8-10-23 I've been quite disappointed with my recent experiences at Gold's Gym. The gym has been dealing with an ongoing issue of intense heat and a broken AC system for nearly a month now. It's been uncomfortable to work out in such conditions, and it's surprising that the management hasn't taken more proactive measures to address the situation. Providing some box fans could have been a simple way to help alleviate the discomfort and show support for the members who continue to exercise despite the heat. I hope that Gold's Gym takes this feedback into consideration and makes improvements for the sake of their members' comfort. Update 8-11-23 The only fan in the main part of the gym has been turned off for a few days after a power outage which has added to the problem. Update 8-25-23 The gym still lacks AC, and despite this issue, the management has not taken any steps to provide assistance, such as providing box fans or other alternatives.

Ac is always broken, (2 weeks now, it was fixed for 1 day last week) locker room is ALWAYS flooded, nasty and dirty with a horrible odor. Showers are half broken. Pay to park unless you come after 5pm. The price of the membership and staff is why i gave it a star, but the facilities definitely reflect the price. I use the gym to run when its too hot outside or for less impact days and its worse with no ac or circulation and i wouldnt have joined had i known the AC was a constant problem

Have had issues with staff not disclosing fee’s and as well making false statements about their ability to wave fees. I have been given misinformation on parking here as well which caused more fees. I have spoken with general management who apologized but mostly gave reasons to justify actions. I was offered some free monthly services, however I don’t feel like this is friendly or honest establishment and won’t return to any golds gym for membership in the future.

Disappointed at the poor condition of gym facilities. Several machines have wires hanging out and look to be ancient. When I spoke with Emily “the manager” as she referred to herself she could not have cared less. Tried to ask about restrooms and steam room being dirty but all she did was ramble something about someone cleaning. Went back later that week and the same urine stain on changing table in bathroom was still there.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service provided by Thomas, an outstanding gym employee at Gold's. From the first moment I set foot in the gym, he exuded a remarkable level of friendliness and genuine warmth that immediately made me feel like part of the gym community. Thomas possesses an impressive depth of knowledge in the realm of fitness. He attentively listened to my workout goals and aspirations, offering invaluable advice that proved to be remarkably effective. His expertise and guidance played a significant role in helping me achieve my desired results. Furthermore, what truly sets this Gold's apart is the collective effort of its remarkable staff members, including Thomas, Michael, and manager Tyler, in fostering a sense of community. Their ability to create an inviting and clean environment is truly commendable. In conclusion, Thomas is an exceptional gym employee who embodies the core values of exceptional customer service, profound fitness knowledge, and unwavering dedication. His contributions, together with the remarkable team at Gold's, make it an exemplary gym for anyone seeking a transformative fitness journey accompanied by a wonderful sense of community.

Worst place ever. -Chattanooga downtown location. Ever since the new management took over the place is absolutely DISCUSTING. I spent thousands of dollars in personal training in 2019 when I was preping for my first body building conditions. Went to cancel my membership (which I have had with them for years) and was advised there was a $15 cancelation fee. Management came over and changed that to a 30 day oitce few but WOULD NOT Provide any of he requested paperwork I asked showing me where I had agreed. I have NEVER received such RUDE and poor service. Good thing..... I am so relived to be finished with this company. After 20+ years of loving Golds Gym..... this experience will absolutely NEVER have me going back

Manager Olivia DePhillips is one of the rudest people I've ever had to deal with. I feel sorry for the staff that have to work with her. Gym quality is poor. Unsanitary conditions and black mold in several rooms. Dont expect anything more than the worst customer service and you could ever imagine. Expect hidden fees.

Terrible experience. I was traveling and searched a Gold’s Gym specifically because I’ve been a member before with good experiences. I had to pay a 15$ day pass and there were so many bench covers missing I couldn’t do a fraction of what I wanted especially since it’s a small gym. They also don’t even offer shower towels. I won’t go back to a Gold’s again.

Can’t believe they just made me pay $32 to cancel when they know I have no plans of coming here because I use other gyms. Everything regarding billing from these franchise locations has been a nightmare. Not to mention half the time there’s no hot water or AC in various locations around town. Corporate should take away the licensing for TN. When I worked at PF they didn’t scam people out of extra money when they canceled :) 0/10 recommend. Use PF or Crunch. Or splurge on a nicer gym.

I called because I cancelled my membership but they kept billing me which it ended up in collections, I never checked in at the gym not even once and now they want me to pay $300 for services I never had or used the collections manager LUCAS G. Expressed no concern in helping. He put the blame totally on me like I’m wrong. Never again save yourself they doing bad business!

The good The gym has what you would expect for a gym including steam, sauna, 2 lane pool, classes, free weights, machines The bad - Lot of equipment is old and in need of replacement like the spin bikes and ellipticals and there is only 1 rowing machine. Parking is a little tricky being downtown but they do validate for 2 lots The Ugly - The showers look like they are only cleaned once a year

Good gym. Hoping they being back the saunas as that's one of the better items that were removed. Parking is abysmal but not entirely Golds fault.

I can’t publish my name because the manager retaliates against clients if they give bad reviews and changes your email address in your account so you won’t be notified of any surveys in the future if you give your honest opinion. The facility itself is okay, but their cleanliness has gone downhill since this gym went from Rush to Golds. I have pictures of how disgusting the locker rooms are and even if you tell someone, it might be cleaned once and then go right back to being neglected. In serious need of new management.

20 years of going to the gym and I have never seen anything as gross as the locker room at this place.

New management is awful. I only go to this gym because it’s the only one remotely close to me that is affordable. But the place is disgusting and none of the workers seem to care. Everything is rusty, disorganized, and dirty. New management was a mistake.

I went to buy some product and the staff member said we shut down transactions 20 minutes before closing. Just seem like they just wanted to go home even though the gym is open for another half hour. I’ll just purchase products online from other vendors.

Needs cleaned up and some maintenance. It is a large gym and has most all the equipment you need. Much of the equipment is older and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but some newer equipment would be better. The place needs cleaned up. Touch one weight and your hands are black. The floors are dirty and tiles are falling off the men’s locker room wall. I would not consider using the showers. The entire week I was here I never seen one person clean a single item. On a positive note the staff were polite and attentive. Free parking for two hours if you use the designated lot so that was great for being downtown.

Do not sign up....dirty showers...they make it as hard as possible to cancel once they get your bank account number. Pool..sauna...steam room all closed for good......4th st location gym manager does good for what she has.. senior management is a joke..not in touch with members and what they need or want... golds in Tennessee may b on their out.

Not for Serious Swimmers! I bought a week pass to swim while staying nearby on business. Water temperature was 72F all week due to a faulty heater, which is much too cold. (Competition pools are kept cold, but rarely less than 78F.) I mentioned this to the very helpful and professional front desk staff on 3 visits, but manager relayed from his glass office that it will be fixed "tomorrow", which it never was. Otherwise, it would have been a 5 star week due to the abundance of equipment. Good wifi for phone was sufficient alternative to limited TV entertainment.

I've been a member for 2 1/2 years. I love that I can go to any of the 3 Gold gyms in Chattanooga for the same price. When I'm out near Costco, I hit the Lee Highway location, when I come down the back of Signal Mountain I head to Hixson, and when I'm downtown I hit 4th street. Staff are nice other patrons are courteous, and with the expansion at Hixson I never have to wait for a machine or barbell.

Staff here is super friendly and helpful. Always greeted as soon as I walk in and always told to have a good day as I’m leaving. The equipment is all in good shape and the locker rooms are always clean. I take showers here often and have never seen hair balls in the drain and the water pressure is better than at my house!

This is a great location. I agree with another poster that it's on the smaller side, but there was no issue on a Saturday morning (international leg day) getting onto equipment to lift. There was a wonderful employee moving through the club cleaning equipment as the morning went on. Highly recommend this gym!

The gym was in excellent condition, metal pieces in equipment looked a bit rusty but worked perfect! Machines were brand new and gave users a huge selection of muscle groups to work. The staff is very friendly, all of them were helpful and quick to help/explain/ or just talk if asked.

This is not a bad gym. You've got all the facilities you could ask for from a gym that is in a downtown metropolitan area. My only complaint would be that the machines, equipment and weights are somewhat crowded and if there's a lot of people at the gym it can be a little difficult to find your own space. I do love the steam room and sauna they have. The indoor pool is a little small but could be useful for someone to get a few laps in at the end of the day. I would also say that their class schedule isn't best suited for people working late hours.

Beware of the fees to terminate your account. An "aacount handling fee"? How ridiculous. Gold's is a scam.

Decent gym at a great price, friendly staff and members, came here a couple years ago and bought a one week while on vacation, came back again this year and found the addition of the extra room w Rogue squat racks and deadlift platforms, bars and plates, plenty of space for stretching and mobility work. Hands down a solid place to get a great workout. Having read some of the other reviews here, the sauna is operational, didn’t notice any odor in the locker room or a wet floor issue, parking is free if you bring your ticket in for validation when you leave. No complaints here.

Broken AC since July. It broke last year too. They won't clean the bathrooms. There's mold in the shower. I'll show them pictures, they say they will tell their management and it nothing is cleaned. Bathroom smells like urine. There's filth under the hand dryer. If it rains, there are water puddles in the Olympic weight room. Management sucks here.

Good selection of equipment, great free weights area. Cable machines are ok at best. No good cable row or cable pull-down stations. Never too crowded, but only paid parking before 5

  • 5/5 Jay W. 7 months ago on Google
Staff always helpful, and like the new machines they have. Enjoy working out in the room that used to have the pool. It's way better utilized now. Most people who use the gym are in their 20s, and all seem pretty respectful about using the equipment and allowing others to jump in.

Went at 7:25 on Sunday and the gym is supposed to open at 7am. Nobody around and the place is locked up. No sign or anything. Pretty dirty and out of date equipment. No working Cables for flys. Needs some serious love and attention.

I actually never joined even though I have been a member of Gold's in the past, including the original. The problem here is that they have zero parking. So if you have to pay for parking every time you go, it adds up.

Obviously if you go at peak hours it's gonna be busy, just wish they would make the hours more reasonable on Friday and Saturday. I know the Lee Hwy is 24 hrs but that is far from my house and the traffic to get there is horrific.
