    My elderly family member never received a bill from this practice for treatment received during an emergency room visit however they had no problem sending her information to a collections to who has continued to harass her without ever providing any written documentation of debt owed. When I finally found out this was the practice behind the calls and tried to verify the charges I was not only unable to get anyone on the phone but kept getting redirected to Novant who advised that since this is a private contractor that they handle their own billing. Terrible way to run a business and disgusting way to take advantage of elderly patients.

    Embarrassing miserable customer service. Never sent a bill. Billing isn't done electronically through MyChart. Sent a $37 bill to collections that never was sent to me. Horrific experience - no one will provide me anything in writing confirming my balance is paid in full and should not have been referred to a collections agency. I WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER NOVANT HOSPITAL AGAIN, I'd rather bleed out. Mutibillion dollar hospital system and they can't figure out how to invoice or communicate. Terminate this partnership IMMEDIATELY.

    Wish I could give negative stars. Never received a separate bill from my Novant one and got a random call from a collections company. I always pay my bills immediately. Absolutely the worst experience ever. Will never ever go to Novant again because of this.

    If I could give 0 stars I would. Recently received a bill from them for a prior ER visit for my son. Statement date was 12/29/22. I received this bill on 1/3/2023. Today I received a call from collections despite prior payment. I called this company only to find out it was sent to collections on 12/30/2022. THEY SENT IT TO COLLECTIONS BEFORE I EVEN RECEIVED A BILL. DO BETTER MID ATLANTIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSOCIATES. This country’s healthcare system is a joke. Way to capitalize on a medical emergency.

    I was uninsured and unemployed for a brief period in 2010 and suffered a heart attack. Presbyterian Hospital forgave my bill. I asked Mid-Atlantic to help me out and they said that they would if I sent a copy of my letter from Presbyterian. They lost my letter three times and then turned me over to collections even though I was on the phone with them many times during the period. Rosa R. the last lady to promise to resolve this issue is now in the "Home Office" and unreachable to the public. One excuse after the other...

    this company is TERRIBLE !!! sent me a pre-collection bill claiming they had sent three prior notices, tried to explain to Patricia that I have received no notices and have no idea what they are talking about. she only wanted a credit card # which I did not give. asked what physician this is for and the person she named I had never heard of. then she claimed it was from an ER visit -- relayed I had already paid every bill I received in full from a ER visit from 3 months ago, in which the physician did no more than leave me in a room for 3 hours -- I left and informed the front desk I was leaving. So you are charging me for not doing one damn thing, then lie that you sent 3 notices , now its a pre collection issue?? terrible--horrific. you guys deserve a minus 10 rating

    Had horrible experience with this company. I visited a Novant Health ER and was under the impression it was Novant doctors treating me not some outsourced company. I was never notified I’d get a bill from Novant and this company. I finally heard about a bill because mine went to collection just like the rest of the reviews I read. The NP who treated me was also not very nice and kept me waiting for hours. Had my results via MyChart before she even told me. I don’t appreciate them not disclosing this when you check in. I also don’t appreciate a bill I never received going to collections.

    The Doctor was wonderful, but the billing is terrible. I never received a bill and 3 months later was sent to collections. I went to Novant Emergency and the bill says nothing about Novant. I had to call to confirm this wasn't a scam.

    I never received a bill for service. Today I received a notice from Statewide Collection Service that I never paid the debt. How am I supposed to pay if they never sent a bill?

    Just got a call from a collections agency for a bill that I was not aware of. I pay everything right way. Does not seem fair to never be billed and then sent to collections for something that they can't tell me what it was for. This is really weird, I do not understand why collections is contacting me.

    Worst company ever!! First of all they bill you for a doctor that was not even consulted on your care! Then the PA they have employed, Todd Harrington, can’t even diagnose a common medical problem. Called to dispute my bill, was told to send a letter, did that, never get a response, every time I call I am told ignore the bills while it’s in dispute, always told to call back in 2 weeks, bill went to collections, talked to Jennifer last week who said I had done everything right to dispute the bill and it should not have been sent to collections, she would reverse it immediately and call me by the end of the day with a response, still not reversed and still no call 6 days later!! All they do is lie, lie, lie!!!!! I will report to the BBB and get an attorney if I have to, this is fraud!!!

    A surprise bill taking advantage of a trip to the ER. I already had a bill from Novant paid so I had to call my I insurance to make sure the bill was even real. They spelled my name so incredibly wrong and their payment website had glitches. Sneaking third parties in to the er is so scummy and these people should be ashamed of themselves.

    Don’t even know what to do. In the same situation as nearly every review below. Took an ambulance to Novant hospital in Huntersville, NC. Currently making payments on the visit through Novant. Separate bill from Charlotte Medic for the ambulance. Then this bill from Mid-Atlantic Emergency. Went to collections before I could even get time to pay it. Wanted to confirm it was legit before I paid a collection agency. Mid-Atlantic told me it was charged off to debt collectors. Can’t even get ahold of them again and now after reading these reviews I’m wary to pay the balance at all. No idea what I should do and don’t want a delinquent bill on my credit. Awful that this is happening to people after having a medical emergency.

    Is this really a legit company? thought it was all fraud...very confusing how this is setup. customer service is not helpful. hope we don't ever have to deal with this company again.never received bill from this company and then was turned into collections agency. Def will be reporting this company to the BBB. Seems super fraudulent.

    I was seen by Zachary R Sheckley in the emergency department at Novant Health. He was very professional and compassionate. He showed sincere concern and listened to my problems intently all while keeping everything moving at a fast pace so that I was able to get in and out with ease. I appreciated all his hard work and genuine care.

    I was seen last night at the Salisbury location by Zach Sheckley PA-C. I was able to get in and out within a few hours which was nice because you always expect to be in the ER for an extremely long wait time. Zach was amazing to deal with. I was in a lot of pain and was highly uncomfortable, but he checked on me several times and made sure to go over my results in depth. He answered all my questions, and it was great to deal with him. There were several other staff that I came in contact with (X-ray tech, tech who took blood, intake etc.) and they were all pleasant and over all made my experience so much better. When you’re sick and in pain having a caring staff makes things a lot better. Thank you Novant Salisbury!!

    if I could post negative stars, I would. when at ER - novant health Matthews, NC - MEMA doctor L. P. Sokolsky - denied proper care without a word of explanation whatsoever. After keeping me in ER for almost 3 hours, dr Sokolsky sent me home with the issue I went to ER for, unnecessarily prolonging suffering and costing me so much more in disability time and additional medical expenses as a result of her inaction Dr Sokolsky, admitted however to have "necessary tools and training" yet fell short to at least provide a reason as to why she would not do the procedure ... oh wait, my ER bill was for "emergency room visit with procedure" ! Contacted MEMA with complaint, yet received no response from the company other than they have received my complaint ... _______ Beware: half of the positive reviews are posted by former or current MEMA associates

    If I could rate zero stars I would. The absolute worst customer service. They have contracted out their billing, and the people you talk to can't speak very good English. Will do everything in my power to avoid this ER group. Will file a complaint with Novant Health, as they use MAEMA.

    Shady company with shady website with a bunch of hyperlinks. The review T Coll said my exact thoughts...(It’s very misleading to not inform patients, you service at the Novant Hospital, that they will be billed separately from your company. Especially, when they didn’t sign anything agreeing to receive services from a third party doctor staffed outside of the hospital. No one should be surprised by a bill in the mail from a company they never heard of as fraud activity is a very common practice today. It’s sad and unfortunate and this business practice will be reported by the appropriate bureau and related parts.)
