Perfect in every way! We are KCBS Judges & loved everything about this place. We also own a competition quality BBQ Restaurant so you can trust us on this one. Super clean with excellent service. The pork sausage was the daily special served with corn muffins & slaw. The tacos were a great sampler of pork, chicken, & brisket. But you need more brisket so add on a sandwich served w Slaw, pickle & onions! Add ribs to any platter. All meats were smoked perfectly. The greens were so good I got two orders to go. Multiple sauces give you a variety of flavor profiles. They have coke, yes coke, & bottled beer. Took a banana pudding to go. Safe to say it's gonna be great. A must stop in Tennessee.

Amazing ribs. Excellent service. Great little restaurant with a nice view. It's more down home than glamorous but that's what you expect from a barbecue joint. Order as you walk in and pick your own seat. Decent amount of outdoor seating. There are even goats on the hill surrounding the building. Nice amount of hot sauce options. Cornbread and mac and cheese were disappointing but smoked pork and ribs were dynamite

2nd time here and the sauces were great. Chicken was great and so was service. Wife loved the ribs! Very tender and fell off the bone. Chili was great! Just enough kick and didn't overwhelm the rest of the chili. Plus you get a great view if you eat outside.

Very good ribs.. Smoked perfectly, then grilled for just a little sear and crunch! Very good ribs.

The ribs and pulled pork here are delicious. The meat was full of smoke flavor. Also very visible smoke ring. I come here everytime I visit Chattanooga for excellent BBQ. Very friendly staff as well. Good prices on food and adult beverages. Give it a try, it won't disappoint.

Good vibes and wonderful food! Stephanie our waitress was outstanding! The ribs were tender and juicy and we loved feeding the goats!! Wonderful view of the city from the outdoor patio! Passing through from Chicago to Atlanta!

Most of my food was great. The chicken in my chicken tacos was over cooked but the ribs, pinto beans, smoked okra, and Mac and cheese were great. If you’re a gooey Mac and cheese person, you will like Sugars’. Outdoor seating was pretty cool. Just be prepared that if you’re there at sunset, you’ll be blinded for a little bit. The view over Chattanooga and surrounding mountains is beautiful. We didn’t spend much time inside so I can speak to that. Our waitress was extremity attentive and friendly. Cabbage was available to feed the goats which our two year of loved getting to do! If we find ourselves back in Chattanooga, we’ll make another stop here. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews recently. It’s worth a stop.

This restaurant was wonderful yet again. We had a party of seven this time - 4 adults and 3 kids. We stopped for lunch on a weekday. There was no wait, the service was great, and the food was delicious. Everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. There is a handicap accessible parking spot, and the entry to the building is a ramp. It was very convenient and easy for the handicapped person in our party. We were also able to feed the goats some cabbage on our way out. The kids (and adults) really enjoyed getting to pet them while feeding them.

We stopped on a late night road trip across Tennessee and found this place on Google Maps. Some of the best BBQ we've eaten on the trip, tender ribs with meat slipping off the bones, amazing juicy brisket & the amazing hospitality of the managers & servers. It was a cold evening but this BBQ warmed us up and we're eager to return.

My boyfriend and I visited this place on our last morning in Chattanooga and I must say, this place is a MUST if you are in Chattanooga. The restaurant is positioned on a mountaintop so there’s a great view. Everything we had was amazing but my favorite were the ribs and the brisket jalapeño poppers. The staff was nice and the service was quick. It’s a eat and go type place but it is definitely worth stopping by. I am so glad that we found our way here. Shark ribs. Why do I say that? I did not ask if the ribs were beef or pork but, by the amount of cartilage in my ribs, I think they were shark (sharks have no bones only cartilage). Small tiny bits of cartilage. Even when I thought I had fished them all out, another small bendy, slimy piece to spit out again. The were not bad ribs but, not great either. Had a variety of BBQ sauces... as those of you who grew up poor may remember when you would run out of ketchup and there would be some that you could not quite get out of the bottom and the sides. You would go to the sink and put in some water and then shake the bottle to get a watery ketchupy mixture that was better than no ketchup at all. That is how all the sauces are watery. Beans with cornbread were good, staff very friendly. Nice overlook from the outdoor seating. Goats are cute.

Feeding the goats was the best and only good part. The food is neither good or bad just mediocre at best. I had the brisket sandwich with turnip greens and MAC with a cornbread muffin on side. I added the ribs for $10 on any order. Brisket is okay (get the slaw to the side), I opted for the sandwich because other reviews said the quantity for the money would be better, none of the sauces made sense for the BBQ and were watered down. MAC is the soupy version with cheese melted on top, greens were okay. Ribs were full of cartilage, taste decent. Sausage tasted like an Italian sausage and was not good. The prices for the sides are high, bag of chips usually 50cents is $3.25. Overall not a place I would recommend and seriously doubt they would get business if their location was less flashy and seen so easily. The service saves whatever hope this place has to keep their doors open.

Had a great meal at Sugars today. This is the third time I have been here. I love the ribs, Texas pintos, and the cornbread! Always Great! My wife had the shredded pork, beans, and added mac n cheese. We both left full. The Mac n cheese could have used a lil more cheese but that was the only down side.

This place was awesome. Great outdoor seating that overlooks the small field of goats that you're able to pet and feed. (They keep a bowl of scraps for people to feed the goats near the kitchen. They have great homemade BBQ and hot sauces. My favorite was the clear hot sauce. Habeneros, water, onion, and vinegar. Kids had a great time with the goats and their food. I'd recommend this place to anyone that wants great BBQ in a great environment.

Perfect lunch! I ordered the catfish tacos! Mouth watering and the sliced radish and fried okra added a great flavor and crunch. Best bite was the pork stuffed jalapeños popper! Definitely wishing we lived closer to enjoy this restaurant weekly! Donna was the perfect waitress! Bonus great view of the mountains and city.

I went with my family for late lunch around 4pm. First time visiting, so I didn't know they don't have in table service but it was pretty great. We placed our order at the entrance, sat, and a server brought everything to the table. Food was ready within 10 minutes maybe even less than that. Great flavor. The meat from the ribs came off the bone so easily. So tasteful. The wait staff was great, attentive. Portions are okay. Wil visit again on my next visit to Chattanooga.

Best half a rack of ribs I've ever had. The sides of cornbread, coleslaw, and mac and cheese were good too, but the turnip greens were a little salty for our taste. Our mouths still water thinking about those jalapeño poppers.

  • 5/5 Chris Y. 3 years ago on Google
Top tier ribs, fantastic poppers. Buy a bottle of Hot Lips every time I can stop by. It is a fire roasted jalapeno and habanero sauce with I imagine onions and various seasonings. It has been 4 days since I last got a bottle and 8t 66% gone.

What an amazing restaurant and down home feel! The food is great, especially the grilled onions and pork butt. You get a large amount of food for the price and you can’t beat the outside deck over looking downtown Chattanooga.

Sugar's Ribs was amazing!!! It was an awesome experience for some out-of-towners!!! The view is breathtaking... And the BBQ... Well let's just say there's a reason "Ribs" is in the name!!! They're even good dry... Sweet, tender, but still not falling off the bone... they have substance!!! Between our group of 4 we tried the ribs, the brisket, the sausage, the spicy okra chips (loved these. Never heard of them before), coleslaw and Banana Pudding... Nothing was disappointing except the brisket tacos were missing just a little something... I couldn't put my finger on it. I very highly recommend sugar's Ribs! I'm not BBQ connoisseur but I do have a pretty refined pallet... I would eat here about twice a week if I lived in the area! I definitely recommend Sugar's... They know what they're doing!!!!!!!

  • 5/5 Malcolm G. 3 years ago on Google
Holy moly this place is good. Who wouldn’t live brisket and cheese stuffed jalapeños? Our server angel was one of the nicest people around and educated us all the home made sauces. Where else can you go where they leave a platter of cabbage so patrons can feed the goats? Come on!

  • 5/5 Life with S. 3 years ago on Google

Delicious food and awesome view of the mountains! Great place to go for dinner and drinks on the patio! We were very happy with the food and the service as well. The brisket tacos were delicious as were the BBQ Brisket and pork butt jalapeño poppers. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Chattanooga! Our only slight complaint was the prices were a little more than we expected.

  • 5/5 Olivia O. 3 years ago on Google
My father and I were completely blown away by this place. The employees were knowledgable and welcoming, the restaurant provided a spectacular view of Chattanooga and the food was absolutely delicious! Angel was an excellent waiter and educated us on the sauce selections to choose from and took care of us the whole time. Favorites pictured are the ribs (of course), wood grilled okra, smoked pork butt taco and the Mo' Rock'n Stew. Highly recommend stopping by!

  • 4/5 Steve H. 3 years ago on Google
A BBQ place that has been around Chattanooga a long time, when we go back we wonder why we didn't visit again sooner. Amex's small business promotion spurred our latest visit. They have opened up some space for dine-in but we called in a takeout order. I like their Mo Rock'n Stew that can be had as a side dish or ordered separately. It's a distant cousin to Brunswick Stew, but really isn't that much like anything else. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

BBQ Enthusiasts! The VIEWS MAN! Man the sauces! The RIBS! The Brisket is so juicy! Grilled Jalapeño Cornbread! This place has all the flavors expected from Southern Tennessee BBQ. The clear BBQ Sauce is amazing! I like the Barbacoa spin-off and Mexican style BBQ flavors also available. Gonna be on the look-out for fusions. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!

One of my favorite places to go when I go to Chattanooga very nice view Ribs are delicious Rotisserie chicken it's very juicy and delicious and the hot towels at the end to clean your hands hit it out of the park pretty good only thing I noticed is that they don't have regular french fries so be aware if you bring the kids they only have fresh cut potato fries and mostly all kids don't like it because of how they look to them!

The service was good but as a first-time customer I ordered a brisket platter and I got a box full of shredded beef that was very very salty Albert's traveling and got it to go so I was unable to return. The barbecue sauce hot lips I got was very very good other than the saltiness of the meat and the overall appearance that is my review

Are you honestly ready for the best brisket tacos you’ve ever had in your life? Smoked brisket tacos: My bf and I go to this place every time we pass by it on I-24 near Chattanooga. The combination of wood smoked brisket, cabbage, radish, fried okra, salsa, lime crema will render you speechless. (Not pictured is the salsa and the crema on the tacos because they’re professionals in take out orders and know that combining those with the tacos would make it soggy). We’ve tried the pork butt, chicken, and catfish and we still prefer the brisket over them. Wood grilled okra: For my side I chose the wood grilled okra. I mean it’s just so tender and melts in your mouth. The hickory wood is just soaked in the vegetables that you don’t even mind it’s a vegetable. Sauce recommendations: Try the Carolina red: If you’re into a vinegar based sauce but slightly spicy. Works well with the brisket. Try the sweet and goopy: if you like that smoky flavor and basically want it in liquid form all over your taco/ meat Try the hot lips: if you basically want to burn your taste buds off haha I’m joking but actually that’s what it felt like for me but I’m also a lightweight on spice. My bf on the other hand loved it. He also thought it was pretty spicy though. It looks like this cool calm verde sauce then WAM!! Your face is in a water bottle try to get relief for your tongue.

Unassuming place but really good service, food and views. Try to sit where you can see the view. My husband loved the okra but I wasn't thrilled with the flavor. We both liked the Mac & cheese with a little salt and pepper added. I loved the potato nochos but we shouldn't have put spicy pork on them. The spicy pork seemed dry. The full rack of ribs was twice as much as we needed. However, the ribs were wonderful and not much waste on them. I loved the sweet red sauce and my husband chose the spicier version.

  • 5/5 Charles H. 3 years ago on Google
Amazing BBQ, we ordered a little bit of everything. The ribs were smoky with a nice bit too the meat. The bbq sauces are flavored for all types taste bus. My favorite was the stuffed jalapeno. This BBQ is a blue ribbon winner. Can't wait to go back!!!!!

Must stop here for bbq! Ribs are fall off the bone and delicious!! Order at the counter and they will serve your food at the table. We had excellent service! They also have a covered outdoor area along with great views and friendly goats outside. This is my favorite place. Would come here all the time if I didn't live 4 states away!

The jalepeno poppers are the absolute best thing here. The brisket poppers are the best! The pulled pork is moist with good flavor. Good ribs. The brisket is ridiculous. Great location with a view. Road trip worthy.

  • 5/5 Don C. 3 years ago on Google
Outstanding in all respects! The BBQ is great. Sauces to fit every taste. The service was excellent and fast. Nice facility. Believe it or not they have goats out on the hillside! Go out and eat your meal and watch the goats play. You can also eat inside or out on a covered patio. Great view of Chattanooga also plus lookout mountain. Easy access from the expressway. Clearly a very popular place among the locals because it got very busy at lunch time.

  • 5/5 Need4Gweed 3 years ago on Google
Passing through and stopped to try out. Definitely worth a stop. They don't have a combo with different meats so if you're indecisive like myself, get a couple of the mini-q's and a side of 3 ribs. The pulled pork is really good. The ribs are great as they have a nice sweet and crispy bark to them. The brisket left a little to be desired but hey, this isn't Texas. Was still good. Also, the grilled okra is a must try. Never had it before and they do a great job of it. Will be back next time through.

  • 5/5 Caitlin S. 3 years ago on Google
Super good! I got the sliders, chicken and a brisket. The chicken i wasn't worried about but the brisket, the brisket was delicious. And the coleslaw was on point tonight, I wish I had a container of coleslaw now. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and definitely will to-go again!

This place was amazing!! The service was above and beyond. The food was flavorful, the perfect temperature, and a good portion size. The sweet sauce was my favorite! The ribs are the best thing on the menu and fell off the bone. I loved the outdoor patio with such an amazing view of lookout mountain, especially at sunset! Everything was perfect and this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion! I would recommend this place to all Barbeque lovers and foodie enthusiast!!

Absolutely horrible service, and after we stood there waiting for 20 minutes to place our order, we were asked to leave that they wouldn’t be serving us because we didn’t have a mask on. We had someone with us who is medically handicapped, and has and excuse from her doctor that she doesn’t have to wear a mask. The Manager said it doesn’t matter what her health conditions that she must wear a mask! It’s a shame they acted this way. They obviously didn’t know who we were, but that’s okay! We’ll NEVER be back, and I will personally see to it that I spread the word everywhere about how we were so rudely asked to leave that they wouldn’t serve us.

Must have if you are visiting Chattanooga! First of all the view is amazing! Good food with a good view. Their alcoholic drink selection is limited to beer but the food makes up for it. Ribs and port butt were my favorite. Must try poppers. Sausage was pretty good too. Hot sauce was not that hot… it was good. Their chocolate chip cookie was good … banana pudding was just fine Service was pretty good!!! We will be back

Service was excellent! The ribs were fall off the bone. The ambiance impeccable from the patio. It was love, love, love. The interesting thing was the few farm animals in the yard next door. When I got up to take a closer look, it appears the animals posed for the pics. They came closer and stood still as I cleared my shots. That was really fun! ❤❤❤

Friendly staff. The best bbq I’ve had so far in the South. I love the corn bread muffins it was moist and delicious i snacked on the two muffins all night long. My toddler loved his mac and cheese and chicken. My husband loved the ribs. The goats and kitties are awesome. I live in northern GA and I’d pilgrimage to have it again!

Very casual place. Good BBQ, multiple sauce choices. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Service was quick. Staff was friendly. Refill your own drinks. Outdoor covered balcony with a view of the city. Can heat quite a bit of highway traffic noise from the balcony. Don't forget to feed the goats.

Very smooth ordering process and quick service. I had the sausage sandwich. I was expecting a hot link type sausage but this was really more like a formed farm sausage. It was ok. But if I had known that was what it would be I would have ordered something else.

My highlight was seeing the goats. The seating and view were incredible. They're chicken with another story. They were the tiniest most dry things I'd ever attempted to eat. Not crazy about the barbecue sauces either. They're really good at advertising which is why I came in But I would not come back. And that little piece of bread or whatever it came with was horrible. I think it had onions in it. Just completely not my taste at all

Not a bad place. I've been wanting to try it for years and finally was able to. Not a huge menu selection. I was wanting some good nachos, or a meat and three, but what I did have was alright. Not the best BBQ I've had, but not the worst. There were goats so that was a plus..

Absolutely not impressed. I Was traveling through Chattanooga and wanted some good BBQ. This is not the place. See the picture. That was $25. Over priced food. The meat was half fat. Service was horrible. Wish I would not have wasted $25!

My twin sister and I went on our first solo trip ever. (It took 62 years but better late than never!) When we decided to travel to Chattanooga, she said that she wanted to eat at Sugar's Ribs because the food was amazing. She did not lie! Their homemade sausage was to die for! And the portions were HUGE. The nicest staff too. If you happen to be in Chatanooga and see Sugar's on the mountain-- stop and eat there! You're most welcome!
