Had a wonderful meal at Oakhart! Everything was creative and fresh. Our server was just attentive enough. The beet dish was earthy, creamy, and crunchy. The rockfish was delicate and herbaceous. The food was so good we couldn’t stop eating and we only got a picture of our third dish, the most unusual and delicious fried chicken ever!

Oakhart social is creative, comfortable, and casual. Take advantage of the small plate format - everything we had was as tasty as it was well-presented. A couple can finish 3-4 plates. The tuna crudo is an absolute must - wonderfully flavorful and complex. The fried chicken was definitely a departure from your standard fried chicken, with Thai spices and a fish sauce vinaigrette on the side. The indoor dining is at full capacity again, and the outdoor dining is well shaded. And great service!

Romantic atmosphere and superb food. The pork belly dish was like none other. The pork melted gently in my mouth and even the kale garnish was crisp and tasty. The lamb shank is also a must have!

Very disappointing experience. Visited with my wife and 2 small kids. Ordered food for the kids first because they were very hungry and we wanted to give them their food right away so the adults could enjoy our meal without having to feed them at the same time. Their food arrived after ours. The fish we ordered for the kids was overcooked and rubbery. Sent it back and they returned with raw fish. We declined a third try and asked them to remove the plate from the ticket. The chef does not know how to grill fish. We ordered an appetizer which was the last dish to arrive. No thought was given to our dinning experience and logistic of serving food in a manner that made any sense. Also they charge a 3% “living wage” fee?! The reasoning they give in the menu and the ticket makes no sense. Just increase the menu price and pay your staff a living wage instead of looking for a loophole that ends up making you look shady and money hungry.

I'm compelled to share my disappointing experience at Oakhart Social. Initially, finding the restaurant was a challenge in itself, as their sign was obscured by an overgrown plant, making it quite difficult to locate. Upon entering, the atmosphere seemed inviting, but the QR code menu quickly proved to be a letdown. It offered nothing more than uninspired American cuisine, with no standout dishes. Deciding the menu wasn't to our liking, we opted to leave, only to be confronted with a surprising and, regardless of policy, unjustifiable $75 charge for not dining. Moreover, the manager's demeanor was off-putting. Despite our polite and respectful approach to the situation, their response was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. This rebuttal is important to note, as any claims of rudeness on our part would be completely unfounded and inaccurate. This experience was unfortunate, not just for the subpar menu, but more so for the poor customer service and obscure policies. I strongly recommend potential patrons to consider other dining establishments where both the culinary offerings and customer service are of a higher standard.

Had dinner couple times here. Always have a great experience. A must go restaurant when you’re in Charlottesville. Here are couple of my personal favorite from my dinner ,,,

A great find in a city full of great finds! I sat at the bar in their super comfy and Uber-hip red bar chairs and was very well taken care of by the friendly bartender. I had the Tuna Crudo as an app (pictured), which included some legumes on it as well....a first for me, but they pulled it off. The flavors matched very well for a delicious, light appetizer. For the meal, I took the bartenders suggestion for the pizza special, which was a work of art and also wish I unfortunately forgot to photograph in my excitement to get started. It had pickled tomatoes, squash, onions and a delicious cheese blend to match an equally delicious crust. Perfectly cooked and I savored every bite! In a great food town, this place definitely rises to the top and I’ll be returning next time I’m here.

Oakhart is one of our favorite places in Cville! Food, service, atmosphere are all top notch! Rowe & Albee are the bee's knees 😍. Best beets we've ever had. We even had a friend with us that thought he didn't like beets until he tried the plate at Oakhart. Total convert! I believe that everything they make is unique and perfectly executed! Went in for drinks and apps.... Nothing disappointed. The wood fried oysters were delicious, the salad was filling, and the shrimp were fresh and tasty. It is a little load inside when the place is hopping though. Will certainly return.

My husband and I came here for our one year anniversary and we had the best experience - thanks to Jordan for taking care of us! The food was seriously phenomenal - one of the best meals we have had in a while. The timing of the dishes was perfect. The wine selection was great. Customer service was top notch. We can’t wait to come back!!

Great space with an intimate feel. Grab a seat at the bar (but save one for me) or a table, they have indoor and outdoor seating. When the weather gets cold the outdoor seating is covered and heated, you could also ask for a blanket that they have available for a little extra warmth! The staff is amazing, I travel alot for work and finding a place that genuinely makes you feel at home is so important. The flounder special is a MUST if it's available!

Absolutely incredible experience. Definitely shared plate, shared experience place but service and food were spot on. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic food -- roasted broccoli, beets, mushroom pizza... a complex symphony of flavors that Brahms would die for. Complimentary glass of bubbly for our anniversary was a nice touch. Great service (h/t Karen). Hoping to go back again soon.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Oakhart Social the Friday night before our wedding. Ben Clore was incredibly helpful as we planned the event and selected the menu. He went above and beyond to make sure all our questions were answered and that we had access to the space in advance to help in our planning process. Ben and rest of the staff at Oakhart made our night so special. The setting was perfect, the timing of events was seamless and the food was absolutely incredible. Many of our guests still talk about how delicious everything was. Thanks so much to Oakhart and we look forward to coming back soon!

I had my wedding rehearsal dinner here and the planning process was very easy with Ben and he was super responsive. The food was AMAZING and the staff was great! My family kept saying how it was the best rehearsal dinner they have ever been to! I was not sure about the family style service when I first looked into Oakhart but it ended up being awesome!!! Perfect amount of food for everyone! I would highly recommend hosting an event at here!

Really, really spectacular food! The fried chicken was insane (and I don’t like chicken very much). But the s’more bread pudding blew me away in complexity, texture and presentation! The carrots, pizza and scallion pancakes were just ok but highly recommend this place.

Literally the best meal I ever had. If you’re passing by Charlottesville set up a reservation, will be an unforgettable experience.

Rehearsal dinner in Charlottesville, Virginia before a wedding at Renback barn

I called and asked the host specifically if they make espresso martinis with fresh brewed espresso, and she happily said “absolutely!” After finally finding parking in the area, we walked in and was told it would be a short wait for the bar. While waiting, we reaffirmed that the establishment serves espresso martinis with fresh brewed espresso. Little to say, I was very disappointed to know that this is not true. They make their espresso martinis with 24h soaked coffee grounds in rum and vodka. We just moved to the area and I am very disappointed with my first impression of the establishment.

Delicious, shared plates restaurant. Fried chicken is a must. Need reservations. Loved it!

We had a nice dinner at Oakhart last weekend. The food, tapa small plates, is surprisingly diverse, or at least is prepared with unique twists. We thought it was quite good and filling

Great waitress who recommended the burger. Best burger I’ve had in my life(and I’m a big boy). Wow. I don’t write reviews for food places, but the fries were perfect for me and burger was perfect. I don’t think I could get a better burger. Pizzas were sold out by the time I got in. But amazing
