Was wandering around the city for something to eat on my first day visiting Charlotte, NC. Found this lovely hidden gem and you know what they say when they are hidden in a nook, it was amazingly delicious. The vibe itself and the people were friendly! Their catchy phrase and energy will draw you in. The burritos are big and refreshing than others I’ve tried. They are welcoming to first visitors in their store! If I ever get a chance to visit Charlotte again, I’m going straight to this place again and inviting some friends.

Went here for lunch. A cool, unique place with a line a mile long. It moves fast and is worth it. There is a guy at the front who gives you the basics on ordering if you're a 1st timer. It's super helpful and he does a great job. The food was great with several different meat options (you can combine 2 meats if you can't choose) and all sorts of toppings. I got a bowl and it was delicious. Check them out

This was an awesome lunch. The people here were very friendly and welcoming. We had the burrito and the tamales. Both were really good. I got the hot sauce and it was seriously hot but very good. This is our ne lunch spot! I love it. They do take cc but there is a cash discount.

This was my first time here and the staff and service were so friendly! Skip over Chipotle and come here instead!!! There’s no extra charge for queso or guac and supporting small businesses is always better! Since it was my first time here, I got some candy and a key chain. They also give you a tiny pack of gum with your meal. The burrito was delicious and I loved their special hot sauce. I will definitely come back here when I’m craving a burrito and will never go to Chipotle in Charlotte again!

This was a great place for lunch and a hidden gem of a place for a first time Charlotte visitor. I ate the steak and chicken burrito bowl. Really enjoyed the Cheeriwine (don't have that in Louisiana). Thank you Chris and owner Johnny for your delicious fresh-Mex! Look forward to finding more great Charlotte discoveries during my stay here. 5 of 5 stars!!! 👍😊👍

Found via google search while in town for work. Got there at 2 and just missed the rush. Super friendly staff, cool atmosphere, killer burrito. 11/10 will come again.

Great place!!! Great, fresh and delicious food, friendly owner and staff!! So many options, all look delicious and appetizing, so I'll have to come back and try them all. Small place that's worth looking for and coming early. I'll try and come again early, so I can try the handmade tamales, served on Tuesday and Friday.

Three stars for the service, portions and price. The rice is always bland, but the meat is always good. This place is seriously overrated. It’s not a bad place, but it’s not exceptional either. Good people and there’s lots of options but the flavors are whitewashed for the usual suspects (city workers, constructions crews with a few corporate types thrown in). If they could improve the beans, rice and tortilla chips then I think they would be worthy of people overrating of five stars and I genuinely mean that. I want to see them continue to succeed but they need to bring the food up to the standards of authentic Mexican food. Mexican food is AWESOME and Johnny Burritos food is not awesome, it’s just OK to Fair….

A Charlotte staple! They’ve been here forever. I’ll be honest, I am not big on burritos. These burritos are the ONLY ones that I will eat. Very flavorful and Johnny ALWAYS creates an awesome atmosphere for customers. First time customers get a free bottle-opener (don’t forget to grab one). If you’re visiting from out of town, this place is a MUST!

Freaking love this place. Burritos are huge! Prices are fair especially for the portion. Owner is super friendly retired military. They have Sundrop slushies all sorts of drinks and snacks too. It's chipotle/cava style you go down the line and pick your ingredients for your burrito. The chicken and the steak are a really good combo in a burrito. The guacamole is ok. Lots of toppings to choose and everything tastes very fresh. Big downside is they're only open until 3pm weekdays. I would kill to get one of these burritos late night! Couldn't even get a pic because I couldn't wait to get into this burrito.

Food was great! Being your own boss of ingredients including meat for one price was super cool. Could have done without the wondering eyes and drool from the men working there though.

The line was long but moved so fast, so definitely don't let that discourage you from staying. When we got to the front, we received a very warm greeting, explanation on the ordering process and recommendations based on local favorites. We also received a bottle opener for being first timers. The service was fast and the food was amazing!!! So yummy!!! Tender and juicy spicy chicken, perfectly spiced salsa, great pico and more the enough ingredients to add in. Prices were very reasonable considering the huge portions. Will definitely be back when we visit Charlotte again.

10/10 would recommend stopping here for lunch! The staff is very nice and the food is amazing! Definitely worth the stop. Thank you for being kind and welcoming! I am only in town for a short stay on a business trip and am very happy that I stubbled across this place

Long standing local spot you should try at least once. Don't be put off by lack of seating and long line. The line moves quickly, and you can enjoy the food elsewhere. Johnny himself mans the register and has been in business for 20 years. On your first trip he'll give you a brief history and a souvenir bottle opener. He gives discounts to contractors and the food is great. So help keep this place going for another 20.

Charlotte's best kept secret. The burritos are great and the price is fair as well. There is a reason why the line is always so long around lunch time. With a variety of choices for your burrito- you won't be disappointed. That being said, the tamales are average at best. They are a bit dry for my liking.

We stopped by for a quick lunch! We are a family of mixed presences (veg and non veg, spicy and not spicy). A manager who greeted us, made sure the line was moving quickly and everyone was informed about their options. The owner welcomed us at the register and before we knew, we were full and happy. The place is a hidden gem obviously loved by the locals. The food is amazing and the people are efficient and personable! Big thank you’s to the Owner, the Manager and the staff! Please, don’t stop doing what you are doing!

Delicious and tasty food! I saw the amazing reviews and when I ordered the regular chicken burrito and at first it looked underwhelming. However when I bit into it, the burrito tasted amazing. I will definitely order the Big Burrito next time!

I’ve heard good things about this place. I went for lunch today. The line moved fast and the staff was awesome. The burrito on the other hand wasn’t all that great. The meat was cold and the rice was over cooked. This is the first time I’ve been so I’ll probably give it a second chance…

One of the best burritos you will ever have! Johnny and team makes sure you have a good experience whether you are a “rookie” or experienced customer. Whenever you are in the Charlotte area be sure to stop by Johnny Burrito.

Tried this place while visiting Charlotte for a convention. Only took a few minutes to walk here from Charlotte convention center. The line looked long, but moved quickly. There was a guy that came through the line, handed out “rookie” cards for first time customers and explained the ordering process, which was very helpful. Was a little daunting to keep up the ordering pace, but everyone including Johnny himself was so friendly and I didn’t feel terribly rushed. The food is DELICIOUS. Definitely a fun and satisfying experience.
