A big open, high ceilinged pub close to Great Portland Street underground station. A fine selection of keg beers on offer along with a couple of cask ales and Rosie's Pig for the cider drinkers. Lovely service and staff busy dishing up burgers for those on solids. A super pub in a busy location. A good stop!

🚇 Great Portland Street 🍺 £7.15 Asahi ❤️ An attractive corner pub with plenty to keep you entertained. . The Albany is located at the top end of Great Portland Street where Fitzrovia meets Marylebone. The nearest Tube is Great Portland Street which is just opposite the pub. . This attractive corner pub was built 1869 and then rebuilt in 1898. This Victorian boozer has recently been lovingly refurbished and reopened its doors in April this year. . This is a large pub which has the main bar at ground level, if you head downstairs there is a basement bar which hosts entertainment. The refurb has been very sympathetic to this pubs Victorian heritage. There are some beautiful features like the tile panelled servery and the beautifully restored columns. Overall the pub feels bright and airy and feels a nice place to spend time in. . The beer line up was impressive, there is an extensive craft, keg and cask selection to choose from. From time to time the pub hosts tap take overs, independent breweries from across the UK get to showcase their brews. After a bit of indecision, I decided on a pint of Asahi. I really enjoyed my pint, price point was to be expected as most pubs retail this beer at around seven quid. The food menu was full of British pub classics, Fish & Chips costs £16.50. . I arrived with my Son just before 9pm on a Friday evening back in June. There was an upbeat buzz about the place with a good mix of punters. Some were enjoying drinks, a few were trying out the food, both pub disciplines were well catered for. My Son and I sat around a poser table watching a bit of Glasto on one of the screens dotted around the bar. This pub has loads on to keep you entertained. There are midweek themed quizzes, live sports from Sky and BT, down in the basement bar are Comedy, Cabaret and Music nights put on throughout the month. . @thealbanyw1w was a pleasant visit, both my Son and I really enjoyed our time here. This pub is a bit of a Swiss army knife, there are so many things to do here aswell as just have a drink or something to eat. Overall, a very positive experience. 🍻 . ℹ️ Info correct 23.06.23

The closest pub to the hostel we are staying in and they actually have the Premier League on during opening weekend! So many other pubs had boxing and rugby. This also had a pretty rowdy atmosphere and vibe which was great for a Friday night when the usual subdued pub environment isn’t always desirable. Food is classic pub fare and the draft beer offerings were solid. The assistant manager, I forget his name, was super friendly and helpful, made the experience even better.

This is a fantastic place. I popped in for a quick beer and found a great range of beers available. I went for jaipur on draft as I can't resist it. Beer was well poured and kept. Right temp for me too! Gideon, who served me, was knowledgeable and very polite. Hope to be back soon. Thank you.

Called in last night as I hoped it would be open on the Bank Holiday, it was. There was no cask ale available, but that wasn't a problem to me. There was a wide selection of keg beers available. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Definitely on my list of decent local pubs

This place is cool. Great selection of drinks, the staff are really friendly. The manager set me up with a specific match I wanted to watch on the TV. Very good atmosphere, nice crowd, mellow and friendly, but nice people. Bar food was okay. A good experience overall!

The service is really friendly, especially Adrian, great guy! And we (me and my two daughters) really enjoyed the food. We watched f1 while eating. Decided to eat here for a second time; Nico, Alina and Liviu (don’t come at me if I wrote your name wrong) their service was really good.

I absolutely love this pub. The atmosphere there is impeccable. The staff is also very good. I want to give kudos to Mari who was our bartender. She's a really good bartender, with a big smile and an eye for good service. Give that woman a raise!

Awesome spot to watch all the World Cup rugby action yesterday. Great service and all the good stuff on tap. We had the sausage roll as a snack and with hot mustard was awesome! Then later we shared the fish and chips, the mushy peas were awesome, great food, drinks and service, good times all around 🤙🏻

This has been a regular haunt of mine for a number of years and is a pretty great pub. They always have a really good range of draft beers. Plus some hard to find bottles... The food is good and the menu has a pretty decent range. It's busy so if you are going don't expect there to be a table and book ahead.

Lovely pub with quite tasty food! It’s very reminiscent of a classic pub vibe with a wide selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Great vibe after work for friends who want to hang out as well.

Came here with my Mum for some lunch, we both had the duck salad and it was incredible! Flavourful and delicious. I use a wheelchair so it was good to see an easily accessible doorway and also an accessible toilet. Everywhere was clean and the atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed. The music was blaring out, I have some sensory issues so this made for a pleasant change. Staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. Great choice of food and drink. Highly recommend a visit here.

The food was superb. Good value for London. The "Boss" burgers were amazing and included a drink as well in the Price. The manager, although incredibly busy, was attentive and helpful and worked with me to make sure our large party of 12 were able to place our orders and have the food arrive all together. The rest of the staff were equally helpful. There was a good selection of beers and lagers available. I would not hesitate to visit again. Thank you to the Albany team for assisting in creating a very enjoyable work event/meal. thanks Neal

On the many times I have visited this venue over the 7 or 8 years since being forced to relocate with my work, I am now local to this pub and am so thrilled to have found a decent, friendly establishment with really helpful staff that go the extra mile to ensure that all of their customers enjoy the optimal experience of enjoying either a great lunch, dinner or evening experience. First class! A very ecclectic clientele which makes for an interesting time ☺️

I visited The Albany today with some friends for drinks and dinner. I cannot recommend this place enough! It has the classic pub charm whilst also providing stunning food. I would recommend the sausage and mash, the pie, and the fish and chips. The service was phenomenal, I was served by a barman called Adrian who walked me through all the drink options and catered to all our needs. We will certainly visit again.

Go for the beer, skip the food. Stopped in for a burger last night. The place was hopping, so I went downstairs where it was quieter. The bar tender was very cordial and let me taste the beer before ordering as I wasn't familiar with any of their offerings which was very nice. I ordered the bacon and cheese British burger at 12.95 pounds (sorry my keyboard doesn't have the pound symbol). While a decent burger, for the price it should have been a lot better. The pint of beer I had was excellent though.

Update - came here with a group of 11 people. In addition to drinks we shared the really tasty menu of bar snacks that were cooked to order. A lady called Suh gave us enthusiastic and helpful service. Great traditional pub right by Great Portland Street tube station. Was busy on a Thursday night but staff managed to give quick service. I didn't eat here but the food looked good. Good beer selection and cask beers are now back on. Seating and standing room inside but people also drinking out on the street which created a nice vibe.

It's nothing special but is a good pub. They currently have a really nice Signature beer on, and normally have one or two interesting beers on draught. Convenient location too.

It was a great atmosphere. Lots of people. It was quite busy but everybody had his own place where to stay. We ordered some drinks and food during the football match, and the communication with the waiter was amazing as we have been told that the kitchen was opening back in 45 minutes and then we would have been able to order food. A simple and delicious hummus with flat bread, a very nice cheesy fries, and surprisly an amazing beef croquettes. Very happy. Thank you

A great vibe and good spot to watch the footie. A group of friends and I watched the final last night and there was a good atmosphere in there. Plenty of friendly banter between the spectators, but definitely not rowdy or aggressive. The bar staff were a great bunch, a special shout out to Mi. She provided great service all night and always had a smile on her face, regardless to how outrageous our drinks orders were. A great spot!

Amazing! AMAZING! Came in last week & was pleasantly surprised, great atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced considering location I was served by a gentleman called Naz, he was really polite & engaging. his customer service was amazing. Really made us feel a priority even though it was busy. Will be returning soon! Thanks for a great evening.

Reasonable selection of beers, although we seemed to somehow pick the one they did not have in stock anymore. And beer from cans somehow doesn't feel right. But great tastes, though. Spacious. A bit better sound dampening would be welcome (echoes). High and low chairs available. Friday evening and not too busy, so that was great too. Ordering via QR code to get service at the table worked fine and service was almost instant. But not my thing. But overall: nice place to go for drinks and some nuts/snacks.

I’ve only been here once and I love it already. The staff and owner is really friendly and the decorum of this place is a beautiful aesthetic. 100/10 would recommend!

Went for a Sunday Roast and it was a great experience. The order was through the website that you can find with the QR code on the table. Had a few issues with the online payment but was smooth in the end. There was no much time to wait for the food and drinks. When a small plate was forgotten to bring to the table the waitress apologised immediately and gave us a small treat. Good environment in the pub as well.
