I had outpatient surgery on the February 3, 2022. All of the staff were completely awesome. They keep me well informed and made my time there very pleasant. The only downside was my pre-op visit on January 28, 2022. The staff providing information about the dos and don't before my surgery and who took my blood were terrific, however, the lady processing paperwork caused my anxiety and worry. Obviously, we are at the beginning of the year and I was told I had to over $2,800 upfront before my surgery. She never provided a payment plan, or that I could have been billed after. I panic and paid upfront on my credit card, and completely had anxiety afterwards. I wanted to cry since I already had to pay my doctor upfront. The fear of not being able to have my surgery done, forced me to place that large amount on my credit card because I wasn't given any other options. Having a major surgery comes with it own anxiety, but to double it because I was forced to pay upfront and given no other options was extremely disappointing. I called the hospital on January 31, 2022 and actually provided options then. I work full-time, and have insurance through my job. Just hope in the future, people are provided options, which I was not.

Longest wait times ever for anyone to follow up...orders not communicated to staff in a timely manner... having to get medical attention in a hallway, even after being admitted to the hospital. Very uncomfortable being walked over by staff during day shifts...not being given meals in a timely manner as well...overall... not a good experience at all... immediate nurses and caretakers were fine. The surgeons and charge nurse were very dismissive and condescending... I would never recommend anyone come to this facility in it's present state.

The spinal block given to me during my C Section did not work and I could feel the doctor cutting into my skin with the sharp blade. After screaming in pain, my husband was asked to leave. I was eventually put completely to sleep and did not see the birth of my child. I repeatedly told Dr. Janardhanam that I was not numb and do not continue. Instead of listening to me, he told the doctor who was performing the surgery to continue. I would not recommend for a child birth, especially a C Section due to this anesthesiologist. I do not want anybody else to experience the pain or trauma this endured.

If you need care, DO NOT COME HERE!!! I repeat, DO NOT COME here!!! I would have left ZERO stars if I could. I brought my daughter to the ER after a sudden severe headache, blurry vision, and passing out. You would have thought I brought her for a splinter. No compassion, no care, no empathy AT ALL!!! Coming in here is like coming to the worst prison hospital imaginable. The bathrooms were horrible, there was a huge LIVE roach on the floor, sanitation was terrible. If you weren't sick when you came in, you will be when you leave. More security guards than medical staff. I will be filing a complaint with the medical board and any other entity that governs our medical systems of care. I am currently waiting to speak with the charge nurse and I will update after I do.

This place deserves no stars!! I was admitted and the first thing out of the nurses mouth was,"they know how we are on staff but they just keep sending them up". I was then taken into my room where it took another 4-5 hours before a doctor came to see me. Then for hours at a time I was left in my room, in agonizing pain, unattended & ignored. Even after pressing the call button & requesting assistance. When I finally had enough & wanted to seek care else where they decide to tell me if I wanted to leave they were not going to release me & that I would have to pay out of pocket for going against doctor's orders & refused to take the IV's out of my arms!!! This place is absolutely atrocious!! Go to another ER or hospital if you ACTUALLY WANT CARE!!!

My experience after a recent visit is that the staff are very dedicated. They treat the patients with respect and dignity. They are responsive and pleasant. Iā€™m speaking specifically about the staff on one particular floor where I visited a relative. My concern has to do with the lack of basic supplies. The administration of this hospital needs to understand that patient experience and healing very much depend on their ability to have the supplies they need. Staff should not have to go searching other parts of the facility for basic supplies. Iā€™ll stop here.

I've read some of the reviews, and I will say I did not have those issues. I went to the ER about 3 weeks ago with what the ER felt was the possibility of a stroke. I do appreciate how quickly they got me back into the ER and proceeded with the Stroke protocol, and over a 36 hour period, it was ruled out. I stayed in the ER observation area but truly had great service from the nursing staff and other healthcare workers as well as the PA's and physicians. Every hospital all over the world is understaffed, especially since the pandemic started. If I needed something, I asked for it. Also, I was there with my hubby a month before. No bed, we were in the hallway in the ER, but no complaints. They took good care of him and showed compassion with me. All of their beds on the floors and in the ER were filled. Yet still, he received timely and appropriate care. We are both grateful!!

I was not given the proper treatment at all...they had me sleeping in a hall in excruciating pain... only to put me into a room for little over a half a day...then turn me out still in unbearable pain..I was misdiagnosed all the way around... found out at another facility here in Charlotte that it was a ruptured ulcer... surgeons definitely did not do any kind of job on trying to help me find the problem . I definitely wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone in real pain..the overall staff is nonchalant and uncaring. There are a few good employees sprinkled among them but not many.

My daughter was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after I found her unresponsive in the bathroom. I informed the EMT's and kept reiterating that I believe she had fallen after I heard a loud noise in the bathroom. When they arrived she was not conscious but breathing and her oxygen was low. She remained in the hospital a few hours was given an IV for dehydration and oxygen. No xray, no CAT scan or bloodwork was performed. I am from New York and just moved here but I assumed the medical protocol would be universal for possible head trauma. The protocol usually entails overnight observation. Now I am sitting here on pins and needles watching my daughter and praying there are no ill after effects from her fall. I will say that 911 was prompt in dispatching help and the EMT's were amazing.

My husband was admitted for an emergency surgery. I found this hospital to be clean, the staff was attentive and the MD/RN's were incredibly informative. Within a 12 hour period, I received multiple updates. Everyone was very thorough and genuine... AND it was Christmas! Our family is incredibly grateful for their hard work and services. Thank you!

I am not hard to please so for me to say this place was horrible it was just that. I had a baby through cesarean in 2021 and I experienced so much in a 3 day stay. 1st off the nurse turnover was so bad. Nurses wasnā€™t staying their whole shifts. Each nurse that came in pretty much had the same story saying the nurse that was before them was sent home early. Some of the nurses was pulled from another floor. There were times I didnā€™t see a nurse in several hours, mind you I had a c-section and needed pain meds around the clock. The second day, I was in so much pain and was crying uncontrollably because the pain was so unbearable because I havenā€™t seen a nurse to administer meds on time. I had to call three times crying for a nurse to come and a poor nurse finally came after an hour or more of calling and she told me that they were short staffed and she was working two maternity wings. I instantly felt so bad for her but at the same time I was neglected for hours without medication because the lack of staffing. With all of the pain and neglect, I still had to take care of my newborn baby. My baby only went to see a nurse once and that was for shots. Then I was hit with almost 1,900 bill for me and a 1,800 bill for my baby after insurance. I tried contacting someone to complain, I even contacted my OBGYN to complain but gotten nowhere. I feel like that wasnā€™t fair at all how I was treated and I was hit with expensive out of pocket costs on top of that. I keep getting calls to pay but I had to literally beg for adequate service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!

I came to this place with my daughter and was horrified by the way they treated her. She was in tremendous pain, vomiting and passed out three times. The staff was terrible & extremely rude and insensitive. I was begging them to help her to only be told to sit down and wait. We waited 6 hrs with my daughter in such a terrible state. Her appendix almost burst and she had to be rushed into emergency surgery. She could have died if it would have burst. Please donā€™t go to that hospital if you value your life.

What if your loved one a stroke survivor that is paralyzed and non verbal and was starved almost to the point of death? What if your loved one was then transferred to Atrium University Hospital and got pneumonia? Would you think the staff repositioned her? They know the protocol for bed bound patients. What if the nursing staff didnā€™t clean your loved ones feeding tube site and she got an infection? What if your loved one came home from the Atrium Healthcare system after 25 days and came home with bedsores that the staff didnā€™t even know had developed? Would you want Dr Jonathan Shraga to treat your hamster? Surely, a doctor would feed his pets, so why not your loved one? Atrium boast of an excellent rating! If that were true by any measure why did they so boldly allow any patient to endure such blatant negligence? I want answers. Calling them hasnā€™t helped. My loved one is now yet another hospital that is not an Atrium facility!!! What should we do? You would certainly think your loved one was thoroughly bathed and moisturized at least once daily? You would hope for gentle compassion for such a delicate soul that hadnā€™t had any nutrition for 17 days. Your loved one deserves white glove care What if your loved was on nausea meds that were discontinued before almost an hour ride home on ambulance? What if your loved one was so sick that the EMTs would leave them at home with a care team waiting there to care for you because they were afraid What if the EMTs allowed your loved one to be cleaned up before taking them to yet a third hospital that is not an atrium facility? What if while cleaning your loved one up you saw this Unbelievably all of these things happened to my loved one. Not at one but two atrium hospitals! This can only be a horribly example of the disparities in healthcare systems!! I'm disgusted and I want the entire world to know!!! ,

My Mother was brought to the ER at this location on 4/4/23. After her test she was scheduled to transfer to the location in Concord for a procedure that they canā€™t perform here. The transfer process started around 2pm. It is now 4:40 am, 4/5/23 and still no sign of transport. This process has been handled so poorly. The ER staff provided excellent service however whoever is in charge of transport truly deserves no stars, but you have to leave at least one to post your comment. Please remind yourselves that one poor area of service can easily take away from another, get your act together. My family and I look forward to filling out the survey and sending this information up the chain of command.

My grandmother was transferred from the Atrium emergency room in Huntersville to this hospital (one atrium to another) and none of her medical records were given to the university hospital. We told the EMT's what her meds were and gave them a bag with her meds in them and other belongings. The EMT's assured us University would be informed of everything. She was in this hospital for 2 days before we realized that she wasn't given ANY of her daily prescription meds. At this point she was delirious. The doctor and nurses neglected to call us to ask about her medical history. When i spoke to the nurse about why she was delirious the nurse specifically said she did not know yet. She was delirious since the night before according to the nurses and when i got there it past lunch time. Their excuse for her meds was that she was competent enough to let them know what they were (she's 84 years old and going into a hospital!!) Once they were officially briefed on everything, we noticed that every time a nurse walked into her room, they did not read her chart prior to know any details about her. We were told by two nurses that walked in her room to treat her that they knew nothing about her medical history and they had to pull out their phones to read us what the other nurses had done and to see her medical history which lead us to have to inform each one that entered the room while we were able to be there. They didn't seem to care about whether she was eating or not as well. The management is terrible and no one here seemed to know what was going on unless they had already been in the room before. The nurses and doctors will put the blame everyone else. We unfortunately couldn't be there 24/7 but with how our world is now, no one can be trusted. Do not trust this place. They also did not keep her clean. I'm not going into details about this. I just want ya'll to know. I hope this helps you or your loved ones

I came in at 37 weeks pregnant on New Yearā€™s Day with a fever and not feeling the baby kick and they saw me and treated me immediately. They gave me Tylenol for the fever and monitored my baby and said she was healthy, and the doctors and nurses were much kinder than at the novant Presbyterian hospital uptown where the nurse treated me rudely and made me feel uncomfortable. Even at the front desk I felt much better than at the other hospital and the security guard was nice. It turned out I had covid even though I am fully vaxxed but no one was mean to me despite of it and had no trouble answering my questions before sending me home.

The ER is not for kids! My child had a 103 fever and wasnā€™t eating or drinking. They gave her Tylenol and sent her home. The next day I took her to Levines children hospital where she tested positive for mrsa and needed emergency surgery. I also delivered here and while the nurses were amazing I didnā€™t like the social worker who threatened me with cps because I missed a few of my prenatal appointments (which I rescheduled). I also think thereā€™s a camera in the rooms? If not it definitely looks like one and made me uncomfortable. I definitely wonā€™t be back.

When you are preparing to have a baby the last thing you want to deal with is nonchalant medical staff. It is your duty to see to the patients needs in a professional and civil manner. If you can't do this basic task please quit your job. Consider the stress you put your patients under when they cannot receive the basic care they pay for with these exorbitant visit costs. As a team please do a better job, it's only someone's health and well being on the line.

My mom is currently in this hospital. And she has been told since 9:30 am she was going to be discharged. And now at 10:20 pm they found that the doctor did not put something in her chart. But yet they are still talking about discharging her. When her health insurance has done paid for the entire day. I have NEVER EVER heard of a hospital discharging a patient this late at night. Not to mention the added turmoil they are adding to my mom. Because she is unable to actually rest. Because she has been waiting to be discharged. This is the absolute worse service I have experienced when it comes to a hospital.

Incredible staff that was a 10 star for me in terms of customer/patient service. Each staff member was attentive with outstanding and caring communication skills. This hands down is the best hospital experience (not many) that I've been part of and also the best I've seen talking to friends at other hospitals with much less attentiveness to their needs. If I get ill again, this is far and above is my preferred choice to return.

Brought my friend in for severe pain and they brought her back for a urine test at 12:30. It is currently 2:35 and we have seen nobody since and have not given anything to help with their pain. There is also human fluids such as urine and blood in the lobby waiting room floor. I understand being busy and overwhelmed but when somebody is crying of pain in the lobby and it has been noticed, you would think somebody would help them out while they waited.

Do NOT go to this hospital. They will take you for everything you have if you can not pay your medical debt. They have over 2,500 open lawsuits against patients that can not pay them back, and will go after spouses of dead patients. They will try to make you take out loans with private equity-backed lender AccessOne that can come with interest rates as high as 13%.

Came in with my child to be seen for a respiratory issue. I was pleasantly surprised that we actually didnā€™t have to wait long at all. We got serviced in less than an he after arriving. The only reason why I didnā€™t give 5 stars is bc I was told that they donā€™t perform asthma tests.. which is wild to me because this is a Hospital! I donā€™t understand how a basic pulmonary test to test for asthma isnā€™t performed within an ER dept. Crazy.

I am currently at this hospital admitted for pain. I have been here about 2 weeks and starting to feel very uncomfortable with the service from the staff. When I first came into emergency it took them hours to attend to me and I was in severe pain. Now im admitted and I noticed after a while if the staff get tired of you. They start ignoring you when you hit the call button. Sometimes l even think they end the call. Im on the 4th floor and some of the staff are horrible. Sometimes I hit the call button and luckily if someone answers, its takes them am 1hr plus. I get it their busy, but why should I have to wait to 2-3 hrs to be attended to. What if im dying? I donā€™t feel cared for or safe here itā€™s devastating. I come here cause its closer to my house. But for my wellbeing I will have to start going to Atrium Main. Shoutout to the nurses that actually cared enough about me , Henok, Jen, Connie, there are some other ones, but I canā€™t remember their names unfortunately. But thank you to them as well. I always can tell the nurses that actually enjoy what they do and put their best at work. I have had this experience multiple times here and finally got tired of it. Come here at your own risk.

I went in about 2:30am with back and leg pain. The staff was nice and the PA treated me very well. I seen a baby throw up on the chairs and cover which the mother left in the chairs when she left. The cleaning ladies never wiped down the chairs when cleaning. With Covid going around the should be doing Thorough cleaning. I told the P.A I been having back issues that are documented, I was omitted for being Paralyze for a week a couple months ago, and the medication my Doctor was not working. She sent me home with basically the same prescription beside Ibuprofen 800 she gave me Tylenol 650. A act of we will make you feel better here but later you will back to the same pain! :(

Thank you for the superb treatment, services, and empathy given to my elderly mother admitted. The patience and informative support received helped us make the right decisions and feel well cared for. The room was great and nursing/doctors, supplies, food services all were focused on our needs through discharge and beyond. Mom is doing well due to the attention received and a plan to take forward!

Completely disgusted with the medical attention I received today from Atrium Health University after being involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident, not only was I forcibly confined to a wheelchair after I complained about lower back pain numerous times, I was told due to ā€œlimited restrictionsā€ I couldnā€™t have someone in the waiting area with me, okay, fine. Sat in the waiting area in a WHEELCHAIR for 5+ hours until I finally moved to a continued limited place, very odd considering I came in with pains coinciding with the accident I had just been in. I call my boyfriend to come back to the hospital since I was now moved out of the waiting area, also observing another patient was able to have her boyfriend with her in the same limited space. But mine was stopped and escorted out of the hospital after security said he wasnā€™t allowed to be in the back with me, ignoring the fact someone else already had someone with them in the same back area he couldnā€™t be in. Also ignoring the fact the nurse gave the ā€œokayā€ for him to come to the back with me. Clearly this hospital is trash & doesnā€™t put the comfortability of their patients into consideration. I also had to urinate in the trashcan, my wheelchair was taken from me & because I couldnā€™t walk to the bathroom because it was so far and I was exhibiting back pains from my accident I had to pee. I had to ask the nurse for a blanket mad times because it was incredibly cold, the supervisor Courtney came to speak to me & truly showed no compassion & then they had the audacity to come & issue me discharge papers but I had just had X-rays done on my lower back I didnā€™t even know the results of, didnā€™t even get the splint I was told Iā€™d be given for my wrist & I was administered medication that the nurse told me sheā€™d come back in 30 mins to an hour to check on and never did. Had I not been adamant about my results Iā€™m pretty sure Dr. Aidan Hopper wouldnā€™t have came back. A true disgrace. I will make it my business to immediately stay away from Atrium Health and I will be exercising all my legal options after this experience.

I had high hopes the reviews were wrong but itā€™s unfortunate that I would not recommend unless it is a last resortā€¦. It doesnā€™t cost anything to be kindā€¦. Care and compassion is almost nonexistentā€¦. HealthCARE vs HealthMANAGEMENTā€¦.. We got to do better! Emergency Room didnā€™t feel as anything was emergentā€¦.

I visited the Atrium during the labor time for my spouse. Dianne is an excellent nurse with her work that provided to us. She supported and helped us a lot. Thank you! Also the doctors, Ginger Dickerson & Aishwarya Bhagawandas, are very well knowledgeable and they made us so comfortable. Nutrition food was delicious and perfect for Postpartum mothers. We really had a great experience.

ER location is understaffed & overworked. The nurses looked exhausted, beds were in short supply, and patients suffered because of it. I was told by an atrium health provider that I would need emergency surgery and was in severe pain, even with narcotic meds. The pain was causing me to be extremely nauseous and made it difficult to work or attend class. If I didnā€™t get this surgery soon, it could cause severe consequences for my health, which is not already the best due to having a chronic illness and multiple surgeries at 22. I waited 7 hours in the emergency room on a weekday afternoon due to lack of staff to treat patients. After finally getting pain medication, I was told that I could not be operated on and would have to book outpatient surgery. This experience was extremely frustrating and I do not recommend this location for this reason.

I am posting a 5 STAR review for the nurses, and Dr. Wei Huang. I had cataract surgery on both eyes two different days at the AH Outpatient Surgical University City. I was very anxious about the surgery. The entire care team were stellar. Dr. Huang did an excellent job. I was a rare case. RK surgery, and Lasik previously. Poor results. I literally went from nearly blind to 20/30 and Iā€™m still healing. These people in particular deserve mention. If I could they would get 10 stars! Pre-op Shelley, Tanya, Lisa OR Robin, Kari, Marcie, Molly, Lisa, Tiffany Post-Op Brandi, Rachel, Susie. CRNAs- Tracey, Michelle Dr. Wei Huang CEENT I believe that many people take the time to do negative reviews, but not as many take the time to give shout outs for outstanding care and dedication. This experience changed my life and helped me overcome PTSD from previous surgery experiences. Thank you so much for your care you certainly made a difference for me.

E-room is itā€™s a scam. No service provide during room itā€™s just waiting for lab result. Charged too much of amount for that. Itā€™s alone and PA came and explain about situation in 2 mins then charged 3000 usd for room service. And billing people are not ready to listen our problem simply saying everything is correct even before explain our problem/question. I never except worst billing and service from autrium emergency department. We doesnā€™t have any complaint section to escalate my situation. Someone has to handle this kind of scenarios with high authority. .

I seem to find issues every time Iā€™ve had such a small Silletti, whether happy and emergency room or in the hospital room. The last time I was at this hospital while Iā€™m waiting I was placed in the hallway and went home with a bed sore again waiting for a room. I was left in the hallway for days on one of the hospital cots. This current visit I was promised several social services before I discharged, but what I got was a new doctor that I never met before telling me that the services that I was promised do not exist even though the doctor had no idea what pDexcom G6 because prescription coberage does not pay for one of these. I was fortunate to have used by several staff members. Even the cafeteria attendant was rude and the presence of my husband and she didnā€™t want to do her job. She thought she was better than him, myself and my husband. The cafeteria worker failed to do her job, even though I was advised by my nurses that she was written up, and she still never completed what she promised.

Had to bring my wife here on a Saturday morning with severe abdominal pain, waited 30 min and was seen. CT scan and a ultrasound later, found a 4mm kidney stone. Beau and the physician were fantastic explaining everything. Pain was managed well. A very pleasant experience for a not so pleasant problem.

I went to the Emergency room yesterday with a possible fentanyl exposure. I could hardly breathe, was very light headed and was having chest pain. They had me sitting in the waiting room for over an hour. My wife had to take me to Walgreens and purchase Narcan to administer to me. After that my breathing went back to normal. By far the worst hospital I have ever seen. I could have died sitting there at the hospital. DON'T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

I usually donā€™t write reviewsā€¦ But what Atrium has done for my motherā€¦ Iā€™m eternally grateful! From departments A-Zā€¦ Anyone who had dealings with my mother from January 2, her admission date, until February 14, her discharge dateā€¦ You guys have eased our tears, uneasiness, stress, and frustration. God there are still some amazing people in this world! God bless you all!

2 excellent nurses. Whatā€™s not to like? Never being physically examined by a MD or by a RN as their surrogate? Not being able to control the light from your bed? Sticky floors. Late med doses at night, because they forgot to undo a clamp or programmed machine wrong? Scanned on time though. Infused supposedly over 5 hours instead of one. Having tech getting BP 3 times in a row and RN saying BP was too low for morphine? Hubby having tech switch to other arm, tech puts BP cuff over elbow because pt has on long sleeved pjā€™s. Blood pressure doubling, RN, ok, you can have morphine. Pt says nothing cause they hurt like hell. First day Techs tape IV for shower that comes off. Pt says nothing because they stink. 2nd day tech tapes too tight and canā€™t bend elbow. Pt soldiers on because theyā€™ve been sweating like a pig all day long. Dr says youā€™re not running a fever based on oral temps. Pt is 61 and rectal temps are the gold standard. Pt has soaked beach towel and all bed linens from sweating all day and night. Pt is bipolar. Psych med that is an anticonvulsant is stopped without asking. This is used off label to prevent mania and first sign is usually irritability, which pt has in abundance. Pain turns out to be 80% positional. Pt feels better every minute she is discharged and out of marshmallow bed that ā€œenforcedā€ semi recumbent position. RN says pt is weak and says pt consult is needed. Pt is weak from morphine for pain but waits for PT which does not come. RN complains that pt not walking halls. pt was told she needed PT and was not offered help to walk hall. Pt was not encouraged to get out of bed. Pt rage asks for discharge after constant noise drives her over the edge. Leave bright blue beach towel and toothbrush behind. No such item when called next day. Pt asks for d/c but says main concern is pain control. Md asks whatā€™s your plan? Pt says Ibuprophen instead of Tordol and continue muscle relaxant. Md says I donā€™t see how that helps you but okay. Does not write for Muscle relaxant. RN goes over d/c instuctuctions. Pt says what this about 600 mg Ibuprophen. RN says we will come back to med changes. RN does not go back to med changes where pt would have noticed missing muscle relaxant. Pt finally feels well enough to read D/C instructions 2 days after D/C. Notice one of antibiotics is 2 times per day. Well, it does match what is on bottle that sick pt did not read. Was getting antibiotics once per day. Stupid pt. Pt is upset, remember I rage asked for discharge? Pt does not get tranquilizer that was requested about 1 hour prior. Waiting for it to come up from pharmacy. Pt has one is purse but is trying to be good. Pt takes tranquilizer in car after d/c. Starts feeling immediately better. Car is quiet. Pt is sitting up so little pain. Doesnā€™t need muscle relaxant after all. ER treated me fine, but I would never go back for fear I would be admitted to the chamber of horrors that is the floor design that creates constant noise even though staff is not talking and laughing too loud, you can hear everything.
