A place so special you don’t want to tell anyone about it, but then you also want it to be around for a long long time. This is THE quintessential neighborhood pub with friendly service and down to earth traditional American fare. The twice baked stuffed potatoes are served from 4 pm onwards and they are DELICIOUS!

Cute little neighborhood tavern/restaurant in uptown. We had no trouble getting a table early on a Tuesday evening. By 7pm it was packed. Very family friendly. Full bar, beer and wine, TVs for sports watching, street parking only. We ordered the What It Is Cajun pasta (good but not spicy, in case you’re wondering) and the black bean burger (not very good, no flavor) with onion rings. Food was pretty good, service was very attentive.

Great food, atmosphere and beer. Wonderful pub that's been around the QC since the 80's Super nice and quick service. My husband's first time here, he enjoyed it, got the fish sandwich, it was huge.

Such a wonderful spot in Charlotte nestled amongst the historic Victoria era homes in the 4th Ward. Owner on site seating patrons, great service, and fantastic food made this a memorable Friday night. Now I know why nobody told me about this place...they wanted it all for themselves! Try the jalapeno beer...it's awesome.

Loved Alexander Michael‘s. Such a cozy, cute place. The service was fantastic and the food, even better. We shared the nachos and the chips had to have been homemade. They were outrageous. I had an old childhood favorite, beef stroganoff. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was absolutely delicious. The onion rings were crunchy and not soggy. They had a really good beer and wine list too. Will definitely go back.

Always a delight to be here. We ordered What it is, Black bean burger and for the first time dessert - Blueberry Lemon cheesecake. The burger wasn’t as I expected but that’s fine we tried something new. What it is is my all time favorite dish to order. This time ordered extra sauce yummm. Blueberry Lemon cheesecake was amazing. Perfect balance of flavors for us. Don’t think twice just order it!

Nice, old time, pub feeling. Parking is non-existant, so prepare for a hike to build up your appetite. You're in luck, food is great. Service was very good, and pleasant to deal with. Pricing is a bit on the high side, but not out of line. Place has some history as well. I'd recommend this place.

Stopped here for lunch with some friends. This was a place that was on my list of places I’ve been wanting to try. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. I was impressed by how delicious and tender the chicken was and the fries were legit homemade french fries!! They used a pretzel bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Service was quick and great as expected. The place is a unique looking restaurant/pub. I look forward to going back and trying more from their menu. They made a really good chicken sandwich so I’m sure the rest of the food is phenomenal! I would highly recommend stopping here for lunch/dinner or just a drink!

Best pasta in Charlotte 🎉 I really happy with ** What It Is * Blackened chicken breast over fresh rotini in a Cajun cream sauce. Served with parmesan on the side Definitely recommended

What a great find. I'm from Louisiana and normally do not order seafood outside of state, but decided to give it a try. The blackened fish sandwich was better than most I have had in New Orleans. Atmosphere was cozy and homely feel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If I travel back to Charlotte in the future, this will be a must, every time!!!!. Great Job to the owner and staff!!!

This place is a hidden Gem! You have to try this place. From the very attractive neighborhood to the old building it's in. The atmosphere of an old time pub is awesome and the food is great. The service is top notch! The Shrimp Marsala was awesome and the London Broil Flank Steak was ok.

We ordered the black bean hummus, fried pickles, veggie burger and blackened cat fish. Everything tasted great. The hummus was very mild and it lacked extra flavor. The veggie burger also needs a little more of seasoning. I removed the red onion because the flavor of the quinoa pattie was overpowered by the onion. The onion rings were great. My husband had the fish and he really liked it. There are very few vegetarian options, including the black bean hummus and veggie burger. We ordered the warm brownie for desserts and this was the only item that didn't impress us. It was more of a dry chocolate cake. Overall we liked everything about this place. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The waiter was very polite and knew the menu. The food was ready in a timely manner. The place was clean. Parking can be difficult on a busy day. We spent $60 including tip. We will definitely be back to try other items.

Not only is the bar giving cozy old times tavern vibes, but the neighborhood is absolutely beautiful. I was here during the holiday season and it was absolutely charming to walk around the neighborhood. Food is solid, service friendly, lot of regulars. Great place for a comfort meal.

Haven't been in a while...but it hasn't lost its touch! Located in the historic district of Charlotte it looks like a storybook! You will never be disappointed! I always recommend the she-crab soup, the blackened catfish entree, London broil...it can be a bit tendony sometimes but it is still amazing. Also the honey chicken pasta. For dessert, the oreo cheesecake! The establishment is small can get a little tight in there, but WORTH IT! ONLY 1 STALL bathrooms so keep that in mind when you're drinking🍸. The staff is always so sweet and attentive! Prices varies depending on what you order.

Such a cute romantic place to go for a first or second date…. And then come back again. The food is amazing. What it is IS soooo good. Great selection beers on tap also. They’re usually pretty busy so you might have a little wait but what is perfect about that is you can grab a drink from the bar or take a stroll around the beautiful neighborhood it hides in. Five stars every time!!!!!!!

I'm always on search of good pasta so when i saw a few reviews mention the honey glazed chicken pasta i wanted to give it a try and it did not disappoint! Great portion size & it was delicious! Will definitely be back for the pasta. My fiance' said his hoagie was good! Cute location, i could see how parking could be difficult but we were able to find a close spot.

This was our first visit. From the time we arrived to the time we left everything was outstanding. They should be commended for a 99.5 sanitation score. The service was surprisingly top shelf at a time when many restaurants are struggling to get servers and kitchen help. Brittany, our server, was extremely attentive and always pleasant. The food was better than the "unpretentious" label attached to it. Everything was fresh and tasty. No doubt we will return.

I always love it when we come here. This is always been a place me and my family goes to. The staff is always so nice, friendly and up on their tables. Most importantly, every time we enter the door someone is always right their to greet us and are ready to seat us immediately. This makes it so welcoming for the guests. We have also got all the laughs just as they do with the pole in the woman's bathroom. The amount of times I even almost run into it is funny 🤣 and I know that it is there. 🤣🤣 Thank you to all Alexandra Michael's staff! It was and still will be an absolute blessing to go there. 🤗

This place is amazing! Our server Jaime was absolutely great. She recommended menu items even without us having to ask. My wife and I shared the fried pickles and let me tell you, those pickles are a must-try. Hear me now, believe me later! My wife got a salad and it was huge. I got the blackened fish sandwich with fries. Anytime I come to Charlotte and want to go out to eat I'm going to Alexander Michael's and so should you.
