. Called to cancel and had to mail in my cancel request vis their policy. They kept charging me regardless. Came back 2 years later and even though they had been charging my card continuously I still owed "missed fees". Of course no refunds, not even for the past month. They were charging my card even though I wouldn't be able to use the gym during the charges. Done with these types of gyms even though they are 75% of all gym types.

Really poor maintenance on tanning beds. All 4 beds have between 5-9 bulbs out in each. I have mentioned it to front desk but there’s been no fixes to the beds.

Decent place for a planet fitness. I came here while my regular gym is closed for renovations. I would have kept my membership as a 2nd gym because it’s close, but they harp on this no gym bag rule. A pointless rule that’s just there for the sake of a rule. So I’ll be cancelling this membership as soon as I can.

I spoke to Elaine on the phone regarding a mixup that was my error with the app. She couldn’t have been more patient or understanding or helpful. I wish I lived closer and could visit this club, because she was amazing, and if she represents even a fraction of the atmosphere, attitude and pleasantry, five stars indeed. Thank you again, Elaine, for all of your help.

I love this location! The employees were very nice and helpful. I will be attending this location moving forward due to an awful experience at the 6025 South Blvd location. The management (especially the light skin lady from New York) and the other employees at that location is VERY rude, unprofessional and does not respect their customers. I ask to speak to the district manager and of course no one took time to call me and at least apologize. Anyways, kudos to this awesome location.

Updating my review from 8 months ago: Still a 1 star due to extremely poor maintenance. This place is a decent size but some equipment needs updating or repairs. I come more for the tanning on my black card membership. The only issue is, these beds have not been maintained or bulbs replaced in 1 year and 4 months that I’ve been coming here. Each bed has 5-10 bulbs out . The same bulbs have been out for 1 year and 4 months (embarrassing!). The buttons for the fan, volume, and on/off face bulbs are broken in some beds as well. I have told MANAGEMENT at LEAST 9 times by now but I can see that they don’t care to do anything about this issue nor do my Google reviews make a difference. I will be reviewing this issue on other sites as well. Hopefully that will make a difference in the upkeep of these poorly maintained tanning beds. I’m not sure what else to do after informing management many times. PLEASE GET NEW BULBS FOR ALL 4 beds PLEASE! They are horrible! I live in this neighborhood so it’s the only planet fitness close to me. Out of the 8 or 9 years I’ve been paying for a planet Fitness membership, this is the worst store I’ve ever been to! Nothing is done about broken equipment or tanning beds.

I have had a terrible experience dealing with the manager Miles from this club. The regional manager was supposed to contact me after I contacted corporate two weeks ago and has yet to do so. I originally had a membership here, but found another location closer to my home. I had concerns about discrimination and asked for the managers information along with corporate. I was given the wrong contact info for corporate. In the interim my membership has been canceled for supposedly using file language which is a fabricated lie once I advised that I was reporting the unprofessional conduct to corporate. However I was allowed to workout continuously and the same day Miles abruptly canceled my membership a payment was taken on site. If I caused an issue why was I allowed to continuously workout and why was I forced to pay for a second membership for my minor child??? Lastly why wasn’t I asked to leave??? I need answers. Miles the manager here told me that he doesn’t believe discrimination exists and hung up in my face. Unbelievable! I am still pending a follow up from corporate and the regional manager whom this far has refused to reach out as well. Another mysterious action was cancelling my membership but refusing to cancel my minor’s membership per. my request. I am saddened by the passive aggressive response from the manager. Dismissing a members valid concern is unacceptable across the board and violates Planet Fitness core values and policies.

I've never been to another gym where it's okay to slam your weights as hard as you want. The alarm never goes off. There is no respect for the equipment or for the people around you. I've been here 6 weeks and it's like that every single day. These people act like they are in a power lifting h.s. gym. I wear my earbuds and still hear it through them.

I went with one of my relatives to start working out. The employee up front was really helpful and because we are in highschool told us about the summer program and helped us sign up. She was super nice, I wasn't able to catch her name but I will update when I go this Saturday if she's there. Good equipment, love the environment and atmosphere people create for each other here so far. Keep up the good work :)

Always clean, always friendly. I'm usually hitting this PF up after driving Rideshare all night and I'll do the massage chairs. The other morning as I checked in, the attendant asked me right away if. I wanted a massage chair? Sweet, they remembered me! I felt special!

As I was performing those critical abdominal crunches—you know, the reps just before you get a cramp in your abs. I looked up and noticed the sign “PF = no critics”. I said to myself, this my kind of place.

Location is convenient. The biggest issue with planet fitness is the 49 annual BS fee. Especially on the 24.99 plan. This is only a thing with chain gyms. Every local gym Ive ever been charges just a monthly membership rate. This is just a ploy to scam 49 more a year out of people to pay for the tootsie rolls I suppose.

I’ve been a member here for a few months now and this place is nasty. The bathroom and locker room are always filthy. The only reason the equipment is clean is because the customers wipe it down when they get done using it. There are multiple pieces of equipment that are broken and have been taped off now for weeks. The staff actually could care less whether you’re having a good experience or not. Now the water fountain is broken. How can you have a gym that doesn’t have a working water fountain? I asked one of the staff members when it would be working and she gave me attitude like, “why are you even bothering me with this”. She actually told me that I was more than welcome to buy water from them. I can’t wait until the Lake Wylie Planet Fitness is open. Stay away from this place if you can.

I’ve been at this gym for a long time. 4 to 5 years. The staff does nothing all shift. Just sit around at the desk. Paper towels can be empty, bottles and people constantly slamming weights. While staff will sit up front twiddling their thumbs. If this wasn’t the closest gym to home, I would’ve left a long time ago. And then there’s the over congestion of members. Where you can’t get a single machine or dumbbell Monday through Thursday. Avoid this gym! Better off driving the extra miles somewhere else.

Location definitely needs their floors cleaned more. Every time you pick up a dumbbell from off the floor there’s dirt all over it and the rack itself is pretty filthy. the stretching area floor is not attended to so gross to lay on the floor to do abs or stretch. Places generally always out of paper towels at multiple stations and low levels in sanitizer bottles. Needs to be attended to more.

Calvin and Colleen are 5 star employees very polite and funny. Gym is always clean.

Best greeting I've ever had entering, as well high energy in the building pushes you to give full potential on workout I enjoyed my visit at this location!

I go to the one at White Parc Hall. I like how they live up to their standards. No one is judging me, I can work out at my own pace, and their Black Card Spa Rooms are top notch. A proper finisher after a needed session.

Nice facility with a good sort of equipment. Easy to park. Nice friendly staff.

I visit this club a couple of days per week. A fairly large gym with lots of different equipment, but the downfall to the extra equipment is spacing (particularly in the dumbbell/smith machine area). If I am using the bench at the dumbbells for one arm over bench curls, reverse flyes, etc. or to stretch, I am only a couple of feet away from the smith machine behind me. There is also very little space between the benches and the rack of dumbbells for this reason as well. Most everything else is okay, but I really wish they could alter the floor plan a bit to give more room in this area. Staff is always friendly and I am usually able to get my workout in in a timely manner. Not my home club, but it is closer to work, so I can get a quick workout at lunch.

The showers were nasty. One is particularly clogged that the water was running into the hallway. The men’s locker room, half the lockers are broken that you can’t lock your personal belongings. Many of the faucets in the men’s bathroom don’t work at appropriate pressure and one doesn’t work at all. I would have taken pictures, but it was in the bathroom/locker room. This gym location need maintenance and upkeep.

Basic gym, nothing fancy but it gets the job done. Often quite busy when I go but that doesn’t prevent me from getting to the machines, sometimes I just have to do stuff in a different order.
